This song is from the 70s. It's relating to the Vietnam conflict and any war really. How the generals and top 1% start the wars, for their own profit, but have others do the fighting. Ozzy Osborne is a classic rock star! When you hear and see him speak, you'd wonder how the heck he can sing the way he can!! lol

Dude, the vast majority of Rock musicians (MASTERS) in the 70's were young. Average age was about 21. You'll never see the INCREDIBLE musical talent from that time again. Certainly NOT from these latest 2 generations - the M's and Z's. The competition was fierce back then.

Just so y'all know, War Pigs came out in 1970 while Vietnam was going on and they grew up in Birmingham, England before they built the city back up after WWII so it was bombed out. They were tired of the hippies turning everything into peace and love when the world was anything but that. That's why they wrote this.

I was in the Navy when I purchased their first album. I was stationed on a Destroyer, so the ships store was too small to store albums, so I had to buy their 1st album on cassette. It was 1970, I was 18. I've never heard of them before. The album cover caught my eye, with the scary looking witch in the garden of what looked like a church. Well, when I placed it in my cassette and hit play, I was completely "BLOWN AWAY!!!!" Ozzie's' voice, and the very unique sound of the band. I was hooked for life!!! I'm 70 years old now, and Sabbath sounds just as good as they did to me in 1970.

@@dionysusincarnate5713 Evidently you completely missed the point as Smedley Butler, wrote "War is a Racket"" which allows the rich to make money and the poor, soldiers and most of all civilians to suffer the cost. Butler was a decorated marine but was used by the US government forces to act for the corporations and banking system. An example being the invasion and occupation of Haiti, marines taking their gold reserves from the bank at gunpoint and handing them over to the First National Bank.

I saw an interview with him where he was walking through his old neighborhood in Birmingham England, and he said the kids all used to play in the bombed out buildings - he was bourn at the end of WWII. People that say they don't get it are just annoying cause they seem to enjoy it but can't express(can't find words to compliment like riffs and shit because I didn't know what a guitar riff is till was like 20 lol so I relate to that) it because they are going out of their comfort zone and are listening to something most people wouldn't. I was a hiphop head and when I was listening to metal I was much more close minded and didn't get shit but now I can't get enough of it.

This song was released in 1970. The band got it's name from a Vincent Price horror movie of the same name. What made them different from other bands is that everyone else was singing about love and being happy. Ozzie Osbourne (lyricist, singer) described their music as being about nightmares, and a reflection of Manchester England, the dirty industrial city they grew up in! They are considered the first heavy metal band!

September 1970. (The 18th I think, but that's requiring a bit much from this old addled mind) 😂😂😂 Sad that nobody in our generation seems to have learned anything. Everyone getting behind this whole Ukraine bullshit, when it was none of our damn business to begin with. Just another reason to start another 20-year war, where the rich get richer and the ukrainians pay the price in blood. I see so many people claim to be anti-war but as soon as they see one happening they jump on the bandwagon cuz it's the latest popular thing to support! It's still a fucking war and it's not okay. Nations rise and fall that is the story of this globe we are all on. The only reason our government got involved in the Ukraine is because of the 20 some biolabs that are in the Ukraine funded by fauci and Friends. They're just trying to save their own asses they don't give a damn about the ukrainians the Russians or us. All they care about are their bank accounts

Thing about Black Sabbath, is they were the antitheses to the hippy music movement in their day. Also Ozzy was the only one who had a lot of gear(equipment wise) and a place to play.

Black Sabbath especially Ozzy, there’s no comparison to how legendary they were. The drugs the partying the music, that was what made music great was the pure enthusiasm to still get up and play even after weeks of endless hardcore partying. We gotta respect that music, most youngsters nowadays think it’s shit but they wrote about shit that’s going on in the world even to this day!

The guys in the band were kids in WWII Britain. This is what that sounded like in the music and influence. If these dudes made it like a lot of folks say (Heavy Metal), it was a direct product of the impact of war on young artists. Keep diggin in, young men. You’re getting some good stuff out of the channel.

They were actually born right after....grew up playing in bombed out buildings. Birmingham is an industrial town and that had a definite influence on their dark, heavy sound.

@@Milius47 correct! Their sound was inspired by the heavy industry around Birmingham, all the rhythmic thumping presses and other machinery going on. Their love of horror films I believe led to the more theatrical side, wanting to scare people as they enjoyed being scared by the films.

This isn't an official video, it's a fan generated one, but cool as hell. They're from the 70s and considered the Grandfather of Heavy Metal. The singer went on to have an amazing career. Maybe you've heard of the Legendary Ozzy Osbourne.

Motley Crue was on tour with Ozzy as the supporting act during the ant snorting incident. The reason that it was highlited was that Ozzy was the only musician the Crue met who could out party and out crazy them. Ozzy was notorious on the road with Sabbath and more so when he went solo. Sabbath is undeniably Ozzy's greatest band, I saw them play live during their 1st reunion tour.
