John, I’m 73. I’m waiting until the tech life blows over too. But in the meantime, my iPhone has a cover, I use the cloud, and don’t bother with “Siri”. Again, I’m 73 and come from the days of rotary phones and no seat belts. Get with it all now before you get entrenched in the crotchity. Get a good child proof case, join the cloud and listen to Tara. She understands the assignment. And give her the yellow tile.

Not happy John just vetoed Tara’s tile when she’s the main one in the kitchen. And secondly the blues do not match Tara was right it needs a soft buttery yellow it’s a complimentary color for blue. Usually John listens to Tara’s wishes and the tile thing really bothered me. 😢

I’m so glad to see that both boys are OK after the phone drop. They are so precious! I absolutely love that shade of blue paint, but not with the tiles I’m afraid. I do know that if you keep it, you’ll accessorize the kitchen in a way that will totally change my mind! I bet you can sneak in the yellow tile in another way. Great technique, John, for nudging that sink into place!😂😂

I am a 78 year old woman. If I wanted a small yellow tile in my kitchen counter , it would not need to be discussed. Blue and yellow do not clash. Someone needs to give in a bit? I know he is proud of his work and rightly so.

I think the color in the old kitchen was truly very beautiful. The dark color would make the new kitchen dark, especially because you don't have large windows in this room.

Hello Newby's... I understand John's love of blues and greens, they are a soothing, calming colors. But many things in nature are yellow to brighten our world. For example, 🍋🍌🍍🧀🌅🐥🐤🌻🌼🌾🐝 How did you keep from laughing "Caring is sharing."

When renovating my kitchen, I remember sending the children upstairs for a bath, forgetting the dishes were in the bath! When i went up to check, there were two of them in the bath, 'washing' the dishes along with themselves in bubbles, while the 3rd was 'drying' them in the bath towels... happy days x

John, take it from a woodworker - seal the insides of your drawers and cabinets with polyurethane. The raw wood absorbs humidity from the unfinished side. It will eventually warp your panels. Just a pro tip.

I actually had 2 big yellow sinks in my kitchen in the United States, they were absolutely gorgeous and always made me happy. One was in the island and the double sink was in the wrap around counters. The camera top was some stone from Italy because my husband's Italian. It was black with this beautiful iridescent blue, like blue morpho, blue. It was really pretty, I miss that kitchen.

I must be honest I watch these vlogs through my fingers when your doing any work using tools, machinery, etc and the children are around.. and sawyer climbing up that metal railing omg my anxiety is through the roof 😮.. ( I work with 60 4-10 year olds every day I never see this much danger 😂) .. love the kitchen tiles… John 100% needs a phone case.. lesson learnt ❤

On the subject of iCloud: Data like documents and photos remain on iCloud after you stop paying, but syncing stops if you’re over the free storage limit. This means you can’t add more data without managing your storage. So no scenario of paying for a lifetime to access your files. ;) Ps. Love what you are doing! More inspiring then you might think.

John, you definitely need to buy a case for your phone. My husband keeps refusing to get one for his phone and had to change the screen twice, as he keeps dropping it. And I agree that the blue tile goes well with the background, but I will go with Tara as the yellow tile would add some colour to the kitchen top and it would look great !

Oh good Lord I was so nervous about that sink! So afraid it would crack! Things are coming along very nicely. I am NOT a fan of the color yellow! However a little yellow to make Tara happy is a wonderful idea! Maybe a soft yellow somewhere, it would match with your blue for sure. Your boys are making me a little nervous 😅 but you guys handle them so well… great parents the two of you! I wish when I was raising my daughter I would have been a calm parent but unfortunately I was not! Took after my nervous mother. I love the way you parent! I'm with Tara on the wood at the back of the worktop to be left natural. It sets it off and if you are using a trim to the edge of worktop also it will look great together. I couldn't watch the sink bit, I thought something was going to give the wooden units or the sink which would go first. 😂

Chris, yellow is a great colour for the sun and some flowers, especially lily’s. But in kitchens yellow is basically a non starter. It’s a law of some obscure country, somewhere. I think.
