Same here, buddy. I'm now 36, and have such a strong, deeply emotional attachment to the game, and Arthur's journey. My Dad and I bonded over the music of the game. So much so, I requested a UK radio station to play the 'House Building Song' when he underwent a cancer op and subsequent treatment a couple of years back. My Grandad passed away just after Christmas, and again, the music of this game makes me think of him, his foibles and his fight against dementia. I'll forever cherish this wonderful game.

I'm 41, married, have a 6yo son and just played this game for the first time, finished that scene a few hours ago. I balled like a child. All I want is for my kid to have a future in this spiraling world. Morgan did that for Jack. Arthur worked hard and was used and betrayed by the only father figure he had. Yet he still selflessly sacrificed himself for his people. I don't know why this has me feeling so bad.... it's "just a game" right?

Just like if who wrote the plot for this game actually listened to an inner voice, just like if who wrote stories is somewhere in touch with his characters. They are but unfortunately the majority dont finish a game. Its later now but I remember reading an article on the topic of finishing a story game and they used this game as an example considering the length of it. It was around april when it was made so basically 6 months after red dead 2 came out and it was revealed that only 30% of red dead 2 owners had actually completed the story. I personally will always prefer story games, but it does make me sad to see that. Also because from my group of friends I was the only one at the time that finished the story while everyone else was just messing around in the map.

People say the dishonorable ending makes more sense but it really doesn't. I got proof of this because the TB can kill you but can be cured if you take your life nice and easy but Arthur said he couldn't, he saved John and was attacked by Micah, even with his TB weakening his body over the course of Chapter 5-6, he fought Micah pretty good even with his body being severely weakened by the disease. The fight between the two made the TB stronger and progressed way faster and it killed Arthur. Micah was the cause of why the TB killed him way faster than sooner. So that can be John's redemption for Arthur.

Me to my horse in rdr2's ending: "Damn it, you were one of the worst horses I've ever had, and you ran away when you weren't supposed to, and loved to ram into trees, but gosh darn you are a good boah!" RIP Timmy, my longest living horse(also the horse I'm talking about, I got him at the beginning of the game, but then stabled him for Chester) RIP Chester, the 2rd horse I got, he also died before Timmy, he got killed during a gun fight with the lemoyne raiders I have Tamitha now, she's Timmy's mate, she is with John, I had her as Arthur but lost her, than found another female horse that looked like her, so I tamed her and pretended it was Timetha to keep my cannon timeline continuing

I swear I felt so many emotions just suddenly come bubbling up after watching his good honor ending on the mountain. It's like, I've experienced his journey with my own eyes (like I was right there with him) from a rough start to a tragic finish; watched him go from a ruthless outlaw/Dutch's enforcer who blindly followed orders because he'd do anything for his gang, to a man trying to make peace with the world after: "For the first time in my life, I'm faced with an enemy I can't see, or put a bullet into." / "I guess I...I'm afraid." (that line right there broke me; hearing someone like Arthur Morgan admit that). When he died, that build-up with him hearing everyone thank him and calling him a good man, it made me happy and sad at the same time, because he still viewed himself as "bad" despite everything he did for Redemption. But having *our* horse die (I loved that horse like a daughter), combined with him telling Dutch: "I gave you everything I had"? Like damn, man. I've NEVER cared for a video game protagonist like I cared for Arthur. For some people, the game that "broke" them was The Last of Us, or The Witcher 3. For me it was RDR2. And the funny part is that I disliked cowboys before this game; thought they were all pretty boring. Even now, the cowboys in this game are the only ones I've ever liked. Don't know how this didn't win GOTY.

Fun fact: just finished this game today after playing for 3 years with Arthur. I didn't finished it for 3 years because I know Arthur going to die in the game so I spent my 3 years playing with him, going around the map, rob a train, playing poker, doing side mission, greetings every npc I found, etc. It makes me cry when this scene coming because all those years I've been playing as him is going to end.

This was the last game I ever played with my dad. It came out right before his dementia robbed him of his last good moments. I remember him being absolutely stunned into silence by how beautiful it was. Once his disease became to much I didnt return to the game until his passing recently. My father was an addict for much of his life but got sober for his family and was a truly great man. Always carried his younger years with him. Suffice to say. Arthurs story truly kills me. Watching a man redeem himself. Watching a good man fade from a horrifying disease. Thank you Rockstar.
