yeah lol, Same. And similarly Queen. Queens career never took off in the US, though their songs did. sounds weird, but especially before that movie a few years ago, SOOOO many people would have no idea who the band queen was if you asked them, but they would almost certainly know at least 5 of their songs lol. THat movie kinda ruined it for me, but I used to love just asking people if they heard of the band queen, and if they hadnt, getting a chuckle out of naming off their major hits: We Will Rock You, We are the Champions, Another one Bites the Dust, Bohemian Rhapsody... Each song they are slightly more shocked that the SAME BAND that they had NOT HEARD OF played all of those songs.

As a child of the 70s, it baffles me to see so many reaction channels are surprised that auto-tune wasn’t always around. Any song that came out before the mid-90s did NOT have auto tune. Period. Only natural genuine talent. ABBA, Queen, Journey… all of the greats had to have real talent to make it in the biz. Great reaction! Love you guys 💕
@daveaglasgow2 жыл бұрын
Was it Cher who started it? Believe in 1998. I don't think anyone had heard it before, it was cool at the time, but massively overused now.
@BlazinRiver12 жыл бұрын
Wrong...Auto tuning has basically been around since the 70s. Back in the day it was called "Pitch Correction". And I would bet money Journey used it once they sold out and got Perry in the band. Steve Perry turned a hard rock fusion band into a top 40 teeny bopper girly band. The fact that you mentioned them with Abba proves my point. I was in a rock band the 7th grade 1971(and am still playing). So you might say I was a child of the 70s too.
@BlazinRiver12 жыл бұрын
@@daveaglasgow It was call pitch correction in the 70s and many top 40 artists used it. Then in the 90s it was called auto tuning and used as an effect rather than a tool. In the beginning it was used to actually keep the vocals on pitch. Then it was used as a gimmick.
@BlazinRiver12 жыл бұрын
"Auto-Tune was originally intended to disguise or correct off-key inaccuracies, allowing vocal tracks to be perfectly tuned despite originally being slightly off-pitch. The 1998 Cher song "Believe" popularized the technique of using Auto-Tune to distort vocals." From Wikipedia It was the top 40 artists/producers that ruined a good tool for vocals.

I love their reactions to the music I often listened to (and disco danced to) in the 70s. Met my husband at a disco and we were married for 46 years! He passed in February this year. Keep exploring those songs! I had fun watching your reactions and enjoyed a blast from the past.

I grew up listening to all genres of music from country, rap, pop, rock, blues and r&b from all eras. Growing up my mom would listen to the Bee Gees nonstop. So alot of sentimental memories come from the Bee Gees. Memories with my mother that will last a life time. They are genius and legends.

I grew up in the 70s and 80's ... hands down the best era in music ever. We ushered in MTV (back when it only played music) and had just great music. But the Bee Gees started performing in 1958 as a kids group, and as music changed they did as well. They last multiple decades until one of them (Maurice) died in 2003 from a twisted intestine. Robin died in 2012 from Cancer and Barry (the oldest) is still alive and performing at 76.

This is from the soundtrack album to Saturday Night Fever, which they wrote entirely. This was for a while, the biggest selling album in history. Sad that Barry is the only one left. BeeGees are LEGENDARY!
@OhJodi69 Жыл бұрын
They did not write the whole Saturday Night Fever album. They wrote seven of the 16 songs. Two of the 7 were on previous Bee Gees albums. Three had been already written and recorded for an upcoming album they were working on. The Bee Gees weren't even asked for songs until the movie was in post production.

This is around 1976-77 and they were THE MOST FAMOUS GROUP IN THE WORLD THEN. Only Barry is still living the other two brothers died within the past 12 years. Barry is 76 and is STILL married to the same woman for over 50 years and was faithful to her and they have 4 or 5 kids. They are English but raised in Australia. They started out singing when they were older children. They've had so many hits and they were BFF's with Michael Jackson. Y'all should see the movie Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta dancing if you haven't already came out in 1977. Your friend with the curly mullet is a style from the early to mid 80's. Many white men permed their hair in the 70's it's funny and some of them look ridiculous your friend ought to get a 70's fro!

We don't always get wind of everything like that goes on in middle TN. THAT IS SO STUPID! You don't throw a cigarette on a old wood porch! And it's rude to do that at someone's house whether it's Barry or anybody. Most smokers I've known in the past will wet their cigarette under a faucet and throw it in the trash and won't even smoke in your house. Responsible smokers are respectful of others. @@paigecat9104 Not to mention their little brother Andy who was just as talented as they were. They wanted him to be in the group from the beginning but he was too young. He died at age 30. It was basically a severe heart problem that came from his years of drug abuse. Cocaine most of all weakened his heart. He had just celebrated his 30th birthday 5 days before his death and the worst part is that Barry, Robin and Maurice were *just about to finally add him to the group. They were about to make him the 4th Bee Gee at last but he died before he could get his chance to finally sing with his brothers just like he always wanted.* It's sad. And even more sad that Barry is the last one left having to live the rest of his life missing all of his brothers terribly. Yes he still has his sister Lesley (the oldest child in the family and the only girl who is never ever talked about at all) but it's still heartbreaking.

@@truthseeker9249 Oh I know! I remember when he died and was shocked! His poor mother how hard that was on her for going through losing her baby boy he was the youngest and was a Mama's boy which isn't a bad thing but precious. After I retired July 2020, I spent 2 years catching up on their songs. I viewed soooo many videos; talk shows; showing their families; their parents; feeling so sad when Maurice and Robin passed. Maurice was the one that was beginning to go bald. He embraced it. I saw a video where he said, "I'm Baldy Bee Gee." Then he smiled and laughed. He was my favorite. There's a video showing Barry at Robin's funeral. He kissed a rose, then placed in on Robin's casket. Michael Jackson was at the funeral. He stayed with Barry for a short time to get away from the troubles in his life. Sir Barry was 'knighted' by Prince Charles, who is now King Charles. Knighted means he received special recognition for his service to the music industry. His brothers received awards posthumously. There is another video where Barry is being interviewed, and tears started to come in his eyes.

These guys performed for more than 50 years before the first one died in 2003!! They were placed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and were recently named as experts in the Australian Songwriters Association just a few weeks ago! Bee Gees stands for Brothers Gibb. They used to sing in their bedroom as kids when Barry (the one in the middle) was 6 and the twins were 3! Their mother thought her sons were listening to the radio but it was actually them singing! The twins are Robin (Red shirt) and Maurice (pronounced Morris). They are a true class act! This song is 1970s disco!! This group performed beginning in the 1950s and their last album was released in 2001! They’ve changed their style over the decades to keep up with the change in music over the years. Listen to a song from the 1960s from this group and then listen to a more recent song and you would NEVER know it was the same group. To Love Somebody is a good one from the 1960s and You Win Again is more recent. Sounds like a different group!! R. I. P. Robin and Maurice, we love and miss you!!🫶
