the Breakfast Club turned into a scary movie....great movie! it really had fun with itself. also, i didn't go to an inner city high school, so i don't remember quite that much drama. the opening of this movie is some bizarre distortion of highschool, i think, but for a movie that wants to argue alien, final solutions as its arching theme, then i dig it.

The Faculty is an undervalued horror gem that got mistaken for generic "teen-horror." It wasn't groundbreaking but it was an entertaining action-packed version of the Body Snatchers. It was campy but not so much that it parodied itself.

Wow. I remember seeing this as a kid (must have been about 7), but a few things always stuck with me: the principal getting attacked with the pencil/scissors, baby Elijah Wood, and the segment with the bleaches closing on the queen. But, wow, it's crazy seeing so many familiar faces in the cast. Baby Usher! Famke Janssen! John Stewart??? Thanks for the delightful review, I think I'd like to rewatch the film again, for old time's sake.

First time I predicted your bee rating correctly before half-time. Yesssss! And: Kudos, correct assessment, 3.5 bees is adequate. I love Rodriguez’s movies. Btw: I even like his kid’s movies because my children can watch a Rodriguez movie w/o the usual amount of kills and curse words. I actually enjoyed “We could be heroes” myself.

The teachers fingers...did they 're-attach to the teachers hand? If not, there's your answer.) In other news, please give each of your kitty buddies chin scratches for me (especially the tiger stripped one..the first one shown...OMG, looks to e such a love bug!!!

I was in high school when this came out. Definitely not what high schoolers looked like at the time. More of a Hollywood version of high school trends and styles of that time. Very good movie that works great as a double feature with Disturbing Behaviour. I think the ending is a bit of a goof on teen movies where everything is back to normal. It's why Famke Jenssen wears a scarf, to cover the scars of being decapitated.

The Faculty turns 25! Made $63.2 million The film has a fresh batch of teen actors with quality acting, a terrific score as usual by Marco Beltrami, and makes lots of references to other science-fiction stories It's also got some clever camerawork, a hip soundtrack, and some clever winks of the genre Okay so some might complain this is a direct ripoff of'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' or 'The Thing' and I can see why Some of the CGI is very dated and it doesn't have a consistent tone not to mention the third act taking some misogynistic tropes Yet Robert Rodriguez is a very versatile director so he tries dipping his hand into the teen 90's horror craze that 'Scream' made popular doing a sort of John Hughes meets John Carpenter schtick The characters could be considered outcasts by one could relate to, combining yearning and cynicism and isolation In a way the aliens are a metaphor for these teenagers making their way through the landscape of adults not knowing how to navigate with the only hope being that they have to band together against the chaos This is a cult classic of the time period now from the slang to the wardrobe to the visual effects getting to the core of teenage existence This takes a jab at the class system taking peer pressure to a new level It’s the teenage mindset with plenty of morals around living in a world where everyone can belong, nobody having to be an outcast, all facts are based on some fiction, is everyone hung up on the science portion of these kinds of stories?, is it better to feel no fear no pain no worries in a collective whole, we are tired of being something we are not Rodriguez makes the kind of film with enough pulpy ness and teenage angst with a dash of sci-fi making this quite an underrated gem It’s bad enough high school can be terrifying struggling to survive being alienated but another to have it entirely being taking over by actual extraterrestrials

I mean, if I was still emotionally exhausted and distressed (and likely sleeping late to make up for fitful sleep riddled with nightmares), I’d stop wearing eyeliner, too. It takes the longest and commonly requires the most precision. Why she was wearing that ugly outfit at the end is beyond me. (Not really; I own The Breakfast Club.) But for *this* movie, it doesn’t really make sense for her to go shopping and change her whole wardrobe with the trauma of the whole story. She’s probably stay home a lot, and wearing the same clothes is normal and doesn’t come with the sense of uncertainty while trying on light pink clothes for the first time. Considering the water factor for the aliens, I’m surprised she didn’t have the greasiest hair and stink lines coming off of her body and breath.
