I love the hint of "this life is mine" in Weiss' fight scenes. She's finally becoming her own person and not just riding on "Mirror Mirror," which is now used exclusively as Winter's leitmotif. I also find this interesting because both Snow White and the Snow Queen are both stories that have mirrors as main plot devices.

There's just something so twisted about Cinder that I can really appreciate. "Stop messing with me!" means, at least to her, that she should make an incorporeal sword that cannot be blocked and just kill him. She's in a position of power, and deigns to give her opponent what they beg of her. As soon as any damage or insult is actually dealt to her, however, she flies off the handle. She probably could have killed him at the start, but there's so much ego there that the thought probably never crossed her mind.

@@Kaylakaze oh no I know there are a few times here and there where they say it's not all happening at the same time. But it's never actually explicit so people can easily get confused. The confusion comes from the fact that RWY happens at about the same time, so you assume B happens around there too. If the first time we cut to her plot we had gotten a "a few weeks before" then almost nobody would have gotten confused. It's not a big deal but it helps your story to be as absolute clear as possible.

BTW, I think y'all have forgotten that the big green guy is Hazel. (you said it was a good thing that Tyrian and Hazel weren't there). Also, the last time we saw Blake Menagerie, it was two weeks until the attack on Haven. The timelines weren't in sync throughout the volume. Also Ruby was never going to fight Cinder because Emerald was making a point to ensure Ruby couldn't get near Cinder.

Don't trust the subs, seriously, same as with the name of the relic of Knowledge, they fuck up more often than not. Really looking forward to this end of the Volume and what you guys think about it. By the way, i don't know how much have you watched in advance, but... remember to watch the character short before starting Volume 6. (Also, will you guys do the soundtrack reactions? or is that not happening? honestly curious, I would personally love it, but... yeah, just asking =P)

I've been waiting for 18:02 for YEARS!!!! I swear, for at least 2 years I've been campaigning them to react to RWBY and wanted to see them react to this so bad. And they did not disappoint. Funny personal story, for some reason I was under the impression that this was the finale. So for like a couple of weeks I was fucking wrecked but then I seen a 5x12 reaction pop up in my recommended & went flying to Rooster Teeth as fast as my internet could handle.

Fun Facts Fact 1: Some of the fight animations for Nora and Ren vs. Hazel and Yang vs. Mercury are reused from the Volume 5 Opening. Fact 2: Mercury mentioning to Yang that she owes him an apology for "breaking his leg" is a callback to "Fall". Fact 3: Ruby's flashback of Cinder killing Pyrrha is reused from "End of the Beginning". Fact 4: Weiss being impaled was teased in promo art for the Volume, where the W in RWBY was shown being broken and shattered.

In Leo's eyes like Raven, Ozpin just can't win against Salem, so he's switching sides hoping he can get out of the endless fight out of desperation and fear. It's a fruitless endeavor for them and want no part of it, so they chose to abandon Oz' cause and anyone involved in it.

This is probably my favorite fight of the show

Genuine question: Why? Emerald just standing in a single spot shooting while Ruby... stands still twirling her scythe. And she gets knocked out in one hit (does silver eyes deactivate her aura?) Weiss just sitting on her knees staring at a wall while the enemy is behind her, Jaune just screaming "nooo!" instead of actually doing something. The whole fight in fact Jaune shows absolutely none of the leadership skills he's supposed to be good for. Weiss vs Vernal is decent enough but we get a way cooler version in season 8. We don't even really see the fights between Mercury, Yang, Nora, Ren or Hazel. There's no teamwork anywhere in the fight. The opening train fight next volume massively beats out this one IMO.

Very different imo. Weiss has the power of supreme plot armor in that she's literally part of the title of the show. Aside from that, when you compare Weiss's injury (to the side of the abdomen) with Pyrrha's (literally in the middle of the chest), it's extremely difficult to start panicking about another character dying.

