Here's a little tidbit you may not know: There are Nightkin in caves separate from these main groups you mentioned. Aside from being another encounter for the Courier to gun down, if you remain in stealth and listen to their ambient dialogue, they will mention things related to the Courier's current companions even when they're unaware of the Courier's presence. It's a very hidden continuity reference to the psychic powers the FEV virus induced in Fallout 1.
