What does the Bible have to say about how a Christian should live in relation to the government?
In Romans 13:1-7, the Apostle Paul recognized that all authority comes from God, and because of this, we are to submit to the governing authorities. Second, we are to pay taxes and show honor. When we honor the authorities God has ordained, we honor God’s authority. Two things are accomplished when we submit and obey: 1) We avoid punishment, and 2) We achieve a clear conscience.
