Character Critiques - Johnny Vincent's Storyline [Bully]

For today's episode of Character Critiques, I'll be doing a overview of Johnny Vincent's storyline in Bully, where I'll be giving criticism over Johnny's character and the storyline centred around him.

The only clique leader aside from Russel that isn’t a scumbag. Johnny genuinely loves Lola, is talented with bikes, is a capable leader since most of the Greasers are loyal to him (which suggests he’s intelligent) and is a very skilled fighter. He also asks Jimmy for help and only becomes angry with him because he’s messing with his friends and winning the affection of his girlfriend. Johnny is also the only leader to stay neutral with Jimmy until Complete Mayhem since Jimmy helps him escape the Happy Volts Asylum. Johnny is grateful enough not to be hostile with Hopkins.

Johnny Vincent is by far my favorite character in Bully due to the attention to detail in his story line and the unique aspects to his and Jimmy's relationship. Great video, love your dedication to Bully, keep it up!

Poor Johnny, i think it is actually kinda cute and romantic in a very old-fashioned way how he has overly-sentimentally fallen for Lola, and how he suffers heartbreak all the time because of her makes me feel sympathetic. He seems to have some very movie-like ideas of how to be the king and how to get the girl.

Johnny is actually a decent person that due to his girlfriend and stress has a bad temper. He deserves someone better, that would make him happy.

I think Petey follows Jimmy through out the game. Constantly stating he wants to be involved and come with Jimmy but is ultimately shrugged off. This could explain why he is in the junk yard. He probably over heard the greasers planning the ambush and then snuck in to help Jimmy.

I think it makes sense but i guess jimmy never let He come with him bcs jimmy do things such as getting into violent fights all the time and ya know petey isnt exactly strong to get involved too He could be a pain in the ass in missions like "disonorable fight" for example bcs jimmy would need to defend him when The fight breaks up

I loved Chapter 3 and Johnny specifically. Like you said, Johnny’s storyline isn’t about Gary manipulating him (he does that later) or about taking over the school, Johnny really just needs Jimmy’s help. It’s a chapter focussed on love, which the other chapters are lacking (not that I mind, but it’s a nice addition). Johnny’s character and narrative never seem forced and everything he does seems to fit his overall character. I also believe Johnny, with Russell, is the only clique leader to actually come to think of Jimmy as a friend by the end of the chapter, whereas the other leaders mostly see him as a nuisance. That’s why I love what he says during Complete Mayhem about Jimmy leaving them and how it all went down the drain. Johnny is easily one of my favorite characters in the game and that’s mostly because of how fleshed out and well-written his character is!

Yep, pretty much every other chapter is Jimmy rivaling with a clique for near enough no reason (Bullies just wanted to bully the new kid, Preps were told lies by Jimmy, Jocks bullied Pete) while with Chapter 3, the rivalry between Jimmy and the Greasers was built up quite well, with Jimmy getting on their good side first, only to have it ruined by Lola, who is probably the only antagonist in the game who gets away with what she did.

Lola doesn’t know what she’s losing. Johnny is the perfect boyfriend. If she was loyal to him, they would be a perfect couple.

A great leader, actually cares about his fellow members, fights very well, has a great personality, cares for his girlfriend despite her cheating on him (Which means he legitimately likes her), has a very loyal friend and lieutenant (Peanut), is not a jerk unlike the other leaders (With the exception of Russell), is grateful, and a great character overall. He is my favorite clique leader.

why first did everyone think that jimmy did something to johnny, second that jimmy just wanted to help, and third johnny was the most likely leader to be allied with jimmy with the exception of russel, vance just says "johnny said you're not ours anymore friend but since you helped him, let's let you through"

When I played the game I was 15 and I thought Johnny was cool. Few years later, having experience some deep level paranoia and doing some similar shit but not ending up in an asylum, I completely understund his character.

Notice how when Jimmy beats up the 3 Greasers in the alleyway, Hal is in the cutscene afterwards, but during the fight it was Vance Peanut and Lefty.....

The reason jimmy knew where algernon was is because he has a magical map that tells him what locations to visit during missions.

This video shows how much potential Bully really had. The game is still awesome, but there are so many rushed parts and plot holes. If they added the deleted missions and fixed missions with plot holes, as well as a few other things, the game would be perfect. If they're making Bully 2, I hope they take their time to avoid the mistakes they made with Bully.
