Queen consort really means or just consort, is their companion though is still steeped in tradition where the male genders still seen as superior there's never therefore a King Consort (instead of Regina as in EIIR, which is the Latin word for Queen will be Rex being for King now something like CIIIR). Though was about in 2013 I think it was anyone born into the family (or aristocracy for that matter) after 2012 regardless of gender shall have an equal right to succeed/ascend/inherit. Will be now Charles Rex instead of seeing the EIIR crests when it was Elizabeth Regina.

We went and laid a floral tribute as a family at the Sandringham Estate today (where the Queen stayed nearly every Christmas) the whole thing was surreal. Such a large crowd, but very little noise, people talking to each other, to Police, to volunteers..... strangers brought together in quiet respectful shared mourning.... truly a once in a life time experience. God rest the Queen's soul. I will say this nobody does pomp, pageantry, planning and organisation better than us Brits... Hats off to all the staff and volunteers of The Sandringham Estate.

I'm not a monarchist and never have been, but the loss of the Queen has hit me in a way I never thought it would. She's always just been there in the background of all our lives, a living link to over a thousand years of our history. Her face and cipher has surrounded us, on our money, postage stamps, policemens' helmets - everywhere you look in the UK you'll see reminders of her - and it's going to be very strange to see all those small, everyday things gradually change to a new face, a new cipher, a new chapter in our history. Whatever your thoughts on the monarchy, she was, in every sense, a very great Lady who served the nation as best she could for over 70 years.

I must admit I was a bit unsure of Charles becoming King but he has got off to a great start. I do think he's going to nail it. When he went to Buckingham Palace for the first time as King he had the car stop just outside the gate and he and Camilla got out. The King went along the assembled crowd and shook the hand of what looked like EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the first 2 rows and thanked them for being there. Long Live The King!

@@paulbarnett227 What unsure exactly why? I met him for some few months of his time at Portland naval base, and there are many stories of his time there. He was a great binding person at the base, he was funny, and loved pranks on everyone including himself. He will be a great king, he is as humble as his mother was, and there is a story of a crash in Weymouth in which he was the victim so to speak, but his humour shone through even this event, and apparently the dawning look of shock on the woman driver's face was apparently something to watch, at no time in the events did he say who he was, use his royal status as an advantage, and just let it play out naturally.

As a proud brit, his majesty absolutely nailed it, it was perfect in balance and tone. His mother's death moved me to tears and Charles's speech made me cry again. @@ballockybill2277 how do any of us even know whether Charles even knew what Saville really was ? You’re making assumptions and that could land you in hot water if the proof isn’t there. It’s classed as defamation of character if he didn’t know. That’s something we’ll never get to know. But in the long run it’s best not to jump to conclusions. Lots of people at the BBC knew it but never said anything. It’s very easy to paint yourself to look like a saint like Saville did and get away with what he got away with for all those years unfortunately. Sad that he managed to go to his grave with his dirty little secret, rather than being caught and imprisoned.
@ScottyBugler2005

@@ballockybill2277 okay, but let’s not jump to conclusions anyway. Just because of the whole thing with Andrew..... we can’t just assume that they’re all that way inclined. Nothing has been proven in any case. There’s been celebrities that were accused during operation Yew Tree and those few that were innocent, have still had their lives irreparably damaged by the accusations. Saville got away with it because he gave himself that aura of invincibility. The fact that he was given the opportunity to get to vulnerable Broadmoor and hospital patients is scary. All those girls and I’m sure boys too from his days on Top Of The Pops and Jim’ll Fix It who he likely fondled will be mentally scarred for life. If only people had listened to Johnny Rotten and not covered for Saville. Saville will be burning in hell for all eternity with any luck.

The saddest part is that this family having lost a mother, grandmother and great grandmother were not really given the chance to grieve but were almost immediately expected to go out and meet people and listen to how the Queen's passing impacted them. But I guess that is the never-ending duty they're expected to shoulder. It's so easy to see that pain in his eyes.

Thank you for your lovely video. You said "We're just two American girls saying what we think..." I really loved hearing what you said and could see how the King's speech had affected you. Thank you, American girls (!) for posting your heartfelt responses to the speech and expressing the emotion of the moment. I really appreciated your comments. The King's message made me very emotional. Those of us in the Commonwealth (particularly where Her Majesty was our Queen - New Zealand, Canada, Australia and others as well as the UK) have grown up with her. I recall going to see her motorcade in 1986 with my hand-crayoned flag with my school. And then in London on my gap year on the balcony of the palace. Memories. In the Maori language, Arohanui ki a korua mo tenei hotaka (Our love to you two for creating this video) - this has made my day!

Gosh, you both move me with your respect and dignity. I have been surprised and humbled at the outpouring from people who are not connected to the UK or the Commonwealth. I would just like to say a huge thank you. The impact is massive, everything will change from our money, to our stamps and passports. Our Queen led a good dutiful life, she was well loved and is at peace with her Prince. Queens are rare in history. I am grateful to have been born under a Queen as great as Elizabeth.

A lovely video ladies. Your passion and warmth for our country is overwhelming. It was an honour for me to have served our Queen in the British Army for over 24 years. She didn't ask for the job but took on the role with such warmth and faith. I now live in Aberdeen and she loved spending her summers in Balmoral Castle. If you get the chance watch her journey from there to Edinburgh and see the stunning country alongside the River Dee. You will know why she loved Scotland. Again thankyou. God save the King

As a Canadian, Canada is part of the Commonwealth, and former member of the Canadian Armed Forces, of which the Queen/King is the Commander and Chief, this is a very sad event. The British Monarchy is a very important part of our history. I feel as time goes on this will change as more and more Canadians have immigrated from non Commonwealth countries. RIP Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, long live the King.

I have admired the Royals all my life. Queen Elizabeth was loved & cherished by everyone in the world. When I was a child, an English pen pal friend of my Mom's sent me a doll. To me Queen Elizabeth WAS England & I insisted that the Queen gave it to me. I even named the doll, "Princess Anne"! King Charles' talk was absolutely perfect. Prayers for him & the Royal family.

I've always loved Charles and Camilla so I'm happy that he is now King and didn't skip to William. After all, he's given his entire life to service as the heir of the throne so deserves the title. He's had a long wait for it. People have been wondering for over a decade if the Queen would step down/retire but she worked to the end. She formally greeting the new Prime Minister only about 2 days before she passed away.

The reaction to her death should make people think hard, Even British republicans paying respects and being emotional. Then the ease of transition to the King. Name any politician, celebrity, etc who would not be despised by some sections of society? Then the long, controversial and sometimes violent process in other nations. We have a very precious gift handed to us, the constitutional monarchy which produces such people. Charles has been prepared all his life and had the Queen as his teacher. Losing the monarchy would take only one election for a President to see that a terrible mistake had been made.

My family and I walked the long walk at Windsor yesterday, to lay flowers at the gates and pay our respects. We got there early (9am after a 2hr drive), but by the time we had walked back to the car park at about 11am the place was packed. He's got a tough act to follow, but I think maybe he's ready for it now. Good luck!
