Oz didn't become a werewolf because it runs in his family, it's because his little cousin bit him. It was easy to miss because it's in the same scene that Larry said that he had been bit by a dog. Oz comments that he had been bit by his cousin who "doesn't like to be tickled."

"Love Potion #9" is a song by songwriting superstars Lieber and Stoller and recorded by black R&B group The Clovers in 1959, but later popularized by white pop group The Searchers. In the song, the love potion backfires and makes the guy who bought the potion start "kissing everything in sight".

He could have turned him but I don't think the timing would have worked for the theatrics he would want. If I was Angelus I would repeat the rose and note motif. We all know what the uploader was thinking with _"We Talk About Ear Play"_ and _"Buffy nude"_ (as stated in their comment they considered). I'm also surprised the video's title had the correct episode title considering their butchering of it. 😁 I laughed so hard when Suraj asked if Xander and Buffy were going to get together and couldn't wait for the spell to start. I also laughed hard at Pat finding out how the spell worked. Watching Suraj and Pat acknowledge Drusilla's possible infatuation had me waiting to see their reactions to her under the spell. But the hardest I laughed (this one not because I was amused though) was The Normies applauding good guy Xander. The whole episode revolved around Xander attempting revenge on something Cordelia had a right to do (dump Xander) whether people agree with the decision or not, and whether they agree with when she did it (Valentines Day) or not. I disagree with Suraj in that Xander wasn't abusing the power. Taking away Cordelia's right to dump him, and free will in general, only to dump her is horrible. On top of that her obsession could have turned deadly on him. Xander's revenge plot makes my sympathy for him disappear. When Cordelia gets back together with him at the end, I feel even more sympathy for how much he doesn't deserve her as her whole reason for breaking up with him initially was choosing between two groups that the world pits against each other. Xander shows that, even if Cordelia doesn't realize it, neither group is worthy of her hanging out with them. The Buffy Rat equals Sarah Michelle Gellar hosting SNL. Cordelia said, "Keep your mom-aged mitts off my boyfriend...former," but The Normies missed the "former" line because they reacted to the boyfriend line so loudly.

Interesting, because, yes, this episode is comedic-heavy, but other Xander-centric episodes, not so much. The Zeppo one you just mentionned, or The Replacement. They have their comedic moment for sure, but they also deal heavily with Xander's emotional status, in quite a serious way. One thing I always love about Xander I guess, he has some of the best speeches, in the future at least (that's not really his thing yet, but it will be)!

A common fan theory on this episode is that Amy didn't mess up the spell and what messed it up was the fact Xander was trying to use an evocation (i.e. calling on a higher power) love spell with spiteful intentions. This likely insulted the Goddess they were evoking, making her deliberately screw with it.
@briangak8815
@briangak8815 2 жыл бұрын
Huh that’s a decent theory. I always just kinda thought Amy messed up the spell and made it affect everyone and it just didn’t work on Cordelia because she was already in love with Xander but that makes a lot more sense

It's not so much a fan theory as it is implied. The point of saying the intent has to be pure. Magic is already an uncertain art, if you add in an uncertain motive, to a multifaceted deity. It doesn't require the deity to be insulted for things to go wrong.

Mark 3:09. 🎉🎊 Finally! The return of, "Harmony Kendall", as played by one, Mercedes McNab! I've been waiting! It took long enough! I've "met", ahem, cardboard "Spike", "Yoda", and "Buffy", at the same time, as they were set up so that you could pose with them for a picture, one at a time probably, but my friend managed to get me and them in the same frame. 🤔 I've met an actor named, "David", whose last name I can't read, so I don't remember it. It wasn't the actor that plays, "Angel", by the way! I've met, Armin Shimerman, more than once. But out of all my, "Buffy/Angel", moments at conventions, Mercedes McNab, was my favorite and most fun! 🤩😘. Though I wish that she had teamed up with, Julie Benz, so that they could call it the, "Mercedes-Benz Tour"! They may have been thought of it, but their lawyers probably told them no. 🤔 (No, I missed out on meeting, Julie!) By the way, if you've seen the first two live-action movie versions of, "The Addams Family", with Christina Ricci as, "Wednesday Addams", then you've seen, Mercedes, before she was in this series and, "Angel". She was the, "Girl Scout", in the first one, and the not so happy camper in the second one. Mercedes, told me that she was told, that each character was different, and not the same girl!

I dated a girl in college. She was my second girlfriend and the first time I did the breaking up. I texted her, "we need to talk", to prep her expectations, then I met her in person and then broke up. I feel like you should text first so they know what's coming, but do the break-up and discuss why in person. And always give the reasons why. I broke up with her because of what she was doing, and I told her. People can't improve if you don't air your complaints.

As a forty eight year old - while I agree that your reasoning seems sound - I can't help but laugh at how different the modern world is, as expressed through your post here. "I feel like you should text first" was an option which didn't exist not tht long ago. but, so much has changed so quickly, from the presence in school of personal, internet-accessible telephones to wardrobe. When I was in school, in the nineties (and things i've seen seem to show that Gen X was more conservative in this area than what came before or after), shorts which ended as short as a couple inches above a woman's thigh were absolutely unheard of, in high school or college. Today....

Mark 5:58. Oh wait! Seth Green! I just realized that I only saw his name in the opening credits of something new that I viewed last night, so I looked for him, but I guess that I didn't recognize him, and I forgot until just now. Hmm. 🤔 "Young Sheldon"? 🤔 No. "Ghosts"? 🤔 No. "Walker: Independence"? 🤔 Maybe? "Alaska Daily"? 🤔 Maybe? Well, "Google", just adds to the confusion! His face is hairy enough now to have been in the pilot episode of, "Walker: Independence", but he has also replaced, Jim Gaffigan, in the series, "DC's Stargirl"! I didn't even know that, JG, was in that!

Mark 15:59. In one of the, "Monty Python", movies, a guy is chased to his death, by bare breasted girls in roller skating gear! He goes off a cliff, and into his awaiting casket, and once he is pronounced dead, his beach memorial service begins. It turns out that he was about to die soon, but he wanted to die on his own terms, and that was how he wanted to go! 😎😁

So now we know. In the Buffyverse, a pove spell is one of the most dangerous spells possible. A lot of shows like to make light of it and how it would most likely be abused. The show didn't really want to touch the likely rape aspect of a love spell too much, so they showed how forcing a strong obsession will bring the likely bad and violent side effects strong obsessions bring.

This is a super cool , funny , suspense filled episode. Xander becomes the obsession of many many high girls and adult women caused by witchcraft. The directing is so good I like this naughty side of Willow and Buffy, Ms. kicking up her own naughty behavior. And OMG! Buffy’s Mother too. Hilarious. A favorite. ❤❤❤

I realise this episode is a pivotal step in Xander's growth, in fact while he's never perfect I don't think the amount he does (eventually) mature gets recognised. However I don't think you should get any credit for not taking advantage of a magic-roofied person.

Why not? 99% of teenage lads would definitely take advantage of that scenario.

I think by 90's standards it's supposed to indicate he's 'doing the right thing' but yeah, as with most television it didn't age super well in spots.

Fun fact : , Buffy was pretty much absent throughout the episode even though it's not noticeable. Sarah was rehearsing and doing SNL that week, hence the excuse of turning her into a rat to justify her lack of screen presence!
