I thought I would try to answer your question about many people not wanting mutants to be labeled as dangerous in advance because of their abilities, first let me address what mutants reflect in society and it is they who are different in society than what others think it is normal, before people of color were treated differently because of their skin color and were feared and hated by whites because they looked different, then you have homosexuals who were feared by society and some believed that homosexuals were contagious and many in religion considered them to be of the devil offspring to destroy society, another group is persons who are mentally ill and these were locked up because it was the best to keep them away from the general public and they were forcibly sterilized mentally ill even before. All of these that I wrote as examples were previously seen as a threat to society before but as today there are many who do not see them as such just because they are different than what is considered to be the norm in society, so mutants have abilities that make them different , abilities that make many distrust them and make some people think that using violence whether it be physical or psychological is their "right" because they are not like everyone else, so for me it is that everyone should have the same right in society but if you are forced to be registered, you put a target on their backs like the Nazis did in Germany against Jews and that is someone I personally would not want to see.

The Rogue Cut was an extended edition in that it added back scenes that were shot but not included in the theatrical release. In the theatrical release, all the scenes that had Rogue other then Rogue and Bobby in the altered future did not exist. In the theatrical cut, Kitty Pryde was still injured by Wolverine, but managed to hold out until the timeline changed. The X-Men never went on the mission to the X-Mansion to rescue Rogue (she wasn't even mentioned at all). It was weird in that the production made a big deal of Anna Paquin returning to the role when the movie was in production, but when it came out in theaters she had a three second cameo at the very end.

Rogue works in the comics. She is a top class Mutant, the reason she is cut from these films more often than not is because her power is simply too strong to just be around all the time, you'd have to be explaining "why dont we just have rogue steal "X" power and do "Y"
@EarnestEgregore9 ай бұрын

Storm…I was so disappointed at her demise. She is my absolute favourite, the first female heroine/superhero I became obsessed with as a child in the 90’s. My brother would buy me comics every month, which is why I was always so gutted that in this film franchise they passed Storm an “Omega level mutant” off as this beta level deputy principal. Though the Tornado scene in X2 is still my favourite scene of hers from the films. On a side note, the actor Adan Canto, who played Sunspot (Guy engulfed/absorbed in Solar flames) in this film, passed away January this year. I would have loved to had seen more of his character. He and Halle Berry also did another film together called Bruised, it’s definitely worth a watch.

The biggest difference between theatrical and the Rogue Cut is that Rogue is not a major character in the theatrical version. She only appears as a cameo at the end with the restored future timeline. So, in the theatrical version, there is no option to replace Kitty Pride and no side quest to rescue Rogue. On the one hand, the stakes are a little higher in the theatrical version, but on the other hand, if you like the movie version of Rogue, then the theatrical version cuts her out almost completely.

In case you were wondering, Peter/Quicksilver in this movie is the same character as Wanda's brother Pietro in Avengers: Age Of Ultron. They're just different versions of the same character. In the comics, both Wanda and Pietro Maximoff are mutants who have also been Avengers. Twentieth Century Fox owned the movie rights to the mutants that fall under the X-Men umbrella of characters, including Wanda and Pietro. But the MCU were able to use Wanda and Pietro in their Avengers movies, just as long as they weren't called mutants and never referred to by their mutant names Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

This film pretty much creates a whole new timeline post 1973 with X-Men: First Class acting as the first film in both timelines and then branching off with the changes made in this film. Stopping the assassination of Trask, Mutants being revealed to the public during the Paris Peace Accords, And Wolverine being captured by the U.S Government etc. So certain characters meet in differant ways, new stories are told, and the world has a slightly more positive view on some mutants, At least the X-Men. I imagine sentinel's would still be around down the line but not to the level we saw them in the future scenes. An evolution of the classic 1960s sentinels that have the firepower to take down Mutants but can't mimic their powers. This new timeline also retcons films like X-Men: Origins so that explains why the Deadpool films have a whole new origin story for Deadpool closer to the comics, Pretty much a soft reboot for X-Men keeping some elements of the past films but making changes. X1 and X2 would've happened in a similar way but X3 never happens in this timeline. The Wolverine could've happened as well with Logan having adventures in Japan but they'll be some differences as well. Then a few years pass and Wolverine wakes up in his bed in 2022/2023 within this new timeline like we see in this film. So yeah new timeline going forward so you'll see some stuff that may not line up to past films.

To answer your question about how strong a mutant Rogue is...in the main comic storyline, early on (when she was hanging around with Mystique and less good mutants) there was an occasion when she attacked Carol Danvers (as in Captain Marvel). She absorbed Carol's powers but due to certain complications during the incident....it went wrong and became a permanent absorption. Carol was without powers for a long while. They did eventually return but Rogue also retained the abilities. So for pretty much all of her history in x-men comics Rogue has had the powers of Carol Danvers (and you already know how powerful she is from the MCU).

Magneto should never be compared to Malcom X magneto was literally a boring villain trying to rule the world maybe if you actually read comics you would know Claremont literally changed the background on Magneto so no Stan Lee did not create them for civil rights.

This is for sure my favorite X-Men movie. Though I love X-Men and X-2 as well

I remember watching this in theaters right during Peak MCU years and thought, if only this was part of it

After end credits, Apocalypse, my favorite X-Men villain, at least in the comics and cartoon. This movie changed the time line so the first three movies didn't happen like they were depicted. Rogue is an Alpha level mutant. Omega's are the top tier which is Magneto, Charles and Jean Grey. Rogue cut is an extended version, adds in Rogue's scene if I'm not mistaken and a few other scenes.

31:35 Roug is a class 3 mutant (Gamma), mutants of this category have a defective gene that makes them sometimes powerful, but many times they are unable to control their power, she cannot control who absorbs the power because it happens with contact. In addition to this, in the original version, unlike the movies, she cannot control the power she absorbs, which is often dangerous for her own team...

I wish you hadnt watched the Rogue cut. It takes away from the high stakes of the whole mission. When Kitty was hurt, there was an urgency to complete the mission. When Rogue takes over, that urgency is gone. Thats the whole reason they decided to cut the Rogue part from the original release.

But it was better 🤧

Yeah. The rogue cut feels kinda loosely pieced together. I saw the original release in theaters and heard about the rogue cut years later. I like the rogue cut for the extra scenes, but I agree, the theatrical release has a way better flow, pace and editing.

Are we all forgetting that Rogue took the cure in The Last Stand? I know this is not the main cut and fox didn't care about the continuity
@asiaroberson34429 ай бұрын
Well now that it changes anything, I don't think rogue took anything. What happened in X-Men 3 never happened

But if you remember, Erik was also shot by the cure. 4 times in fact and we saw by the end that his powers were coming back in that same movie, so it doesn’t really matter. I think the point was that if you’re that powerful it will slowly end up coming back

In the comics and the Xmen cartoons from my childhood Rogue is super badass because at one point she permanently steals Captain Marvel's powers so she can fly and has super strength on top of being able to steal others power.

This movie is adapted from the comics, Uncanny Xmen 141 & Uncanny Xmen 142. In the original story its Kitty Pryde who goes back in time to warn the others, Logan stays behind to defend against the sentinels. In the conext of the movie, it was the right choice to change the messenger to Logan. It's an amazing movie, happy you two loved it!
