Thank You Martin, I think it’s awesome that you go up there even in the winter. Most people would close it up in the fall and open it back up in the spring, missing some of the most beautiful times of the year!

@dexterlexter123 The inside dimensions are 13x16 feet, actually a very nice size for how I use it. The peak is about 9 feet inside. Not room for a loft but that is just as well, all the heat would be up there and too hot to sleep.

The bears have busted it up twice. I put heavy plywood over the windows when I leave and wipe things down with PineSol. Not sure why it works but it is a north country remedy to keep bears away from black plastic car bumpers and tires too. I have had no trouble since using PineSol.

Thanks, I will be experiencing Nairobi's heat for a bit this winter. The jays are usually a pair and a young one or two until they are driven out of the area during the winter. You have gas in your cabin?!? I have run a large registered trapline in Northern British Columbia for 43 years. My home or main cabin is about 225 sq. feet, but no source of power except wood stove. It is about 20 miles from any road. Additionally I have 3 “line cabins” each only about 12’ X 12’ and about 20 miles from each other...certainly quite primitive by your standard. Good job on yours.

I really like your cabin, the one I am starting to build (due to go to Scotland in a fortnight, but the weather's bad even down South here in London. ..and up in the Highlands, well, you can never be 100% sure of until the end of May) but at least I can get the ground cleared and leveled out and maybe get the gravel beds for the concrete pilasters to sit on ready. You've worked out your space well. Mine is going to be small too (I'm going to start with an initial single room with sleeping loft and a wood stove for heat and boiling water (I've learned so much about Dutch ovens and other alternative cooking methods that I am fairly confident that if I have it raised up, well insulated and have a small but decent woodstove I am sure I will survive the first period of living off grid without any great problems. The next phase 2017 God Willing, I will be putting in a solar setup. (Now I am isolated in terms of the Grid etc but my sister's house is within a half mile as the crow flies, through the woods. Which is reassuring but I want to be as self sufficient as possible so I don't want to be down at my sister's all the time!) I am going to have a look at your videos (I still can't get over all the birds eating out of your hands..mind you I can walk through a flock of pigeons in London without any flying away and that's an achievement because people kick them and are generally horrible to them.) Ok off to watch the videos. Best regards to you and your wife. (I saw you getting your peach pie at home...made me hungry you lucky person! ) x

Hey awesome video.. by any chance what are those pants you're wearing? wool? and from where? The reason I ask is this. My father and I are "traditional" hunters. Bow, and Muzzleloader. We don't wear modern camo or use baits of any kind.. and I have been looking for some good wool pants, and those that you're wearing look familiar, so I'm curious. Need something to match my leather leggings that I made. Again, great video.. love the cabin.

He has said it is 13' by 16' inside. So you can see where the beds are, that would be the 13' and along the other way 16'. For some reason I thought he would be looking out the window on the left side as you look at the cabin, it seems to be the most open in the video where he lifts it and puts rock foundation. Also, I think the fridge, outhouse & firewood are on the left; could be wrong. You think he would keep an eye on those things, not sure what is on the other side. Waiting on the new window video, maybe we will see more then.
