Baby Girl...listen to Uncle Vinnie when I tell you. When this album dropped, the Purple Rain album, we went insane. It was summer 1984, I was 19 just finished my first year of college. My boys walked into the club doing that strut at the end of the video.

This is my favorite Prince song by far, because of the lyricism and the pictures he paints with his words and tone. "Dream, *if you can* , a courtyard." - Instantly there's something magical afoot, he's inviting us to go with him into this other world. It's also the "act of volition" , if you do this, you're agreeing to the rest of the invocation.

Prince had a way with rhythm, sound and music flow. Purple Rain was a great reflection of his love for music! You wanna hear an amazing song, listen to Batdance. It's such a great cacophony of sound, soul and music.

Cool reaction. He took the bass out of the record so u could feel like something was missing. Plus the record company wanted to make him a RnB artist. When u hear the longer version, he taught the keyboardist the synthesizer solo, played it real slow, then told him to speed it up. U gotta watch the Purple Rain movie w hubby so u see the songs in better context. Sent some Prince songs to your email so u could get variety. Enjoy.

Nah, he faded the bass because it was perfect without and most all tracks were performed on record by Prince as sole musician. The touring band did that version or a modified version for the live set. Prince produced his albums and look from the beginning. He was a true auteur that wrote and played and sang most everything. He often finished one if not more a day and his estate has a vault full of unreleased material, much like the prolific Frank Zappa.
