To be fair, as they seem to be lumping Demons and sinners together in Hell, it makes sense that they'd do the same with Angels and the inhabitants of Heaven. There actually *is* a distinction as Lute called Charlie a 'Hellborn', but it seems fairly academic for the most part

The point of the commercial is to attract more sinners to the hotel. Which makes sense, because Angel hasn't shown signs of improvement yet, and even if he had, can you imagine how slow and extremely ineffective salvation would be if she only had one resident at a time,( and what if that person failed)?The end goal is to help as many people as possible avoid eternal death, so they are trying to do just that. Remember, Charlie gets to live through a huge massacre every year. She is a naive sweetheart, but she is painfully aware they have no time to waste. And just like with Blitz, change takes time. Some people are going to be more receptive than others, some will mess up. So, they really shouldn't just rely on one person (Angel or whoever else) to do all the heavy lifting for their cause and ascend. That's a lot of pressure to put on someone who's probably already struggling to unlearn a whole bunch of toxic habits. As for Adam, he's doing this because "extermination is entertainment". And he really doesn't care about Charlie's ideas or beliefs. Sinners are bad. Hell is forever.

for the questions you ask yourself about the appearance of the sinners, it is related to their death, their way of life and their sins. For example, Alastor was a radio host who was a part-time serial killer in the 1920s-30s. He died when he was shot by a hunter who mistook him for a deer during a hunting trip while burying a body in the forest. That's why he has deer antlers, fur hair and ears and why he has radio-related powers.

@@ThePhantomNomad This information comes from the Hazbin Hotel wiki which justifies this information with a short biography from one of the official accounts of the creators of the series. This short biography gives us the year of his death (1933), a drawing of him with his pilot design and a short explanatory text. We have the same biographies for Charlie (born in hell), Angel (died in 1947), Vaggie (died in 2014), Killjoy (died in 1992) and Pentious (died in 1888).

Episode 1 is a retelling of the pilot, since they can't assume that people will watch the pilot. Episode 4 has a lot of insight into Angel Dust, and I don't think you will be disappointed by how they depict the sex work industry. Happy Day in Hell is very reminiscent of the opening of Beauty & the Beast. In this universe Adam didn't eat the fruit of knowledge of good & evil and therefore didn't commit original sin or go to hell.

At this point Angel doesn't really want to change, he's just playing along for the free rent. I think Charlie and Vaggie realize this so while they hope he'll come around they don't really put a lot of effort into him.

The whole premise of the show is: thats not black and white. sinners, demons, angels, "winners" they all have good traits and bad ones, nobody is pure good or pure bad and no one is completely without fault

You can watch after this season what droped before Amazon series. For example, Addict music video and "Valentino" animatic(which is not technicaly canon, but was made by Hazbin Hotel animator). It is all about Angel Dust

"Jesus, surrounded by a heavenly host, has broken down the gates of Hades and is taking both Adam and Eve by the wrist and taking them with him" After Jesus death he conquered the gates of hell to retrieve Adam and Eve from hell's grasp. "Harrowing of Hell" So, Adam already knows what hell is like and why he is such a pain in heaven. Because your right he got special permission but, he was forgiven by Jesus.

​@@TheDonOfEverythingIf you keep watching, you'll find out that Adam just showed up in Heaven and the angels accepted it as divine will, never knowing or questioning why. It's totally different from the Christian cannon. If he was a redeemed Sinner, he wouldn't have this attitude towards redemption. He knows what Hell is like only because he goes there for extermination, and also apparently consumes some media from there (in this episode he hinted at music, later he'll hint at porn). Also, there's probably no Jesus in this universe just like there's no God, but looks like some other characters will eventually do Jesus' job.

Isn't the fruit Eve ate specifically called "the fruit of knowledge of good and evil"? Knowledge itself wasn't sinful but the knowledge of the very concept of evil, which had been absent from humanity, gave humanity the ability to sin beyond mere disobedience to god.

don't worry lol adam and exorcist's demonic faces are not real faces and they are masks. There are real faces under there. Talking abou ep 1,i think this ep had the purpose of showing history of how extermination happened and reintroducing characters for people who have not watched the pilot. The reason why vaggie is recording the video is to film commercial for hotel like you cannot just advertise hotel without any commercial. and spoiler alert(avoid if you want) all the angels are not depicted as bad like adam and exorcists despite people who haven't seen this series entirely saying all demons are good and all angels are depicted as bad in this show which is wrong.

