For those that don’t know American geography, Teddy did not go to the nearest hospital. He chose to travel a whole state away for about 100miles (160 kilometers) after he gave his speech. He recovered but never had the bullet removed.

Fun fact:In real life Teddy was actually at the podium when he was shot,but it went through his breast pocket,which had a steel glasses case and his 50 page speech in it,this slowed the bullet down enough so that it only created an entrance wound. After he was shot he collected himself,and said to the men currently fucking beating the ever living shit out of his attempted murder,”Easy on boys,don’t beat him too badly”,he then gave his 50 page speech ensured that his assassin was still alive and then left,and boarded a train to Chicago to see his favorite doctor

Getting no response, he said, "Oh, what's the use? Turn him over to the police." As police held Schrank, Roosevelt looked down at him and said, "You poor creature." The crowd almost beat John Schrank too death. But Teddy stepped in and asked to see him and ask him why he did it. Roosevelt said to Schrank, "What did you do it for?" Getting no response, he said, "Oh, what's the use? Turn him over to the police." As police held Schrank, Roosevelt looked down at him, and said, "You poor creature." Roosevelt ordered, "Officers, take charge of him, and see that there is no violence done to him."

Man was the David goggins of presidents and civil servants. He was born with a high chance of dying from severe asthma. He went after big companies greed and monopoly’s. Fought the current boxing champ secretly for fun/challenge and lost some vision fighting him. Got shot by a .32 caliber bullet and saved by his speech notes and his glasses case. Went on to go exploring the Amazon jungle/rivers after his presidency. He went on with 22 man party and 3 of those men died of pure exhaustion. He had a severe fever and lost a quarter of his body weight. What happened to these kind of men leading the country. Fearless of big corporations and very wealthy and influential men. A man for the people and not for special interest groups and 3rd party funding groups. There should be a teddy Roosevelt day to remind people of what a true man and true leader for the people.

Thanks for your long and thoughtful contribution to U.S. history and my channel. Teddy Roosevelt was a great president and person. He had a tough life, with his wife Alice and his mother dying on the same day and his father dying a few years before that. This shaped him to become the bull moose and lead the United States to reform (probably the first president to do so). His son Quentin died in World War I to become a soldier like his dad, which is tragic but also honorable. Truly a great person!

Teddy was a progressive--a liberal--not a conservative. He helped create the atmosphere for unions, promoted conservation and the first national parks, and invited Booker T. Washington to the White House--the first President to invite a black man there. This was an era when the parties were regional, not limited to one political branch, and you could find conservatives, liberals, and moderates in both parties. It was a time very different from today. The whole reason he left the Republican Party and started the Bull Moose Party is because it was becoming part of what it is today--fully dominated by moneyed interests.

@@rikk319 and what are liberals today?
@rikk319
@rikk319 27 күн бұрын
@@jacksonquinn8744 Liberalism--in the United States at least--is based on concepts of unalienable rights of the individual. The fundamental ideals of freedom of the press, freedom of religion, the separation of church and state, the right to due process, and equality before the law are widely accepted as a common foundation of liberalism. Conservatives on the other hand often advocate for a strong national defense, gun rights, capital punishment, and a defense of Western culture from perceived threats posed by communism and moral relativism. American conservatives tend to question epidemiology, climate change, and evolution more frequently than moderates or liberals. Moderates tend most often not to belong to any political party, like me, though more moderates are found in the Democratic Party than the Republican Party, but it wasn't always that way.
