@@WolfLink_justlookingfordragon you could go looking in Age of Calamity, although Lake Kolomo, Ancient Columns, Elden Canyon, Irch Plain, West Necluda, Spring of Power, Sandin Park Ruins, and the Nameless Forest are all unacessable.

I am a little disappointed that you didn't troll us by making the modern Hyrule Castle pic just the empty space where the castle used to be

I've really enjoyed the comparison of then and now. Here's an idea for a video (only if you feel you can be bothered to do, otherwise it's no big deal) - the locations of the geoglyphs in TotK and how they looked in BotW. So basically the same thing, in reverse to see how things have changed.
@evergreenoaktree5 ай бұрын
a lot of that is going to be flat grassy plains and rugged mountainsides. neat concept, but it'd be boring in practice.
@WolfLink_justlookingfordragon5 ай бұрын
I like the idea ^^ There are a few other areas that I can think of where comparisons might be interesting. For example, the hidden room inside the Akkala Citadel has already existed in BotW, just without a chasm inside of it. Might be interesting as part of a bigger compilation.

for how zelda took those photos it could be that little dragonfly idea in creating a champion; its also how link takes selfies, the camera detaches from the slate and can just. fly around! probably was experimenting with that back in the day.. also YEAHH THE PUMPKIN ON THE GODDESS STATUE!!! alsoalso the flipped suns path may sadden me but as someone mentioned before it could also imply the existence of seasons which. well yeah id hope thered be seasons in botw/totk but also i wonder which ones specifically they are. i cant remember if someone already mentioned it or not though… either way!!!! timeframes!!!!! anyways its cool of you to do this again!! seeing the photos recreated has always been cool and continues to be cool

I appreciate the slideshow! Best change: ultrahand ^^ Worst change: no Wolf Link :( But really, Deya Village Ruins is probably my favorite change. Reminds me of when the trailers first showed the Gleeok and how hype I felt.

Thank you for making this compilation. Another relaxing video in which the pause button was put to great use. I liked comparing all the small changes. Also the unique Zonai contraptions you built to help you with Photographer Link's accurate reproduction of each photo. :) "Nameless forest" Probably the vaguest location to find in this Memory scavenger hunt. The name of the picture is vague too if you can read Sheikah: Hyrule Field The rest of the names of the photo memories for reference: Memory #1: Sacred Ground Ruins Memory #2: Lake Kolomo Memory #3: Ancient Columns Memory #4: Kara Kara Bazaar Memory #5: Eldin Canyon Memory #6: Irch Plain Memory #7: West Necluda Memory #8: Hyrule Castle Memory #9: Spring of Power Memory #10: Sanidin Park Ruins Memory #11: Lanayru Road - East Gate Memory #12: Hyrule Field

Great video as always! Love waking up and starting my mornings with your video's hahaha On a side note, i just can't wrap my head around why they changed the sun. Did they do it to make it feel different or something? It doesn't have an effect on gameplay, and aestetic wise it just makes me a bit less nostalgic. Feels off or something.
@alexstewart95926 ай бұрын
It DOES have somthing to do with gameplay - in BOTW the angle of the sun causes the shadow of the Gerudo Highlands to cover the northern edge of the Gerudo Desert for much of the day, protecting the area against heat. In TOTK, this would overlap with the Sand Shroud in parts of the day, and the northern part of the ruins you find Riju at is within this overlap.
@soundpatriot52746 ай бұрын
@@alexstewart9592 that does make sense, but would they really change it for such a niche thing? Most people probably get some heat resistance gear or food for the day. Or like me, who just traveled at night with cold resistance.
@jbradleymusic6 ай бұрын
The season/time of year is different, as well. Hard to make that clear since weather is so wildly different in regions, but the sun moves in the real world depending on the time of the year, so it only makes sense.
@bloodalchemy6 ай бұрын
@@soundpatriot5274it's an easy problem to solve, but they wanted it to be something for people to pay attention to. The desert is supposed to be harsh and require planning to survive, if half the quest time in the desert ignored that then we would call them out for not paying attention to basic details.

Honestly, this makes me really curious about how/if you could recreate these photos in the depths, since it is just a mirror of the surface I'm assuming it would be a lot harder, but who knows
@evergreenoaktree5 ай бұрын
the Depths being "just a mirror" is a widely spread misconception. the topography is based on an inversion of the overworld, yes, but they have their own unique landscape and environment. these locations would be completely unrecognizable.
@WolfLink_justlookingfordragon5 ай бұрын
I checked a few locations, but the ones I've seen so far are kinda unobtaineable, if that makes sense...? Lake Kolomo and The Sacred Grounds / Lookout Landing for example don't have counterparts - just a black space on the map, and if you actually venture into the Depths you're standing in front of a wall both times. The location directly beneath the Hyrule Castle memory is just a very deep hole, and the Kara Kara mine doesn't look similar to what's on the surface. I haven't checked the others (yet) tho.
@rew42915 ай бұрын
@@WolfLink_justlookingfordragon That's rather unfortunate, but also completely logical It would have been a really cool Easter egg if the depths counterparts of the original memories had something similar to how the calamity memorials above ground have the ghost soldiers in the depths

@joypink55995 ай бұрын
I do have to say, the fact that the forest doesn’t have a name is kind of great in terms of story telling. In a place no one knows, removed from it all, everything comes crashing down as the rain pours. It’s perfect.

I have to wonder if Gannon flipped the planet that Hyrule is on when he woke up? If the entire planet did a 180* flip and tilted about 90* on the right axis, the spin would leave the sun going "backwards" in the sky. That would explain the shadows being wrong.
@WolfLink_justlookingfordragon5 ай бұрын
Regular people when they're angry: flipping tables Ganon when he's super mega p*ssed about being temporarily defeated once again: flips the entire planet

In the concept art for the Sheikah Slate, the eye could detach and work a bit like a little drone, and though it's never shown outright in the final product, do you think that might be how Zelda originally took all these photos?

I think the shadows are due to TotK being in a different season than BOTW. The drastic changes could be caused by Hyrule being significantly north or south of the equator.
@thesoupisburning895 ай бұрын
it's actually the opposite!! shadows only change from going north to south and vice versa when a location is close to the equator. hyrule is probably on a planet with a large amount of tilt in its axis, hence the particularly drastic difference - of course, assuming totk and botw are in perfect opposite seasons . uh, sorry for nerd emojiing
