This movie came out a year before Age of Ultron, so it was our first introduction to Quicksilver on the big screen. It was actually a little disappointing when he appeared in the MCU, a little less interesting and killed off super early, the X-Men version is usually considered the better portrayal and it's why it was so HUGE when the actor came to play him in the MCU. But fun fact, both Quicksilvers had acted on-screen together before in the superhero film series Kick-Ass. AoU Quicksilver, Aaron Taylor Johnson, played Kick-Ass while X-Men Quicksilver, Evan Peters, played one of his best friends turned hero Ass-Kicker. The sentinels are probably the most famous X-Men "antagonist", they're usually giants about as tall as a building and are almost impossible to defeat. The island of Genosha, which was a nation that was a haven for mutants, was beset upon by sentinels and it caused the deaths of 16.5 million mutants. It was the first and biggest mutant genocide, that 16.5 was out of only 17.5. The mutants battling to stop future dystopias is kind of common in Marvel. The future is always extremely _bleak._ In this storyline Kitty was the one who travelled to the past.

"Whose orders do you follow?" You follow the orders given to you in your chain of command. Orders are supposed to move vertically up and down the chain of command, not across it. For example, if you were given an order by your division officer (a lieutenant) and the department head of a different department who was a commander (talking about the Navy) gave you an order as well, you could do both. If they countered each other, you would follow your division officer's order, and preferably explain this to the commander and ask him to speak with the division officer. That's how it's supposed to work.

@angelohernandez60606 ай бұрын
While this film is great, it's not perfect. One big flaw is that sending people back in time is not in her power base. She phases through solid matter. Nothing to do with time manipulation. All of a sudden she has a new power. HUH?! In the original comic Kitty has just joined the X-MEN like I believe a few weeks before these events. In the future they send Kitty to the past not Woverine and what convinces them that it is Kitty from the future (because it was her mind not her body that was sent to her younger self) was her reaction to Nightcrawler. Present day Kitty was always uncomfortable around Kurt(Nightcrawler) because of his Demonic appearance. She's a sweet Jewish girl after all. When older Kitty saw him she hugged him and was so glad to see him because he had died in the battle in the future. And still doesn't explain her new power. The alternate "Rogue cut" of this film has a better scenario for the time travel. In that version Rogue absorbs someone's ability for time manipulation and combines it with telepathy to send Logans mind to his past self. Much better than Kitty pulling a new power out of her tail.

To be fair, there is *some* continuity in the X-Men world. Problem is, they don't do a great job maintaining it from movie to movie. The X-Men series kicked off well before the MCU made super-strict adherence to continuity across an entire shared cinematic universe a major selling point for movie franchises. So filmmakers would come and go within the franchise and were primarily concerned with telling the stories they wanted to tell, and there wasn't someone overseeing it all and keeping track of the little details from movie to movie to make sure they all added up. The X-Men movies also had to do some course correction when things weren't going well for the series.

Magneto's power is not magnetic. He controls metals through some handwavium method. If he truly just affected magnetic fields, then he would only be able to control iron, steel, steel alloys, and other ferrous alloys. He would not be able to affect bullets (lead, antimony, & sometimes copper), aluminum, brass, bronze, tin, uranium, bismuth, sintered ceramics, etc. nor semi-metallic elements like silicon.

Yep. Something I've been saying for years. He controls metal, regardless of whether it's magnetic or not. I can only assume that way back in the day, Stan Lee or Chris Claremont or whoever, didn't really know that much about magnetism, and didn't realize that not all metals are affected by magnetic fields.
@michaelpytel32806 ай бұрын
You're thinking only of Ferromagnetism not Diamagnetism and Paramagnetism. Non ferrous metals and non metals can be temporarily magnetic under strong magnetic fields. Electricity and magnetism are connected, anything with an electric current can have a magnetic field and vice versa. Each electron on an atom acts like a magnet. Even Hydrogen atoms in water can act like magnets in MRI machines and Tokamak Fusion reactors.
@callmeshaggy51666 ай бұрын
@@michaelpytel3280 I'm also (almost) certain atom colliders use magnetism to guide atomic particles through their circular structure at near-light speeds. On the other end, ferrous metals can also be made unreactive to magnetism, typically by heating.

Its almost as if James Cameron made it himself. 🤔 Days of Future Past is a timeless masterpiece. The Quicksilver scenes alone put this movie on another level. Everyone went into this movie expecting to hate him and his look. But thanks to expert craftsmanship, Quicksilver INSTANTLY won over almost everyone. Then Evan Peters totally earns all the love with his delivery of lines like "WhipLAAASH." The timeless complexity of the Paris Peace Conference scene is another great example of why Days of Future Past is the best. There is so much going on in one scene, it could be super easy for the audience to get lost. But the craftsmanship of the scene holds everything together, despite all of the tension and emotions.

