Thinking clearly about sin helps us to overcome it! This passage is liberating for the believer who is struggling with the bondage of sin.

I have been watching your videos as my morning and evening devotionals. You are exactly what I needed at this time, having come back to live in the Lords grace after years of following after my own lusts and desires. I hated myself, having known what freedom was, but now finding myself enslaved once again to my flesh, I was miserable. God let me stay like this for 10 years. I would on occasion cry out to Him, but he knew my heart was not ready. Now though it is. I found myself completely broken, and God finally restored me to Him. I listen to you and it is as though you are speaking aloud my relationship with Him. As you speak I know it is spoken truly, and through the Holy Spirit. Thank you sir!

Her family is still in the religion and I try my best to love them everyday and hopefully show them some of the Truth they're missing. Thanks for this. A few years ago I read the Bible for the first time and I believed and was afraid. I've spent the past few years feeling like the description of the demons from James 2:19 definitely included me. I've heard a lot of great sermons while trying to figure out how to stop my trembling long enough to obey and love God. I probably don't attribute enough in my life to the direct work of the Spirit, but I can't help but think the Spirit put this video in my feed tonight.

My brothers and sisters, please pray for me and a friend, Lynda Byrd Kimble, as we have today debated whether we are now sinless in this body in this world here and now after saved by faith in Christ. Romans and many other portions of God's Word were brought up. She seems to believe that she is now sinless in her new life following Christ. She claims that she does not sin. I am worried that she is blind/ignorant/insensitive to the speck in her own eye, the sins of commission and omission in her current life even as she is seeking to serve God. I have no doubt that she sins, falls short, misses the mark of the perfect holy standard of righteousness of God, in some way at some time during her daily life even now as she claims to love God and follow His law. She claims that some figures in the Bible that are not God/Jesus were perfectly sinless! She claims that David only sinned once in his whole life on earth...I worry she is deeply deceived and in great error here. If I am wrong, then Lord save me! Help me! Oh, Yahweh, I need you! Holy Spirit, write your word on my heart and renew my mind! However, if I am not in error here, then I must pray that she be enlightened and rebuked and repent from her pride and self-righteousness! She may be sinning in her heart and not fully aware of this fact! God, have mercy on her! By your grace and your perfect works are we saved, not by anything I think/say/do, it is all your merit, I have no merit of my own that is worthy of you! ❤ ✝️

All those drinking and cheating songs are very honest they all explain vividly how that lifestyle has destroyed their lives, like everyone who listens to this kind of music should live better cause they understand the consequences of living the other way, but that's not how it works.

I truly believe Baptism should take place when the Believer is ready. I was baptized within the hour. I’ve watched spontaneous Baptisms take place during church services with the conclusion being an eruption of applause and cheering the new member of the family. It is a small reflection of Christ’s celebrating a lamb being found.

