Mr Man 7803 using live bait shouldn’t count for any records. It takes no skill or knowledge. There is a reason tournaments don’t allow live bait
@Mr_Man_7803
@Mr_Man_7803 4 жыл бұрын
chandler williams The reason tournaments do not allow live bait is because it is not competitive. Fishing on it’s own however is not naturally competitive. Live bait is used for many other game fish species regularly for records and thats fine? You can think what you want about using live bait but the logic is hard to comprehend.
@chandlerwilliams9083
@chandlerwilliams9083 4 жыл бұрын
Mr Man 7803 any fish that is considered game fish will hit lures. I don’t think someone who got lucky and was just using live bait should get credit for a state record

C.C. boats another 12 lb'er........way to go! REALLY NICE BASS!!! I think it was January of 2017, when I blew my chance......or should I say: the FISH blew the bait. I was fishing jumbo shiners & doing well that morning ( caught a 9.5, two over 8 and several 6 to 7 ). I was also tossing a few lures in between the shiner bite. I was working a black & blue jig slow in the grass in Farm 13 when the fish hit. It felt so heavy and powerful, I was convinced it was either a giant blue cat, or even a gator. Got hung in the wood & then got it free, still thinking it was "too big & powerful to be a bass". I was cranking like hell to keep it from getting in the wood again. Depth was only about 5 feet. It finally surfaced, didn't jump, but rolled & swung that big mouth 180 degrees right at the top. I got a really good look at it's entire mouth, gill plate, & front half of its body. As she rolled, she spit the hook from about 40 feet away, and that 1/2 oz jig shot past my right shoulder like a bullet. Oh how I cried. Another angler witnessed it from about 40 yards away. He said he thought I was using my trolling motor chasing that fish. I hadn't touched my trolling motor, that fish was towing my little boat, LOL!!! I've caught four 12's and many 10's over the years........this bass had to be at least 15 anyway........if not bigger. I hate to speculate bigger, especially when ya don't have the fish in your hands.

@@TheNorthFloridaAngler You're very welcome & thank YOU for the enjoyable content. The handful of times I've had true monster bass get away, they come un-hooked. Not once has one ever broke the line. ( Of course we're using line that would just about tow a truck, lol. ) Forgot to mention that this particular monster did bend the hook somewhat. And I use only Nichol's jigs, all made in-house by hand at Nichol's, using extremely strong, high quality hooks. Keep up the great fishing & always looking forward to your next one C.C.

When river fishing, what do you look for in a spot to potentially hold fish? What makes one bend stand out from the others? Also, what type of hooks do you prefer?
@TheNorthFloridaAngler
@TheNorthFloridaAngler 4 жыл бұрын
Some of it is just experience and is hard to explain! A bend that is deeper than the rest! One that might have a small side creek! Does it have brush, logs, fallen trees! What kind of weeds does it have if any! Actually look in the water for bass if its clear enough! If not use your electronics! Especially your side imaging! I use both weedless and open J-hooks! 4/0 and 5/0 mainly. I like hooks made by Eagle Claw!

When he lost that big bass and then caught a another big one is a good lesson because he kept going and then caught a huge bass! I lost something that looked like a 8-10lb bass and now I’m going to try again!

What a epic video, and such beautiful spots to fish. But I gotta say, after watching you land the first several fish - I would rather fight a 6lb smallmouth than a 10+lb largemouth, any day. What's considered "fighting hard" down there is a cakewalk compared to the big smallies up here in the North, where it can take 5+ minutes to land a big smallie on light line. Tight lines & fins up!

First time I've seen and watched one of your videos good job top quality and I like your demeanor and your attitude I'm sure you know more than I do but my experience pre-spawn or the beginning of Spawn or middle of fall is the best time of year to catch a healthy fat huge because after this spawn they lose a lot of weight and in the early Fall by start packing on the pounds for the winter so I found mid-fall before it gets cold is a good time to catch a healthy fat fish enjoyed your show thanks and I like the looks of that third location the small tributary it could very well hold a monster some of the smaller waterways I have caught good fish the amount of pressure the fish gets I think plays a big role in catching the big one

Thanks Daniel for the kind words and I'm so glad you found my channel. Your thoughts on the best times to fish for the heaviest bass are spot on. Make sure and check out some of my other videos also! I have over a hundred of them! Again thanks for watching and good fishing to ya!
