The reason they called you liars is because of how this conversation again was handled. You said that Alex's words were taken out of context. Words were not taken out of context, Alex clearly stated "People were talking about how Rory and Mal were discussing work flow and being underpaid and overworked." So the flow of the conversation from that point carried the feeling that Rory and Mal were leading the sentiment of the meeting by feeling those things and were venting to you guys and the other people present. That narrative came off stronger because Alex kept stating "Im just an employee and I dont know whay they were saying that to me." Which again paints the picture Mal and Rory were pushing ALL 3 topics when maybe the reality is they were in agreement with workflow but the pay and overwork was Savon and other employees. The fact that you guys breezed over this reality again is exactly why it comes off like you did not want to full be transparent. I think you did a great job in the interview with Joe and offered great push back. It even seemed at the beginning of this episode that you were going to hold Alex accountable for "maybe accidentally" mispeaking. But if I had the animosity those guys have towards for what Joe did to them and you guys mischaracterized the conversation that led to it all I would be just as hot. Focusing all your attention on their reaction to your mistake was another mischaracterization and how it made you feel took away from any attempt at clearing things up and felt like you were letting your co host off.

They were just discussing their confusion about the change in workflow and schedule because Patreon was introduced so they were doing more episodes per week. - Savon was the one that felt overworked and underpaid like most employees do. - Alex was thinking why Mal and Rory were mentioning their questions/confusion to him because that was "out of his tax bracket" so to speak not because Mal and Rory came to him to vent. It was just an organic discussion. - Joe (and I assume Ian as well) was the only one that really knew what was going on with the change in workflow. - Savon and Alex felt that the disrespect from Mal was unwarranted.

@ 11:35 - I think the point is that Rory and Mal were not complaining, you presented it to Joe in that context, you both did make seem like they were salty and complaining about the workflow.
@OriginalBoondocksXVIII Жыл бұрын
Exactly. Alex is being obtuse. Budden has managed to make a narrative stick that Rory and Mal are lazy and ungrateful and were essentially dead weight. "Bare and Minimum." So his original framing that they came to the staff with complaints of being overworked and underpaid BEHIND BUDDEN'S BACK makes them look a way.
@DonNaReD2269 Жыл бұрын
@@OriginalBoondocksXVIIIthank you! You seem the be the only one who gets it! That’s why Rory and Mal had that energy on the Patreon episode. And who wouldn’t if mf’s are contributing to a false narrative about them? Smh
@billy2069 Жыл бұрын
Maturity is coming on here and saying you had a poor choice of words and this is what you meant. Maturity is getting on the phone and speaking to Mal about his ball glazing comment. The lesson is your choice of words and context matters. This is a battle of public opinion maturity is realizing your walking on a thin line and understanding you have to be sensitive to both sides.

Damn, yall had another good opportunity to grow as podcasters. You knew when you had Joe on that it would be messy and salacious. The meeting was not portrayed properly on your podcast. The most neutral person, Parks, just shut this whole gaslighting session down. As a fan, it sucks that neither of you could simply apologize for the miscommunication you instigated. And side note, you needed Regi to hold you both accountable.

Let’s not do this fellas. Instead of running with this narrative, Alex could have retracted and apologized for putting the overworked/underpaid on R&M’s jackets. It’s really that simple. They went on record the last JBP podcast they ever did that they never felt that way. Let’s do a better job next time. Hopefully we can still see a WYNTK/R&M crossover sometime in the future when tensions have died down

The response here is definitely lacking accountability and being very obtuse at the same time. Savon and Alex definitely lied and didn’t tell the story in its entirety. Parks even called it out. Parks said it on the JBP (episode 673 - ‘55m:32sec’ mark) for anyone who wants to catch it. Y’all ain’t slick. Alex is trying to be VERY slick. PARKS: “Joe went up there with Savon and mistold the story. I understand the other gentlemen’s (Rory and Mal) reason for frustration with that…I was ALSO UPSET ON HOW THIS WAS REITERATED, RETOLD. They left out some key details…. They (R&M) have a right to be mad at that”.