I just started this teaching on Romans and am learning alot, again thanks for your effort and all it takes for you to do this. But one thing I disagree with is that a Christian can be carnal. Paul wrote to the corinthians because they were carnal in his letter to them nowhere does he commend or agree with their carnality. As a matter of fact he goes into great detail pointing out their carnality and telling them how wrong it was. He didn't leave them in that carnal state because by God's standard it was wrong. Then we look at what the Bible says about carnality and it's all negative then looking at Romans 6, the choice we have to follow righteousness instead of sin simply drives that truth home all the more. In my own life I am from the beautiful island of Dominica and in our Christian churches here apart from gospel mission church we learn nothing of theology, and as sad as that is am not exergerating. There is so much about our services and the preached word that use to bother me because I kept thinking that something was wrong with me that am the one who didn't get it. Because majority of our Christians are carnal Christians from the pulpit to the pew. Why didn't holiness matter that was my question along with so many more. Even me would do things I knew to be wrong all the time. One day in prayer I asked God is that it? Is this the Christian life how are we living any better than they unsaved, even they have no respect for us because like they themselves say we are no different and they are telling the truth in that sense we live like they live. Then I said to God BUT when I look at your word I see something so completely different and I pleaded with God that day to show me what am not seeing that I wanted what he has in the scriptures that I no longer wanted to live such a mediocre Christian life, I wanted truth. And it was like with a month of praying that way that I came across John MacArthur on KZbin and listening to the way he taught from the Bible was so amazing to me I was hooked and I found people like David parsons, ravi zacharias, David baucham, you (Mike winger) and for the first time in my life I found true christianity. Biblical teachings sound doctrine and I can't stop rejoicing my mind have been renewed and it's so clear to me now. Now I understand why our churches are the way they are they don't have the true gospel they don't have theology. And since learning Christ, since learning about God and who he truly is my daily walk with Christ has improved so much there is actual transformation in my life. I had to give up friends ect but am not sad about that because I would rather have Jesus. Alot of people who are suppose to be Christian think am weird now even my former pastor told me that am confused, judgemental a trouble maker because I don't want to follow the norm. I said all this to say that now that I know God what Christ did for me I see sin for what it really is, the blinders has come off and I don't want any part of it. I understand it's the Christian struggle everyday but choosing righteousness is so much better. So when you think of carnal Christians I find that to be a contradiction in and out of itself. If we love God we will hate sin. Carnal Christians live sinful lives on a daily basis the renewing of the mind hasn't happen they have not been transformed. And that's what being born again is. I thought all these years I was born again I wasn't, I didn't even understand salvation by grace alone. We so badly need bible teachers in Dominica. Didn't even know what I was being saved from. From reading scripture especially passages like Romans 6 I cannot believe there is such a thing as a carnal christian. These two words should never be together. Our pastors here in Dominica their knowledge of scripture is all word of faith and prosperity gosple. Very very sad. Remember us in prayer

Romans 2:14-15 Even Gentiles, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know his law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right

Notice in Rom 6:22 that the "end" (or consequence) of being a slave of righteousness is holiness and the end of holiness is eternal life. Eternal life is NOT the "end" of "faith in Christ" - necessarily - holiness is. But holiness, and eternal life, can be the end of faith in Christ if we "work out our salvation" as Paul says in Philippians.

Mike, God bless you. Im a sinner.Quick stipulation though.The alpha and the omega, without beginning and without end (meaning eternal, and almost like a circle if you will, for the sake of imagery, just like faith and the works,..and the works and faith together coming full circle). And of course, saved by the Blood of Jesus, indeed we are. But what did Jesus do(rhetorical). He didn't wait until He was 31 years old, playing soccer, until He had to be crucified for us. :) He did the works of the Father (praying, blessing, teaching, preaching, praising, feeding the hungry, etc.), you know~the works. (kindly saying it "faith without works is dead, and works without accepting our Savior, is also just a human muscular contraction).Shalom.

@PianoDisneygal105 жыл бұрын
Water baptism does nothing for you in terms of salvation or santification (the process of increasing holiness in your life). It doesn't save you or make you holy. Christ alone does that. Water baptism is symbol of what he's done for you and what happens to you as a person when you accept him as savior.

Hey Mike, I was baptized as a Catholic when i was a baby. Does it make sense to get baptized again? 15 years ago, i came to true biblical gospel faith and have been born again... and have wondered. "Should i get baptized?"
@GizmoFromPizmo3 жыл бұрын
The word "should" is an imperative, like the word or "ought". Modern usage have turned these words into optional but at the time, "should" meant "must". "Should" is a form of the word "shall". To say, "I will" means, "I want to" but to say, "I shall" means, "it's gonna happen". So when the bible uses the word "should" it is imperative. Hebrews 2:9 - But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God *should* taste death for every man. He tasted death for every man because that is what He MUST have done. Imperative.

I think that sinning all you want isnt the problem. With true faith in the lord comes the desire to not sin at all. And so we should strive to live that. If someone is committing sins because they think they can just sin all they want, then the question should not be "is it okay for me to do so" and instead should be "why on earth would I want to squander the second chance God has given me and continue to live in sin?"

