The character designer and key art is done primarily by a different art then supers was. The artist behind Broly is Naohiro Shintani, which is why it looks and animates so differently from supers, more saturated look.

A couple trivia notes. First, Vegeta acknowledged Tarble as canon, his younger brother. Second, The first time in ALL the franchise including the NON-CANON films that Vegeta is not humiliated nor beaten, in fact he gives Broly a more difficult fight than Goku earlier on. Third, Frieza was shown with Pink skin, because that was true for the manga. The anime changed his skin to purple. Even Goku being sent as a toddler was taken from the manga (DB Minus). Him being sent as a newborn was completely anime filler. There is a lot more, but this movie was amazing! Love that you and Blind Wave dropped your reactions within days of each other!

The Dragon Ball Super anime was always hand drawn. All modern day anime are mostly still hand drawn. It's the coloring that's done digitally. The reason why DBS had animation problems isn't because of budget or not having talented artists. It was due to bad scheduling. They only had a few months before airing their first episode and that was not enough. Big on-going anime usually should have more than half a year of prep time and DBS didn't get that. Hence the extreme fluctuation in quality. While with this movie there was enough talent but more importantly enough time.

When episode 5 hit, you could really see what kind of damage that had done. And the key animator on that episode is super talented and he got trashed on the internet while it wasn't even his fault. Later on he got his revenge because he did some nicely animated ToP episodes and also scenes in the Broly movie.

One Punch Fish That’s also due to scheduling issue. Super’s production problem got better and better, but 25 episodes straight up to fighting and fighting and fighting, there was no way they could handle it properly, so they made a clever move by using reused animation. Of course it’s not the best thing ever, but the animators had more time and were able to product many beautiful stuff while some scenes were reused. You can’t deny the fact that the TOP arc was the best arc in terms of visual, even when you hate bank animation.

Fun fact, Saiyans have demon blood, like Dabura from the Buu Saga. Frieza's race are actually decsendant from a great Frost Demon that was slain and its corpse was abondoned in the mortal realm and Frieza's race was born from it. Saiyan heritage is bit more vague but from what I can gather, all Saiyans have a segment of that DNA of demon, that's what turns them into Great Apes. Broly is part of a unique Bloodline that every millenia or so the Bloodline produces a warrior whose able to tap into the full power of their demon heritage, which includes all the perks of the tail even without it, hence why Broly is so strong in base form and Saiyans are already powerful to begin with but that power of demons merged with the Saiyans ability to learn and get stronger amplifies the host tenfold and more. All Saiyans could potentially tap into the power hence how Goku, Vegeta and the others attained Super Saiyan but Broly always has had it, but because the power is so much for one mortal to handle the power of demons that can rival even destroyer level power they loose their minds like in Ape form. Hence the Legendary Super Saiyan, it's in a league beyond Super Saiyan. The Legend of the Super Saiyan was hero myth to the Saiyans but the title of Legendary Super Saiyan is one to be feared and is sometimes confused for being the same thing.

I know this was months ago, but I wanted to come and explain something: This was a VERY small detail, but the reason why Shenron only allowed one wish is because the writers/producers kept up with the anime. In a filler arc, everyone fought for the last wish out of the three wishes. Shenron got tired and decided to leave, so Shenron still had that one wish remaining.

Some of the things you have to take into consideration with power in different forms are : how easy it was for jiren to beat god goku and vegeta vs how hard Broly was going. ALSO when Kefla was made with the platora ear rings goku had to go ultra instinct to beat them so imagine how strong the fusion Gogeta is. Because of that I would think Gogeta could defeat un mastered ultra instinct for sure 100% At the end of the day Broly got the brakes beat off him by Gogeta blue and jiren got the breaks beat off him against mastered ultra instinct. Tbh it’s easier to believe the godly form of UI is stronger because it’s harder to reach.
