would you ever be willing in the future to do a video of how to take care of/protect thin, over filed nails and return them to good standing? nail school has completely destroyed my hands and im wondering if the product I'm using is correct. Love you thank you for all the time and energy you put into this content!!!

There is no way to return your nails to good standing. All you can do is let them grow and not damage the new growth. It's a process cause they break and chip so easily until the healthy nail is at the free edge. It took myself 6 months to get my nails in a healthy state. I now take product off when and how I'm supposed. I also don't file and buff so aggressively like I did when I was learning. Another key thing to do is to moisturize since nail plates are 25% water. If they hand the correct amount of moisture, nails will bend and flex instead of snap and break.
@everythingbuthair5 жыл бұрын
@@BestNailTech Yes I understand there's no way to fix it, I meant purely to ask how to protect them until the new growth arrives. Aside from lots of moisturizing, I read/hear a lot of contradictory information on what product is best to protect them with from more damage in the mean time and was looking for more insight.

Thank you for all of your nail fundamentals playlist. I’ve been following you for a couple of months and have learned so much from you. I’m a DIY person and I love everything related to nails so I appreciate you using your knowledge to teach others. Your style of teaching is very detailed and I am able to easily follow you because you take the time to define and elaborate on what you are doing. If I may put it in one request, I would like to see you do a nail tutorial from start to finish with gel enhancements and a basic color over it. I would love to see everything put together from everything you’ve taught so far. Thank you so much!

I am so grateful for your educational videos and taking the time to teach us these important steps in nail care.💅I just purchased my first efile from Makartt. I've been hand filing to remove topcoat to soak my gels every 3 weeks or so for a couple years now. It takes so long and thought I should finally take the plunge and buy an e-file. I'll be sure to be careful, practice, and follow your instructions. Purchased a flexifinger to practice on too.

Hi, I love your videos! So informative and detailed. Your husband is such a good sport letting you use his hands for demo. I must say he has very clean and nicely manicured nails thanks to you. I think more guys should get their nails manicured as part of their regular grooming. It looks so much nicer than hang nails or dirt under their nails which is so unsightly. I give my husband manicures and pedicures and he loves the extra attention. Plus his nails look clean and professional when he goes to work. Thank you!

I can’t tell you how excited I get when I see a new video of yours pop up...like a kid on Christmas morning, lol. I grab a coffee, pop in my ear pods, and if hubby is around, he receives strict instructions to only interrupt if there’s a die emergency. Soak-offs for me used to be a big headache. My daughter can have hers off in 10 minutes, and it’d take me an hour. Whether it be prep, less-oily nail beds, whatever the cause, gels really adhere to my nails. So, I finally broke down and bought an acetone steamer. Wow! What a difference. Gels pop right off! What are your thoughts on steamers?
@TheNailHub5 жыл бұрын
Yes I have tried those as well and they do work well but only for some gel. I still prefer the wrap method for in the salon setting, but the steamers are good!

I'm learning so much and I'm so happy you did a video on E-Files because I want to invest in a good one and good bits. I was wondering, is there any special way of cleaning the bits when you get some soft gel on them while your filing. I was wondering if you have a chance, if you can show us how to disinfect the bits, would it be like disinfecting the nail implements ? I would appreciate this so much. Thank-you so much for doing this for us and sharing all this info., and keep being the wonderful person that you are !

Awsome as always! My question is, how would you handle it if you had done some minor to major damage is there anything you can do to to repair it? I understand safety and knowing what your doing is an absolute , just wondered as in the beginning of a career I know I did a small amount of damage . Happy new year! to you and Herman ! Cheers from Australia🌺🐨
@TheNailHub5 жыл бұрын
We all make mistakes. Best thing to do is pay close attention while working and if you accidentally cause some damage just leave it alone. For example sometimes I have given myself a ring of fire on my right hand because my left hand isn't as good at efiling. Once I notice I've filed a bit too much I leave that spot alone and let it grow out. Hope that makes sense

Funny thing, I'm not used to using the soak off method. When I was getting gel manicures 5-6 years ago, my nail gal would e-file the gel polish off, and leave the base. (Luckily, I had an e-file from a long time ago, and slowly and carefully, e-filed the color off, when my schedule got too busy to make gel manicure appointments. Those gel manicures literally would not chip off. They basically lasted until the nail completely grew out.)

Love your videos. They are so informative. Do you plan doing a removal of gel as well? I strugle with that since I do not see the diference in color of gel and nail bed. A few times I overfiled my nails. Now usualy I leave a layer of gel on the nails rather then hurting nail bed. But I'd love to learn see the diference for those persons who want to remove everything off

I never noticed you talking about that kind of products. Dear greetings from Switzerland and happy New Year to you and your loved ones, dear Liz.
@TheNailHub5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have tried numerous peel off base coats and they all seem to pull on the nail a bit. I much prefer to leave a protective layer of gel on my nails (aka overlay) and I work on top of that. Constantly touching or natural nails can wear them out.

Hi Liz. I've heard if you leave the acetone on too long when you're doing the soak off it'll dry and the gel will harden again; is that true? What is the max time it should be left on? Thank you again for the informative tutorial 🙂. Wishing you and yours a Happy New Year.
@TheNailHub5 жыл бұрын
Never heard that. No not true from what I know. Max time is 30 mins. After that it can cause uncomfortable sensations. And also if you're working on a client check in with them every 5 mins to make sure they do not feel any discomfort.

Another question... Can we use the soak off method if we have applied polish on a full cover overlay? Or will it remove all layers of gel including the overlay?
@TheNailHub3 жыл бұрын
On overlays its best to file off the color. You can use acetone to soften but it usually eats away at the whole thing making it a mess to file. Dry filing off the color is my preferred method.

Do you have any tips for removing product from the free edge portion of the nail? I find it the most stubborn bit and my clients like to grow their natural nails long so I find I have to wrap every finger twice. I might be not filing the free edge enough so I’m hoping an e-file will help (once I’ve taken my course and had some practice!)

@TheNailHub5 жыл бұрын
Yes absolutely as long as it's not a hybrid gel base. For example CND, Gelish, or Essie base wouldn't work long term because they aren't meant to last that long. I would recommend making sure the base you use is something that can be with long term. Anything that's more like nail polish won't be good.

So really the only way to remove gel polish is to use acetone? I feel the acetone really dries out the skin around my nails and causes the skin to peel.
@carolinaaraujo14934 жыл бұрын
I've heard that acetone is not good for the nails... Is that true? Anyone?
@TheNailHub4 жыл бұрын
Carolina Araújo acetone can be very drying and it also strips oils including natural oils. However it doesn’t actually damage the nail or eat it away or anything. One of the downsides of soaking off gel every time with acetone is you’re stripping the skin’s natural barrier oils which can irritate the skin and it makes nails dry. Check out my overlay tutorials to see me recommended method.