This chapter makes me angry every time I see it. The setup for the fight is great, but once it kicks off, Weiss... Weiss fights like a collossal fuckwit. I don't even care about her smacking into the pillar. Vernal tells her she won't let her summon, but she *keeps trying.* She knows Vernal is behind her because she put her there herself, yet tries to summon anyway and gets shot in the back for her trouble. Then she tries *again* while she's right in front of her. All she does is throw Vernal around, never restrains her like she did the knight in her trailer; that might have given her the time she needed! But no. Weiss fights like an idiot, so she'll lose her aura, so she can get skewered. Meanwhile, Ruby gets knocked out despite her own aura, we don't know how; but now she's unconscious, it's presumed to be down. And what does Cinder do? The girl she blames for her eye and arm, the girl who *just* hurt her *again,* is lying right in front of her, helpless. Even if she cared about Salem wanting Ruby alive (she doesn't), Cinder could've sliced or burned those silver eyes and ended the threat. Instead, she impales Weiss from across the hall, because Jaune used to have a crush on her. Not that she'd know, of course, but she does it anyway. Two characters breaking character within minutes. This is when the phrase, 'stupid for the sake of the plot,' became associated with the show. And why? To further the arc of a secondary character that just so happens to be voiced by a writer... but I'll have more to say on that over the next couple of chapters.

This is the worst fight in RWBY, in my opinion. This is long in order to give examples of why it's so bad, with Weiss as the primary issue. They made Weiss look like a novice who just figured out how to poke someone with a stick. The way they had her fight was a huge disservice to her character. Just look at how she fought at Beacon when she was whipping around all of those knights like they were nothing. Look at how she fought the knight in the trailer, and the Grimm in the character short, and the Paladin, and the White Fang member on the train. Against the Paladin and WF member, she used Time Dilation. Yet, suddenly, she's forgotten how to use it to speed herself up. What's the deal with her constantly trying to summon? It's like she forgot everything she'd learned about fighting before she figured out how to summon. She can use a LOT more than just an ice wall. What happened to her icicles and fire that she would send out from her glyphs, like she did against the Lancers? None of them were fighting at all like they have in the past. Yang was taught how to fight and took out an entire group of fighters by herself. She's been even better trained by her dad. Mercury thinks he's good enough, since he killed his dad, that he doesn't need any training, so he hasn't improved. At least we've never seen any training on his part. Why wasn't Yang using more H2H fighting instead of shooting her gun gauntlets all the time? It looked like she was back in the trailer when she was much better outside of the bandit camp in this same volume. Those are just a few reasons why I say this was the worst fight RT has made to represent Ruby, Yang, Weiss, and Qrow's fighting capabilities.

Hey guys, we made it! The worst episode of RWBY. Ever. Of all time. Unfortunately, the rest of Volume 5 isn't great either. But hey, at least we're only four weeks from getting another good episode. And bonus, V6E1 is the best premiere in the whole show!

@@TheGreater-ScopeVillain What about it, specifically? Because, for me, there's nothing of value in this episode. There is no real fight scene, as it cuts to Leo while the battle is ongoing (to save on budget). It's insane that Jaune of all people is able to hold a candle to Cinder. The Weiss fake-out is laughably bad as we know she will come out of it unscathed. Almost all the voice acting is painfully stiff. And the whole set-up is just terribly written. Ozpin and Qrow _knew_ they were walking into a trap. So why didn't they prepare?

I don’t know man. I’ve seen debates about, “Can blunt force attacks knock you unconscious even if you’re aura is up”. Volume 5 is a mess.

This entire fight scene is their worst ever. Weiss forgot all of the techniques, skills, and dust that she's been using until now, just to try a summoning that she hasn't had time to perform the whole time. Yang forgot all of the training her dad gave her and went back to fighting by just using her gauntlets like she did in her trailer. Ruby gets knocked out by 1 blow right at the beginning, even through her aura. Etc.

Bro, V6 is _mostly_ great. This IS the worst of the show. Volume 5 is utter ass. And while 7 and 8 weren't good, they were at least better than this trash pile.
