Absolutely one of your best Vlogs. Congratulations 🎉 on the beautiful floor you PoshBots! 😄. I can’t understand why you don’t have tons of subscribers. Your videos are so well done. The editing, the DIY fails and successes, the humor, the realness when frustration hits. Especially the perseverance the two of you have and seeing the joy when a job is completed. I know Wes and Amy @BoatTime talked about you several times in their Vlog last week, and were inspired by your hatch work, and @CaniceBannon on his Dutch Barge De Vrouwe Linda has also. You definitely are one of my favorite channels with Chris’ Hatch Makey Thingy, and Becca’s skills working with wood. 😊🤗❤️ Kathy

That floor is just amazing Beccs, it really is beautiful. You’re like Henri, a perfectionists, this is how so many of our conversations go, “that bit there could have been a bit better it’s 1,000th of a mm out”. “I can’t see it, it looks fine to me’. “But I can, it needs to be fixed”. Does this sort of thing sound familiar Chris? Beccs you have really done an amazing job congratulations on the floor, in fact congratulations on the whole kitchen, absolutely brilliant. Don’t worry about the wood swelling in the summer as it’s swelled the most now as it’s the dampest in the winter. The wood drys out in summer so never swells.

What a brilliant job of the floor. The hatch is not just useful, but a real feature with the brass pull. If you have any more insets to cut in the timber, turn the chisel upside down, the bevel on the bottom makes it more accurate to cut it flat. Consider Osmo oil for the finish. Dead easy to apply and it soaks in rather than forming a top layer, also just need to wipe down before re-coating and lasts for years.
@TheNomadicCrobot Жыл бұрын
Thank you 😊 Oh wow thanks for sharing that, that's really useful to know. Il definitely remember that in future. I was going to use Osmo oil as I had read up on it and heard it was really good but then I found another one that someone had compared to Osmo and it was also really good and almost identical but just a bit more cost effective! It's called Oli natura, have you heard of it? It was about £15 cheaper so a better option for us and our budget! 😊

Joiner Expert here again, lol, when laying a solid wooden floor you should always work from one side only just like laying Laminate flooring, you shouldn't try to work from both sides and try and fill in the middle run/lengths that's how you get tight joints with now gaps at all, but you seemed to have done okay somehow, and the best Wood Glue to use is in my opinion is Tight Bond, well done and keep up the good work it's coming along okay. Oh wow thank you so very much for your kind gift. We noticed that KZbin automatically sends a 'thanks' message and doesn't actually alert us so we would hate to come across as ungrateful by not thanking you fully. We really appreciate it Simon. Sending you big thanks and we hope you are having a wonderful day 🥰

Well done Bex and thanks for those words of inspiration. I am in the middle of sanding and varnishing a wooden floor at my house in Cape Town and I too can "spot some things" but overall I am happy with the result thanks to you for sharing and encouraging 🥰

You can burn plywood and it burns very hot from the glue that is in it. Try a few small bits in your stove. Very nice job by the way.
@TheNomadicCrobot Жыл бұрын
Is it ok to burn with all that glue in it? We weren't sure if it would chock up the chimney? Thank you 😊

Now I've subscribed I'll chip in with how to hold a hand saw. Keep your forefinger straight along the side of the saw. It really helps with support and guidance. Cheers from Bali.
