@playdoh6583 жыл бұрын
right I thought it was just me 💀💀💀
@Jokaanan3 жыл бұрын
That's very insightful, and there is something to it! This list describes affective empathy (emotional empathy) rather than cognitive empathy. That basically means, the tendency to automatically re-create your perceived idea of what someone else is feeling in your own nervous system, and thus feel it yourself. Cognitive empathy, on the other hand, is the tendency to accurately perceive what others are feeling, which requires some unconscious mental math and often also involves conscious/intentional perspective-taking. The conditions you mention (autism, anxiety, and ADHD) are all linked to sensory sensitivity and/or emotional lability (which are interrelated). It makes sense that people with those conditions would have higher affective empathy, because their sensory/emotional systems are more easily activated. It doesn't necessarily mean they are better at guessing what other people are actually feeling. This can interplay with the struggles that people with those conditions experience; for example, we may think others are negatively judging us more often than us than is the case because we are prone to feeling shame (which is the empathic manifestation of others' perceived disgust). Perceiving more negative judgement causes us to feel even more shame, and our shame becomes a self-perpetuating force. Positive socialization & practices that support accurate cognitive empathy - such as asking people for more information about how they are feeling, instead of assuming - tend to make a big difference for someone w/ any of those conditions :)

As an empath, I enjoyed this video greatly. I found myself sensing the subtle energies of the video, like the fact it is exactly 19 (nineteen) minutes long. There were also many moments in the video in which Noah's face shifted, indicative of what we empaths call 'facial expressions'. I certainly caught on to those, which arrived often when Noah was watching a video in which people experienced life events (moments) and indicated (strongly, for me at least) emotional responses. I honestly think "empaths" are a reaction to living in an abusive household. Someone who has to be hypervigilent especially to others emotions in case they blow up.

As a kid I used to feel bad for food because my brother would sometimes crush/destroy the stuff he didn’t like. I’m being 100% genuine, I still remember the feeling I got in my chest.

@@Uhhhemi I still feel sad for inanimate objects sometimes. I feel bad for toys left in the dumpster, I always buy the damaged can of cola because no one else wants it, etc. It's pretty tiring and I don't know where I got it but I always felt this way.

I always have a soft spot for military parents coming home. Both of my parents were in the military and were sent to the first gulf war when I was little. Them coming home was everything to me. Now I tour with bands and it feels the same when I come home to my young son.

Bro respect and salute to you and your family. As a marine, thats exactly why I got out I could never understand trying to raise a family in that environment. I feel like his son will struggle with holding his father as a hero yet resenting the fact that'll hell constantly be gone. Also shout out to the faithful military wives, idk how they do it as thats alot to ask of a partner so they deserve their flowers. I have my son now and I couldn't picture being away from him for that long. Goodluck to you and I wish you all the best and happiness in the world. Also what instrument and what kind of music do you play?
