Billy Stewart's originals of "I Do Love You", "Sitting In The Park" and especially his cover of "Summertime" are so original and unique that no matter how good this is, and it is good, it can never come close to Billy's. Billy was in a class all his own.

I did love this song & I had it in my collection. The original song was sung by Billy Stewart in the 1960's. I was a little girl at the time. Billy Stewart was killed in a plane crash, but was NEVER given recognition. It's NOT that he was singing for a short period of time. He started singing in the 50's. His sister was Fontella Bass. She was popular for a song called, "Rescue Me." Billy Stewart sung another song that GQ also sung called, "Sitting In The Park." Please listen to the original version, of either song. Because the version is from 60's it's gonna be slower, but you'll appreciate it!!!

It really makes you cry thinking about the times we had back then. As a young person we enjoyed each other more. Taking a girl to McDonald's for a big Mc and some shakes, and Saturday morning WAOK 1380 you knew it was Saturday, because it felt like Saturday. Each day had it own feelings, but Saturday morning, Noon and Night was living it if you was born in those days 60's and 70's 80's. After that it became a "Shit Show." PBUY!

I'm glad you did this song. This was a banger back in my day when it came out. We used to do the Cha Cha and Two-Step off of this and what I like about this song is that they did not stray far from the original by "Billy Stewart" You should check it out and compare the difference and for those who don't know what GQ stands for (Gentlemen's Quarterly) it was a magazine from back in the day. I don't know if they still sell them now they might. I'm not sure

What probably grabs you so much is that this is a Doo-wop song. The type you mentioned is what was known as a "Blue Light Party!" They were nostalgically held in the basement. They were parties where couples would go or you went to find someone to go steady with. We used to have those in the 70s, and maybe in the 60s, too. Ask your grandma about them, too. From your reaction to the intro, I'd dare say that Doo-wop has a special hold on you. FYI, The Force MDs was the last group to record Doo-wop, which was popular. They had several hits from Tender Love, to Love Is A House, to Tears, Walking On Air, Here I Go Again, Couldn't Care Less, and Touch and Go. Check them out. Im sure that if you love Doo-wop as much as I suspect, youll love them too. BTW, they pioneered mixing R&B with Hip-hop, aka Hip-hop R&B, even before Mary J Blige. They have several videos of their most popular hits.