Exorcists aren`t normal angels, they`re basically mortal souls who got into Heaven for good behavior or in Adam`s case less shitty behavior than the other Sinners and work under the actual angels to prevent a Sinner uprising in Heaven through exterminations.

The same way there are sinner demons and hellborn demons, there are angels that were born angels and angels that are just "winners", souls that lived a life virtuous enough to make it to Heaven. Adam, being the first man (who lived before humanity really got problematic with free will) was the first human to enter Heaven and become a winner angel, despite the fact he is the biggest misoginist of all time. All of the angel army, if you notice, are female angels (most likely winner angels as well). That is because it was Adam who chose his exorcists and made them all female because he wants to be in control of them. The simple fact he considers himself the best just because he is the first man says everything.

@@TheDonOfEverything Yeah, that is the biblical telling of the story. But we still don't know how the story of Cain and Abel will be adapted, if Viv ever decides to adapt it. If she managed to adapt Lucifer's story to portrait him as a misunderstood angel who actually wanted to help make humanity better but miscalculated the consequences of his actions, she can also adapt the story of the first murder in a similar way. Between some adaptations in fiction, I've seen some where Cain killed Abel to prevent him from being corrupted by the devil (that one from "Supernatural") and I've seen one where Cain and Abel were always fighting each other until the former killed the other and, because Abel was the "asshat" brother, he ended up in Hell (that one from "Lucifer"). The story of Cain and Abel is actually on my wish list for either Hazbin Hotel or Helluva Boss.

In the pilot, during Charlie's whole song in the beginning about being a failure, there's a silhouette of Lucifer looming over her. She also mentions in her voicemail to her mom about how her dad might be right about her. A lot of implications there!

14:24 Give time to the show. Angel totally has the time to portay the abuse there’s in the porn industry, his over the top behaviour is a copying mechanism. Also, the choice to make Adam the main enemy is methaporical, Adam being the first man (therefore emodying humanity in its worst characteristics, he’s mysogenistic, homophobic, racist, a general alpha male, get me?), also meaning that angels in general aren’t the enemy. You’ll have the chance to see heaven and real angels later on. 32:04 they don’t actually look this way, they have masks. There are good angels, these are just exorcists. Point is there are evil angels and evil demons, as far as there are good angels and people in hell who sinned but aren’t actually evil, like Angel for a say. The show doesn’t just define a black or white, good or bad; both angels and demons are morally grey, but there are bad and terrible angels (as Adam), but there also bad and unredeemable demons (you’ll meet the Vees next episode for a say). The show has a good prompt, my real big complain is that it feels really rushed. They didn’t know how many episodes they were gonna get in the future so they run fast too much in my opinion, missing the chance to better developing the dynamics. Totally unrelated to the reaction, but as an agnostic, Christian raised, skeptical 20 years old I also have a question i wish you could answer. I’ve already asked my mom and the priest of my city but neither of them gave me a satisfying answer. Why did God forbid for Adam and Eve to have access to knowledge? He didn’t want them to be able to distinguish between good and evil? This doesn’t make any sense, why would he put the tree there in the first place then? I always felt like denying the possibility to understand reality was a cruel act from god portayed as “protection” or an act of charity while i always saw that as hypocritical. Can you explain me your viewpoint about this?

He was just disappointed that they did not trust in him that was the sin. Humans always had free will and he just wanted them to be safe as a parent. But, he knew they would eat it. As evil was all around them but evil came from the fruit thus the animals changed when they ate the fruit. Satan was temptation he wanted Adam and Eve to know right and wrong! Personally, I believe God was always going to give them knowledge but, wanted to ease them into it. Basically the tree was a test of freewill.

This isn’t free will, the only choice given is between obedience and eternal damnation. God is forbidding them to know the truth about reality, to distinguish good and evil, and for no reason at all. “Satan, the temptation, the evil wanted them to know good and evil” and what’s wrong with that?
