Theocracy is Progressive Power Metal, not really gonna be death Vocals. Also, this isn't about death trying to hold him down. It's about the despair the disciples felt with the death of their master, they felt it was over, that the revolution was stopped before it began. Also, Theocracy always has choir parts, it's their sound. Matt Smith is hugely influenced by Gospel, and Church choir music, and Basically tries to write the Metal Version of that. I for one think it's glorious. And if there is a sound that is "Christian Metal" it would be something like this that pulls so heavily from Gospel and Church Music

Wow, I'm really late to comment on this... but there are so many 'growling', 'death', metal bands out there, to me Theocracy is a breath of fresh air with clean, soaring, power metal vocals. If you don't like the genre, you won't like Theocracy, but for those of us that appreciate both clean and unclean vocals, Theocracy is top notch.

Sori, I respect your opinion. I disagree with it, but I respect it. Theocracy's instrumental ability is not rivaled by many in the Christian Metal community. I get what you are saying about what you want. But I do not feel like growling vocals work in Christian Metal. That's why I don't care for Demon Hunter. To me, songs about Christ/God should be up lifting and inspiring and hearing someone growl like a demon possessed dog doesn't do that for me.

1. You apparently have never listened to Extol et al derivatives of .. 2. How do you know what a demon sounds like? Been in the presence of one? scholar.csl.edu/osp/1/ 3. Can you imagine how a white elohim might communicate with a black elohim? "Angels" when appearing to humans, generally take on a human form .. However, in the presence of other elohim (especially that; fallen ones) .. Just might take on a more lower timbre given their actual stature .. See Book 1 Enoch ..

Try Grave Declaration - When dying souls scream praise. This is black metal vocals, but it is probably one of the most praise albums out there that is metal. Straight praise, but very powerful. Similar to Dimmu Borgir, but with their own sound. Follow along with the lyrics.

@Sori The band didn't have the focus you may have preferred, which sounds like some kind of emotionally building song. What they did, though, was more Scripturally focused, namely the Resurrection as fulfillment of prophesy. This was far more moving as a Christian than as a general person.

Sori, you should write that song you were imagining - I think I'd like to listen to it. Theocracy is a power metal band with occasional progressive elements, always has been since they started in the early 2000's, so not sure why you thought they were heavier. Seems you both came into this with wrong expectations that tempered your enjoyment of this song. Now thats been cleared up listen to other songs from them - I'd recommend "Theocracy"

Honestly after the first 20 seconds of this song I was ready to hit the trap door on it but it came through. This band sounds like Dream Theater’s little brother, talk about wearing your influences on your sleeve. I personally would love to see Vin and Sori reacting to more “Christian” metal. Demon Hunter is a staple and I know it’s been done on this channel before to me the one’s they’ve done have been on the softer side. Please tryout Someone to Hate, Follow the Wolves, Storm the Gates of Hell.

Nothing to do with the music, it just has to be rough metal death.. Otherwise it's rubbish lol
