Troopers go through an extremely thorough background check. Unlike local law enforcement, they have to meet stringent qualifications. The officers I have known have all been the finest people you could know. Of course, sometimes they can get grumpy after dealing with "karens" all day long. I'm from the same small town as Roberts and knew him fairly well. No one ...and I mean NO ONE... who knew him would have ever expected this. He was one of the nicest, most polite people you could meet. It's crazy what people can hide. I still get mad thinking about how he abused his power.