In the early 80s comics it was Kitty and Wolverine who had the very close relationship. Rogue had just walked in the school door when I stopped reading them so I don't know how their relations progressed (she had been a baddie)

Excellent reaction!! This is the one i was waiting for, a fantastic movie! You're so funny! I gotta ask, if you don't mind, (and Im fully aware im getting to see this for free so I dont have much of a voice when it comes to this) but did you do the editing for this one? I always comment about how much i love your editing, but this one It's so much more different than your previous videos. Your editing has, to use nerd parlance, very unique signature to it that makes it like, personal to you. You're also always so mindful of the emotion of the scene so that the particular editing technique matches it. This video's editing is just so different than the previous ones. Are you testing out new techniques?

Thank you for saying my editing has a unique signature! That's such a compliment! I have worked with editors before, but it's always as a collaboration so I'm very involved. This time, I worked with someone new and was very hands off. I really appreciate the feedback! ❤

5:40 That would be the House of X comics specifically IIRC...or you could go to Marvel vs. Capcom and/or the original X-Men run that introduced Onslaught, an amalgamation of Xavier and Magneto...MvC from 1998 famously featured a stage referencing a signature cover from the Days of Future Past comic timeline with most of the portraits of the heros crossed out as either missing or dead...

The whole “code word” discussion has me pausing the video in disbelief, for I have never considered nor heard of anyone combining the words “Charming” and “Insane” together in a sentence. Until now. You are Charmingly Insane.

Regarding Wolvie drowning. In the comics at least it's said that when Logan drowns he literally asphyxiates, dies, heals, regains consciousness, asphyxiates, dies, heals etc., in a continuous cycle. He would eventually die from his cells running out of energy though.

Quicksilver is far and away the greatest character in these newer X-Men movies imo. His scenes are 💋Chef's Kiss.

@@reactswithjax FYI, Logan is an alternate universe from any of the other X-Men movies, so don't get confused on why things do not align with the events of this movie in that film.

Pietro & Wanda are his twin children, and he does have a younger daughter Polaris with green hair with his powers in the comics and various animated series, there was also a live action series The Gifted in 2017 set some time after The Last Stand movie with Polaris rescuing mutants with the help of Thunderbird and Blink that we see I the future.

Mystique first appearing to Xavier as a child shows how much she can't really be trusted because she is much older then that. Mystique does not have healing abilities like Logan but her powers do allow her to keep her cells young prolonging her life, she is as old as Logan maybe even older. There are comics about Logan and Mystique knowing each other back in the west and have even been lovers at times before having his memories wiped, but Mystique constantly double crossing him gives Logan a natural distrust of her even if he doesn't remember her.

One thing they don't explain in the movies about Quicksilver is that his powers don't have an on/off switch. He perception of reality being slow is constant, in the comics it gives him a very irritable attitude.

At least you finally know why the Fox version of Quiksilver showing up many years later in WandaVision was such a big deal after the Fox acquisition. If you like this cast merging just wait until you start watching the Star Trek movies. You dont even need to watch the shows like most reactors do the movies are enough on their own. I'm also hoping you watch Hawkeye soon if you haven't already but that one may never leave Patreon if you do.

42:35 Even knowing that there are so many plot holes in the franchise, you CAN still piece it together as such: 3600 BC - X-Men: Days of Future Past (Post credit scene) 1845 - 1944 - X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Until World War II footage in opening credits montage) 1944 - X-Men First Class (Erik in prison camp, Charles meets Raven) 1945 (Plot hole) - The Wolverine (Intro - saves Ichirō Yashida at Nagasaki) 1962 - X-Men: First Class (Main body of the film) 1971ish-1981 - X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Rest of the film) 1986 - (Plot hole) - X3: The Last Stand (Charles and Erik visit young Jean Grey) 1996 - X3: The Last Stand (Young Angel is caught by father trying to cut his wings) 2000 - X-Men 2003 - X2: United 2006 - X3: The Last Stand (Rest of film) 2013 - The Wolverine (Rest of the film) 2014 - The Wolverine (Post credit scene) 2023 - X-Men: Days of Future Past (All the future stuff) I did not include "X-Men: Days of Future Past" for 1973, because THAT 1973 is a result of 2023's Logan's interaction. I also did not include anything AFTER 2023 since you haven'y watched any further than THIS movie so far.

2014, big superhero movie year. But after introducing Guardians of The Galaxy and awaiting the return of the Avengers in the MCU, Marvel/Fox's Children of The Atom were just getting warmed up. Based on a classic storyline from 1981 that pre-dates The Terminator (believe it or not). The end-credits of The Wolverine (2013) showing the name "Trask" drove people (us fans) nuts because most of us knew who he was, what he would make and where the fate of the universe was going. Bryan Singer (pre-controversy, y'all know why) to direct this 5th movie of the series aka "X4" was unprecedented. Blending the castmembers of old and new became such a blast. Introducing newer characters in both eras to greatly effect history was perfect. As always, the constant tones of the film series endure. Good and evil, prejudice and tolerance, grief and faith, similarity and difference. The hallmarks of the comics, 50 years old at the time, being interpreted as they suppose to be. There is an alternate version known as The Rogue cut (2015) which is the complete version of the film that clearly makes it the biggest X-Men film ever. It broke several Box office records and became the highest-grossing X-Men film for 2 years, dethroning X3:The Last Stand. From here, the evolution goes into overdrive. You are going to love the next 3 films.