Once we realize that we are responsible for our sin and is the product of our mind, this gives us the key to understanding what is personified by the Satan/Devil/Serpent. There is nothing mythical or fable about these terms, they are personifications representing the carnal mind. The World represents carnal thinking, and Jesus overcame the World. That has to be our goal, but because we fail, we are dependent on Christ to win the victory for us.
@volkspanzer84445 жыл бұрын
Mike, what is the biblical definition of repentance at 12:10? Is this a declaration to God that you will no longer 'live in sin'? Are we to promise to God that we will change our ways before we receive our salvation? Or is this a realization that because of our sinful nature, we must put our trust and faith in Christ, and we will be born again, so that, through Him, our sinful ways will change?

So true about justification. And this is how the bible justifies Abortion. Numbers 21:11-31 Here the priest is to put the woman under this curse-“may the LORD cause you to become a curse among your people when he makes your womb miscarry and your abdomen swell. 22 May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells or your womb miscarries.”

sooo nothing on why the woman is under a curse?! why the abdomen swells? Also i can only say this because i know what passage you referring too and as far as i know it doesn't speak on miscarriage . so your relying on the fact that people don't read to spread a lie with, So your saying fornication is justified and abortion is justified?! Your message here is Sin is okay because your justified by faith in jesus christ so kill a child your self. you ignore that GOD is the only one who can give and take life and have decided its okayu to take the place of god in your life. stop

Elaine Ekins - I would suggest a book by one of the great heroes of the Christian faith, CS Lewis. The specific book is called The Great Divorce. Perhaps that will give you something to think about concerning the afterlife.
@rachelnstephens7 жыл бұрын
Elaine Ekins I know how you feel. When my grandma died, I was distraught because even though my grandma attended church her entire life, she didn't actually believe it. It was more of a social thing for her. People make choices and when it comes to relationships, God won't force Himself on you. If you don't want Him, He respects that decision. Unfortunately what most people don't realize is that their 2 options are to be under the authority of God or Satan. Because we live in a sinful world, by default we're placed under Satan's authority - we have to actively reject Satan and submit to God. Sort of like you're born under the authority of the Queen and if you don't want to be her subject, you'll need to pledge allegiance to a different PM/President and move out of her domain. When your time on earth is up, your decision is finalized. Unfortunately people won't realize their mistake until it's too late. While there's nothing any of us can do to change the personal decisions of others, we can share the good news of the gospel so that they can make an informed decision for themselves.

Rachel Stephens - Are you stating that your grandma told you she thought all of the core theological propositions of the church she attended were a bunch of crap? Did she tell you that she went just to hang out with her cool friends despite thinking the whole thing was a fairy tale? Plus are you saying that God is not actively involved in punishing those that reject Him? That it's just as simple as going our own way? Have you ever heard any of the theological and philosophical problems with that sorta thing? Are we all just pawns in a cosmic chess game between Yahweh and Lucifer?
@rachelnstephens7 жыл бұрын
Joshua Daniel Yes, she did say that to me, as did her mom, my great-grandma. They said it wasn't believable, but my grandma liked volunteering to sew outfits for kids plays and chatting with women during church dinners because she was divorced and our family lives all over the country. It was a place for her to get regular social interaction. Sorry for oversimplifying in a KZbin comment, but I don't think the OP was hoping for an exhaustive dissertation on an afterlife in Hell.

Rachel Stephens - Your Grandma sounds like a level headed and kind woman. Do you really feel an unending torment fits her crime? What was her crime anyway?

How ..can I be happy, knowing that my past loved ones are most likely in torment? They all made professions of faith in the watchtower teachings about Christ . I hear people at church talk about seeing thier loved ones again, and I don't have that same hope. It makes me feel like throwing up to think about my grandparents, who were real gentle, kind, generous, are in hell and my other relatives , drunks, womanizers, ect, are in heaven because they professed Christ but lived like hell on sat night and church on Sundays only. Any advice? I was much closer to my j.w. side of the family.

