Every time I hear this song, I imagine Freddie sitting on a bar stool, in a smoke filled room, drinking his special brew, all the while sulking with his Melancholy Blues!! 🚬😮💨💨🥃🍸🥜🪑.. Please do .. DREAMER’S BALL & MILLIONAIRE WALTZ

My vision is close, but I see Freddie as the lone piano player in that room singing to all the other broken souls and sharing their same feelings as he plays. He is hoping all along that by the end of the night, his tip jar will be full and perhaps someone will actually want to buy him a drink and spend a few minutes with him in gentle conversation, offering a ray of hope for the future or at least an hour or so stroll along the dark streets of the city with something (and someone) more than his lonely melancholy thoughts. I love character development, can you tell?

I love the old-time style of this song, it is so much fun but kind of a blues song as well. I think his new occupation is being stuck in a melancholy state of mind, not really drinking alcohol. I think the special brew is more of wanting to be diverted but more by someone than alcohol and that the term is a metaphor for the feeling he used to have with his former partner. Thank you for another great reaction.

Thanks for giving this one a try, it always gives me immediate images of a smoky dive bar at oh so silly o'clock, I love this song so much. Two more you might like to try are 'Dreamers Ball' and 'Cool Cat'.

What Freddie meant by this song is unimportant. (FYI - You do know that Freddie was gay?) What was important to him is what the song meant to you personally. Freddie was a big fan of Jimi Hendrix who was a bluesman (listen to Hendrix's album BLUES). Prior to Queen, Freddie was in an R&B/ Blues group called Wreckage.
