when you're depressed enough to be suicidal, it's hard to dig yourself out of that darkness. you can be the best dad, the best friend, the nicest person, or seemingly the happiest person but once those thoughts infiltrate your mind and get louder and louder at a certain point for some people it gets harder to fight it off. some people succumb to those thoughts. all it takes is one very very low moment for you to make that irreversible decision. that doesn't make you weak, it doesn't mean you didn't fight. it just happens and it's sad and it's tragic every time it happens but people who die by suicide are not weak and shouldn't be shamed for it. they are sick and sometimes the sickness wins. and that's all there is to it.

Recovering Alcohol addicts have sponsors for this very reason. When they feel it's getting too much , they have someone to call , someone to support them, encourage them in that low moment not to give in. I think suicidal people need someone like that too. A physical person preferably rather than a helpline.

Ted's words about how he'd never let anyone get by him without thinking they might be in pain... hearing them and watching the first season again makes so many things make sense. His wanting to help, and his acceptance of people where they are at that moment. A lot of it seems to stem from that.

In regards to your question of how Keeley figured out that Rebecca was with Sam: Rebecca had texted Keeley that she ran into Sam at the same restaurant when she went on her Bantr date, and Keeley knew the players were using Bantr since she pushed for them to use it. So Keeley probably just put two and two together at that point

Initially, I wondered why Ted's happily married father would take his own life. But after the same thing happened to Stephen tWitch Boss, I realized that even a seemingly happy family man can be battling inner demons that most of us would be unaware of.

Absolutely right about Brett Goldstein. He was first a writer on the show. When they finished the writer's room he emailed them a self-tape he made. Here is what he said about it: “If this makes you at all uncomfortable or if this video is shit and if you’re at all embarrassed for me, then just pretend you never got it. I will never ask if you got it. We can still be friends.” SPOILER He's also Hercules in the end credit scene of Thor: Love and Thunder

It's hard for someone contemplating suicide to be understood by those who never have. It's not really about whether moment to moment you can be happy or sad, or whether you can make people laugh or cry. Depression doesn't feel like a regular emotion, it doesn't really fit the catagory. It's a full stop when emotions are descriptive words. It leaves no room for sadness or even grief, it simply tells you things will never get better. You can read your sons book to help him pass a test, teach him how to shoot pool and still feel you're not doing enough, that it'll never be enough. And that's not even YOU talking, it's like a tumor in your brain constantly cycling through the worst things about yourself and your life and putting the worst spin on even the best moments. Often the people who make you laugh and smile the most are doing so out of some sense of 'duty', to justify their own existence. Because without that, what are they really offering as a person? Of course, it should be obvious a person doesn't HAVE to justify their life, but to someone suffering depression that simply isn't a viable option. It's dismissed as fantasy or delusion, when the worthlessness is the real delusion. The irony is, I'm strongly in favor of people's autonomy over their own life... and therefore their own death. Accepting I wanted to die years ago made me realise that just having that option, knowing I could CHOOSE to keep living or choose the alternative, helped me make that transistion. For me it was that 'easy' (except it wasn't), but for others it takes medication, because depression is an illness that preys on your mind. But I do believe that anyone should have the right to choose to end their own life... or choose to live it. Forcing someone to stay alive who doesn't want to with no hope of their life improving is the cruelest thing you can do. That being said, that's why mental health institutions are so vital in modern society. People suffering from depression aren't always able to make the choice I made, sometimes it's not a choice: it's a treatable illness that can get better with time. At the end of the day, it's up to every person to make that choice, but it's not surprising such an unthinkable choice is so hard for others to understand.

It's a 29 year old movie that isn't really considered as a must-see movie. I think it was generally well received but it's a pretty small movie that I think did modestly at the box office so I'm not surprised that The Normies haven't seen it. I remember watching their reactions to the community episode that had references to The Breakfast Club and it went over all of their heads and that movie is a classic. Would be great to have them react to Four Weddings but their channel is so big they'll probably never get around to seeing a small British movie from the early 90s.

Once again, Pat and I are on the side of integrity, the women on the couch are in some female justification. You can want him because he's hot, and justify that to yourself because "he's changed," but Pat's right: if he was really a good guy he wouldn't be trying to lure her out of the relationship she's in that she is perfectly happy and well-treated in; integrity is doing the right thing even when it's not going to get you what you want, because it's right. And here's one that might hit home with the ladies more strongly: If he'll cheat *with* you, he'll cheat *on* you. If he doesn't respect what she and Roy have, he's not going to respect what he and she has, he's just doing it because it's what he wants right now, and she just remembers how good the sex was. The story about Ted and his dad is heartbreaking...but also shows exactly why Ted is how he is. His dad staying up and reading the book for Ted was sweet - but it wasn't the right thing to do. The right thing to do was either to get on Ted about reading it in the first place, or to let him face the consequences of his actions. It says a lot about why Ted is so prone to not holding people accountable and letting them slide when he should actually push them. As far as the song, she wasn't singing it for her dad - she was singing it for her mom. It was her way of letting her mom know she was sorry and she loved her. Remember, her mom mentioned that the song reminded her of the time that she and Rebecca used to be close.

Sam was 19 in s1, and depending on how long he had been in the club, she could have meet him as a minor. Even though, she definitely has been his boss since he was a teenager first living away from home. He is 21, she's 45+, it is not illegal, but they are definitely not compatible for a long-term thing. They are in different times of their lives, Sam is making big bucks and climbing up as a player, he likes to party and have fun, he is coming into adulthood. While Rebecca has come out of a failed marriage where she was abused and she has expressed the wish of having a family before, and she, realistically, wouldn't get this with Sam, even if he seems mature for his age at times, he often acts his age too, he is a lot dependent on his parents (father specially) still, he is just a boy growing into a man. He is closer in age to her goddaughter than to her and would be closer in age to a child if they would have one. Also, they could never go public without facing backlash, she owes the club that owes his contract. That is a major power imbalance, even without considering the age/financial/maturity difference.

@@darthekul1 The BBC is an abbreviation for the British Broadcasting Corporation, founded in 1922. It's a radio & TV broadcasting service. About 50 years later, the porn industry coined the phrase Big Black C**k, also known as BBC. Now this trope has its historical origins in slavery, whereby white slave owners perpetuated this notion of Black male slaves, to further the discourse of them being nothing more than animalistic, hypersexualised, uncivilised, uneducated & hyper-violent sub-humans in nature. Suraj, in all his clownish ignorance has decided to repeat this trope as a joke again & again. There _are_ stereotypes for men of South Asian heritage having miniscule p*nises; & rooted in Imperialism & Colonialism, South Asians known as being dirty, diseased & a threat to hygienic people. Let's guess how eager Suraj would be to turn _those_ deep-seated racist tropes into jokes.... He's inane.🙄

He was a writer throughout the series and was an executive producer also. Also, Coach Beard's girlfriend Jane is another executive producer. This is like a home brewed so.
