This was my first playstation game. we were not too well off as a family, but I remember my dad taking us to Bristol, and there was a tiny shop called Vgames, and me and my brother didn't think anymore into it, and then he just came out with it and said "right, pick some games then" ...it was a surprise and he got us a used PS1 and we were allowed to pick a few games...and I saw Resident Evil, and once I'd read the back and looked at the small pictures on the back, my mind was made up, told my brother he could pick all the next few games, like barry says "I have this!" and I was so happy. My brother then picked Wipeout, and Actua Soccer...yeah shame that, Wipeout was good at least...but i'll never forget that day, fond memory, to this day RE1 is still my fave, my first paycheck went on a gamecube purely for the RE1 remake!

At 11:25, the blood message was restored in the Resident Evil Ultimate Director’s Cut fan made mode by Wes67 and the Resident Evil: True Director’s Cut fan made mode released by Deli295. Deli295 did an incredible job to restore some cut content from Beta, Trial and the original Japanese versions. Here are the list of things that Deli295 did: • The original uncut FMVs from the Japanese version, alongside the full-color opening scene from the French and German Director’s Cut release. • The Mansion’s Bathroom from the 01/31/1996 Beta version, which allows you to grab an extra clip after unplugging the Water in Jill’s scenario. • The Mansion’s 2nd Floor Right Stairs wall message in blood, from the Japanese Trial Edition of the game. • The Mansion’s 2nd Floor Main Hall unknown music track, in the scene when Jill meets Barry again (”it’s reeaally powerful”), sourced from the 01/31/1996 Beta version (only on Easy and Original modes). Both the Resident Evil Ultimate Director’s Cut and Resident Evil: True Director’s cut are on the CDRomance web site and you can download them.

I honestly love the 1st Resident Evil, at least it's remake. It's one of the few Resident Evil games I can't argue much with that I find myself coming back to every so often along with Resident Evil 4, I'm glad to see our guy cover more of the Resident Evil series since I seen him cover Resident Evil 4 with it's wild and lengthy development since it's such a wild one, also finding out the Parasite Undead you fight in RE4 are based on an idea on the previous build before the final which was the traditional Zombies was a wild revelation. Honestly seeing more of this series and I guess Capcom titles in general being covered more in the future is always a win in my book, keep it up dude.

Interesting enough about those two cut character Gelzer and Dewey. In the Hong Kong Manwha serialization of Resident Evil 2 during the late 90's (Don't know if they was licensed, but they did mention Capcom alot, so probably bought the license to make their own loose based comic) the comic used these two cut characters that appeared in the comic.

Excellent video as always sir you are recapturing my childhood with every release and making my work days more tolerable with these constant projects haha. What is your current opinion of the direction the franchise is heading now? I do think the FPV perspective is a welcome change and thought they really hit something special with RE7 but RE8 just didn’t live up to the hype in my opinion. I’m really hoping they return to classic characters like Claire and maybe try to have them explore some of Umbrella’s dark past like whatever happened to Steve Burnside from Code Veronica or perhaps explore Hunk’s origin. Either way excellent as always and really looking forward to your next videos!
@TheObsessiveGamer7 ай бұрын
Well the direction of going in a freeform aiming route makes sense simply for the sake of audiences nowadays have no tolerance for the classic tank control style. However balance must be kept in still keeping you in your toes with limited inventory and other aspects, which I'm glad 7 and after have struck that balance that 5-6 messed up I do personally hope the series goes back to being third person again.

xD so FINALLY i know where the DUM DUM ROUNDS come from. In the German "Directors cut" version they kinda fucked up the translation a bit. Instead of using the "Dietrich" / Lockpick as in the original Jill now uses a "Dum Dum Geschoss" / Dum Dum Rounds to open locks when she doesn't have the key. When we first played his version we looked everyhwere for this ammunition and the gun. (i was 15 when i first played this game, RE 2 was already out) also the colour intro was included in the PAL / German version of directors cut

@TheObsessiveGamer3 ай бұрын
Probably the need to use up more polygons to model the clothes are why. Remember PS1 was SUPER limited in polygon count. As for the Director's Cut, it likely was them better learning and understanding the hardware to better space out the amount of polys needed per zombie. They did that with RE2
