I like Dr. Daniels because of his insight in working in Corrections. I also worked in Corrections in California for 25 years. I never met an inmate who thought of himself as a victim. On the contrary, the idea that their incarceration was someone else’s fault would have been undignified. I heard it once, I heard a variant of the following hundreds of times: “My brother is an attorney and my sisters work for IBM. I put myself in this place. Growing up I was a screw up and wouldn’t listen to my parents.” IMHO, many people who work in various areas of “social work” know this to be true; but if the truth ever came out, in the words of the late great comic George Carlin, “the whole system would collapse.” Have a nice day. @@Olivia-lu3gg

Poor parenting or virtually no parenting at all. I personally deny any "White Privilege" but I will admit to having "Intact and loving family, consisting of a mum and a dad" privilege. It's extraordinary that so much focus is on White Privilege which, if it even exists, is pretty much homeopathic in it's weakness of dilution, whereas the advantages of growing up in a more-or-less functioning family with a mum and dad are clearly measurable. Yes, of course, single parents can do a great job bla bla bla etc etc.... but it simply isn't ideal and should be recognised as not being ideal.

@debraengland3827 Жыл бұрын
Dalrymple says "I don't think this kind of historical blame is useful." Although I think he is one of the most important modern intellectuals alive today, I think he has this completely wrong. Understanding First Causes, Root Causes & historical antecedents to contemporary problems is NOT merely an exercise in "historical blame". As the Santayana quote posted in front of Auschwitz attests: Those who forget the past are bound to repeat it. The warning is not only to remember, but also to UNDERSTAND. When Dalrymple misguidedly deflects this line of questioning by calling it "historical blame", he stops what is actually a crucially important attempt to understand the complex origins of how & why we have descended into the contemporary problems we face.
@Englishman999 Жыл бұрын
It's entirely proper to understand history, there is much to be learned by doing so. It's also entirely proper and possible to understand it whilst avoiding seeking blame by looking through present day views. We have to see history as a thing of it's time. The UK is in large part where it is today entirely because it looks to find a 'whipping boy' for everything it dislikes in life, rather than see the truth behind it's maladies and to then take responsibility for them.

We have ghetto's here, the fact that each different culture sticks together, in the work place. Some of the recruitment agencies are now international, which means they represent their people - east europeans. But I would be quite frank the agencies suck here, because the "women" are not capable of being professional, probably because they have a old bloke running the agency who does not give a toss, so there is no service to the person who is looking for work. Much like how the country is run. No service to the British people.

Yes all they want is to give medication...it's easy for them....maybe they make money from that.....but they don't care about about your problems

Or care about them...my psychologist looked at his watch and kept yawning from Kaiser

England is twice as densely populated as France so infrastructure projects adversely affect far fewer people.