Hey brother, late but can I tell you what I think? Pray for them. Not that God will change his judgement but that before they die they come to Christ. This is how I view it so I may be in error, but God hears prayers before you were made, he sees all, he is at the beginning of time and eternity. He may take these prayers for them into account before you ever realised you made them. He may give them a chance for deliverance before they die you never see. He won't break free will but what harm can it do? If it is in his will, it will be done. Maybe you have a nice surprise beyond the pearly gates.

Mike, can you please do a video on these pastors who use the Bible to justify abortion!?
@jacobdiscipleofjesusforeve4194 жыл бұрын
Jesus said if qe practice sin we are a slave to sin and that we cant serve 2 masters. also Jesus said that no one who practices sin will inherit the kingdom. also remember verse 7 says that 'when you died with Jesus (by baptism) He broke the power of sin natures control over us.' So we can live a sin free life whereby we are empowered to overcome by what Jesus did when we joined him.

Where does the Bible say we are born sinful ?

The Protestant way of thinking about sin: "I'm saved! I believe in Jesus and that makes me saved! I can now sin all I want and still go to Heaven!"
@monamuller89694 жыл бұрын
No, that´s not true what you say here. Did you ever read the Bible? Does it say you should sin? Romans 6:15: What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? Do you want to tell me that you can work yourself into heaven? Because I can´t find a passage where it says that. Ephesians 2:8-9 : For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast. James 2:26: For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Works can´t save you. You are saved through faith. But works are the result of faith. But again they can´t save you. 2 Corinthians 5:17 : Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. So please try to understand the other side first before saying things that are not true and no sincere Christian would say.

@@monamuller8969 You are quite correct to cited those passages. Those passages sure do refute the whole Protestant idea of I'm-saved-I-can-sin-allI-want, don't they? Now that you see how unscriptual Protestantism really is why don't you convert to Catholicism?

@@GeorgePenton-np9rh _I'm-saved-I-can-sin-allI-want, don't they?_ No like I said that`s not what Protestants believe. What I told you in the comment before that´s what Protestants believe. I am faithful to the Bible that´s why I don´t convert to Catholicism.

@@monamuller8969 Catholicism says we must repent of our sins if we want to go to Heaven, and so does the Bible. Protestantism says believe in Jesus and sin all you want. So it is Catholicism, not Protestantism, that goes by the Bible. "If you live me, keep my commandments." --Jesus "If you sin, sin boldly, but believe more boldly still." --Martin Luther

@@GeorgePenton-np9rh _Catholicism says we must repent of our_ _sins if we want to go to Heaven, and so_ _does the Bible_ That´s good. I agree with that. _Protestantism says believe in Jesus and_ _sin all you want._ You can repeat that as much as you want. That doesn´t make it true. I don´t believe it and I am Protestant. And Mike Winger doesn´t believe that either. You can´t just claim something and tell me what I believe what I don´t. That´s unproductive. I told you what Protestants believe in the comment above. _"If you love me, keep my_ commandments."_ Jesus. I 100 % agree with that. _"If you sin, sin boldly, but believe more_ _boldly still." --Martin Luther_ That quote is most likely completely taken out of context. But you see I follow Jesus Christ and not Luther. And I don´t follow the Catholic Church since in my eyes they are unbiblical. They add things that are not in the Bible.

Correct me if I misheard part of this, but it sounded like he said that there carnal Christians. I don't believe that there are. If he believes that some Christians are addicted to a sinful lifestyle, then he believes in the hard form of OSAS. This does essentially mean a license to sin. It would mean that AronRa is correct that you can be a n evil person and still get into heaven according to Christianity. Good advice on dealing with sin nature though.

The true important baptism is in the Holy Spirit. This is also the same as being born again. There is an actual change inside us when this happens. On the other hand water baptism is symbolic. Now water baptism and the baptism of the Holy Spirit don’t happen at the same time. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is done by the Father as He accepts the true repentance of a sinner. Just because you are baptized by water, it does not make you a Christian you need the baptism of the Holy Spirit,..you will know when this happens.

For the baptism thing could you answer my question? I was baptized in my faith but at the time I was fighting an addiction before and after the baptism until the Holy Spirit took it away from me. Is that a real baptism or do I need to get a new one?
