This song is the Christian Gospel in a nutshell. The stranger in the story is Christ, who by dying on the cross, took the sin of those who believe in him on himself. Thus, the eyes of God see only his purity rather than our sin. It's a beautifully written song.

Matt Smith (the Lead Singer who writes all the songs for the band) was once asked "what song would you consider to be your masterpeice?" His respose was that most would consider I Am to be it, but that he actually considers this song to be his ultimate masterpiece.

Saw them play it live in a tiny bar a few years ago. There was a brief power outage just as the character in the song was about to run away from the mirror. Matt said "Well that was anti-climatic" lol I remember it so well. We were right in front of them. Shawn's bass drum was like kicking me in the face the whole time XD

Theocracy is an amazing band. Laying the Demon to Rest, On Eagles wings, HIde in the Fairtale, Paper Tiger, Ghost Ship... Matt Smith the singer, also wrote the songs but on this album he played a lot of the guitars as well. The first album all instruments were originally recorded by Matt Smith, Theocracy started as a one man project. But the album was re-released and Shawn Benson (drummer) went back in and re-recorded the drums.

I appreciated the genuine way you reacted to this song. The track always brings tears to my eyes but watching you respond in real time reduced me to a tub of goo. One of the things I like most is you just appreciated the story for what it is. Some people, especially metal fans, get their nose out of joint when they realize a song has a christian message. You didn't do that and just let the story be what it is. You appreciated the musicianship and the way it accompanies the lyrics. Really want to thank you for this reaction. I will look for your stuff in the future.

I only discovered Theocracy a couple months ago and really enjoyed seeing your heartfelt reaction to this song. If it's any consolation, I bought this album yesterday on Bandcamp and your reaction was the first time I've heard the song at all.... So it'll sit with me stronger than if I'd heard it alone. I strongly recommend their newish album Ghost Ship as I've been digging it intensely for the past few weeks both musically and lyrically. Matt is truly a master at his craft. Another excellent song is from his side project supergroup Project Aegis titled 'And the rest is Mystery'... Just listen to it in your downtime or review it. So beautiful, and it also takes the hearer on a journey. The proceeds from purchase of all the projects tunes help youth from troubled backgrounds which makes it all the more sweet IMHO.

Smith is a true poet .. On top of being a master musician .. He is also a professional recording engineer .. Who has conversed directly with Michael Romeo (Symphony X) on use of the same .. Orchestration software .. Check out his collaborations .. Project Aegis and Soulspell .. He has also performed with Neal Morse ..

i loved watching your facial expressions. This is a great reaction vid bc it is genuine. Hope you react to other Theocracy songs. I have all the records and had my own reaction to discovering them but I is always fun watching someone experience as much for the first time. My two favorite Theocracy songs are I Am and Resolution Day.

I am not a religious man, but I love this band for few years They have one more epic song "I am" its not as long as this one, but very good as well. Another KILLER song from them is Laying The Demon To Rest (its brutal wicked fast pace crazy amazing thing)

Theocracy is an awesome band. I'm one of those "secular metalheads" that enjoy them. Matt Smith is not only a great vocalist, but also a great musician and composer. Imo they're a progressive power metal band. But yea, I agree that you should check out "Laying the Demon to Rest". It's heavy as fuck and a great track. But most of all I think you should check out "The Gift of Music", their best song imo. It's full of awesomeness.

A few other songs you should check out in the future would be I Am As The World Lies Bleeding - this is a song that describes our current state of our world very well. Gift of Music All three if these songs are off the same album As The World Bleeds.

Even though Theocracy is a Christian band (not that this is a bad thing, but it might turn off some people), apparently many secular metalheads like them as well because their songs are great. I've heard this song a lot, as it's one of my favorites of theirs! If you up for checking out another of Theocracy's songs, try out Laying the Demon to Rest, as it's one of their heavier offerings from the same album. EDIT: Wow! The song "I am" of Theocracy is just as good in my opinion. It is basically a description of what god is.

Its a reference to exodus when God told Moses to tell the Hebrews "tell them I Am the I Am." Meaning there is no words to describe God for he is everything.

Hmm. I really, really want to like this song... There's a very nice voice, *all* the instruments sound beautiful.. good high notes, like the little "breaks" with the slower instrumental parts, beautiful solos. But in the end, it's simply too long for me. I can't concentrate on anything for this long unless it's a drawing I'm working on. The lyrics/text/whatever - which are so very important just kinda flows together for me when it's this (I'm so sorry!) long-winded. I tried sitting still and watching the video (since the lyrics were on screen as well), but I just couldn't do it. I most likely would have absolutely loved this, if they'd made it into 3 separate parts. - Kind of like what Snow Patrol did with "The Lightning Strike, part 1, 2 and 3". It's still one number, but the three parts are different enough that I don't lose concentration Or what Deep Purple did with "April". Maybe it's just me

This is my first time on your channel and I'm wondering if you're a metal head who is checking out some Christian rock/ metal? I'm a Christian and I have a horrible time trying to find any Christian Metal. Pantera is still my favorite band, but I also really love old school Queensryche and Fates Warning. This is the only Christian progressive metal band that I like.

ok... you liked this one. So now I am going to recommend for you another epic masterpiece Celesty - Legacy Of Hate (part 1, 2 and 3) its only 35 min long :D But I would recommend Part 3 first ... I think that one is the best. Then you can check first 2 as well

This band is my counter to "Christian metal sucks". Christian or not, if you actually believe the message this song is getting across, you cannot deny that the music is expertly written and performed, the mixing is insanely good, and the lyrics (anybody's personal beliefs aside) are a masterclass in writing good poetry.
