Liz, thank you for such a detailed explanation. I've watched other channels and other trained nail techs have said "if your not a professional I don't suggest you do this at home." Thank you again for help those of us who are at home saving money and can't go to a salon because of the pandemic. I have both a hard gel in a jar and soft gel in a jar and I now feel better educated. Thanks again Liz.

OMG!! I’ve been using thinner builder gels and just started to use a much thicker one and for me, it’s a total game changer. The main reason for this is because my nails are tiny and so using something that doesn’t run easily is a revelation!! Mine does self level too so, win win! Thank you so much - I’ve learned EVERYTHING from your wonderful videos.

I was having hell with this extension gel I accidently bought (thought it was the thin stuff) and this video was a lifesaver! Did this over a natural nail and smoothed it out with an e-file and beautiful! Many thanks!

Can you do a video on Russian gel manicure application? Like where they do the whole efile manicure and then use base coat to even out the nail plate then apply the color then use top coat to even it out even more. I need to see exactly how to do this and I know you’ve mentioned the technique before

This video really helps as I tried to do stiletto nails on myself with forms for the very first time with an extremely thick builder gel last week (I'm a total beginner with forming nail extensions). I didn't know how to work with it, so the application was extremely messy, my nails came out terrible, it took me over 9 hours to complete both hands and it was overal really exhausting and frustrating. I think that I'll remove the extensions I made later this week to try again using the info of this video, so thank you for this video! 😊

I know this video is 2 years old, but really needed it tonight. I have this light elegance gel, first time using it. I have been doing the quick easy gel tips, but find I remove the entire set up and wanted to try just rebalancing. So after 2 very thick sticky nails started looking for help and here is your tutorial. I am proceeding. I felt insecure about fitting my forms, but that has gone well, and after watching your video, I feel prepared to do all 10 nails. I have been delighted how effortless this Light Elegance gel is to file and shape compared to other products. It would be very easy to over file. The gentle filing is almost worth admission. Thanks for your tutorial and will relax and get all 10 done!!

Great video Liz. I purchased an LE trial kit several yrs ago which had a small pot of builder gel. I tried it once and never again because I couldn't get it to work. I was using the paint on method which as you show doesn't work. Never thought of taking a big bead to work with. Great tip 👍🙂. Thank you for this video.

Thanks again Liz for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us!!! It's extremely important to know how and when to use which gels. This definitely helps during your client's service. I would urge everyone to like you said get to know your gel products (don't forget reach out to the company with questions/concerns and never stop learning *always something we didn't know*). I commonly see both licensed and nonlicensed nail technicians using their products incorrectly and playing the mix & match gel systems game. I do love builder gels for a great reverse french and extreme shaping (most would think only acrylic or polygel can do) 😊💅

I’m glad to see this. I am used to acrylic and have a very high sidewall to my nails and the thinner brush on gel is very difficult for this type of nail plate! If it’s a new overlay the thin is fine but now that they get longer and the end might wear and need a little building, I find even a rubber base such as madam glam is still not so easy to use. I have been considering using a polygel for the areas a need to patch so I don’t have to deal with this running problem! Any suggestions would be great! And btw… acrylic is just too hard to do on myself and more than I want all over.

Loved this video, I def feel more confident now with thick gels 🙏🏼 PS- If you ever make another video on fitting forms or include it in another video that would be 👍,bc I haven’t been able to find one that talks about fitting forms where the hyponychium is like square or straight, there’s no v shape or oval it’s just straight across and the actual nail and free edge tilt upwards kinda like (ski jumpish) nails and on top of all that.. there’s hardly any free edge or hyponychium to place the form on😩 So if you try and fit a form you get a pretty big gap unless you push the form up where your nail is and mess the form up and it tilts at an angle upwards instead of coming straight out from the nail. I try and make the form angle down so it will come out looking straight on my nails but It can be a mess but I still love working with forms lol I know that was a lot but I just thought I’d ask in case you see this! Thank you for all your videos! 😬

I’m glad you mentioned the straight hyponychium because that’s my issue with getting paper forms to fit on my fingers
@Monsoon0310
@Monsoon0310 3 жыл бұрын
Victoriia Klopotova has a class on how to fit nail forms correctly depending on the shape of the nailplate, but when it comes to adjusting nail forms - you need to cut out the shape as close to the shape of your free edge, as possible. so, if your hyponychium is straight - cut out some of the paper form to get it straigh and check with your free edge, if it's still not right-cut a bit more. What will help is also two cuts downwards, that will match the width of the nail - you'll be able to form sturdier nail with nice tunnel. Also, it doesn't really matter what shape is already cut out in your nail form (yes, it can be helpfull, because you'll have less to cut out), because you need to match it to your/your client's hyponychium. When it comes to the tilting upwards - depends on the nail shape, but what you need to do is, fist thing, to fit the shape of the nail form to the eponychium. Second, raise your arm, so that you can see your hand from the side and keep it straight. Look at your finger and put the form on. What we want, is to follow the line of your straigh arm with the nail form; with this nail plate we will always need to lower the nail form a bit (but not too much because you'll end up with not enough product around the apex area). We want to get the top of the nail form to be parallel to the line of your arm, or as close to parallel as possible. This is the main rule of nail form fitting for standard salon square nail, but when it comes to almond/oval/ballerina we want to tilt the nail form a bit lower. Ideally the end of the nail extension should be on the same hight as the natural nailplate closest to the cuticle. But with problematic nail shapes,such as the one you described, we need to adjust nail forms a bit lower or higher on order to get the thickness we need but still get the shape we want. So, with this nail plate the tip of the nail will never be on the same line with cuticle area. If you need visual representation - you can find plenty of pics, from russian/ukrainian nail techs with schemes on how to adjust forms to different nail plates and nail shapes and it's all on Pinterest ☺️ you'll just need to browse it a little but trust me, it's all there

Time ago I ask them (TheNailHub team) and they told me they don't consider polygel a gel and they only sell pure gels. So that's it, but in the case of polygel, you can find it with different names like acrygel, powder gel, etc. Honestly it doesn't tend to change the name a lot but you can easily know it's a polygel type product because it's going to be described as a hybrid or mix between powder acrylic and resin gel.
