Everytime I come back to these videos, after practicing the exercises, I learn something new. That is what makes this series so good.

Incredible content as always, Mike! Your videos are by far the most well-illustrated and the easiest to understand with regards to BFM. I've made it a point to make all of my DCS squadron mates aware when your videos go live. Keep up the amazing work! Looking forward to the next video!

Well explained, but I understand none of it. It's hard when it is in two dimensions.

9:25 I really don’t understand how to utilise the advantage of this situation, you’re slower so you kinda winning scissors but if the opponent will decide to just exit scissors into 2C then not only you won’t get a gun solution but also will have speed that is way below rate speed so by the time you get your rate speed the opponent already will be at your 6, same with normal 1C, at any moment the guy who has more energy can just go 2C and win so what is the point of forcing 1C? For instance in Su-27 vs F-16 fight, F-16 will lose 1C but it can do 1-2 high speed turns (so basically kinda “losing” turns cause radius will be much higher) in 1C to just bleed Su-27’s speed and then enter 2C and that’s it, the Su won’t be able to do literally anything in this case. The only chance the Su has is to kill the F-16 during first 2 turns but the distance between planes and F-16’s high speed makes it as random as to shot a flying bird with your eyes closed PS: I’m talking from WT sim perspective so the flight models of all planes are not realistic, for instance in Su-27vsF-16 the F-16 will actually win in 1C in WT at any speed above 180-200kph (100-110knots, yes in WT the F-16 can continuously pull up to 30deg AoA at 120knots with 16deg/s turn rate) and all FM’s have no G limiters so you can easily pull over 10G sustained at high speeds without losing the plane

I can't wait until I am at a level that I can even attempt this style of combat. I have only had DCS now for a few months and have barely had a chance to get the basics down like landing and weapon deployment. How to use the FCR and all the other systems in the Viper. But that day is coming. I now have my HOTAS set up to where everything is comfortable and I can manipulate the sensors and lock up a target, shoot and land. That may not sound like much but it is huge. After shooting down some red cargo planes, I can find the airfield using TACAN and land at night. The first time I pulled that off was time to celebrate.

That's fantastic. Those are all great milestones. Congrats on reaching them. As long as you are always improving you're on the right track. In fact, the path to being great is to always keep that mindset.

@@TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom Thanks. I really mean it. KZbin is like a University for DCS and guys like you are the professors. But that's what makes it so good. Anything you have to keep peeling back layers to learn will keep it's appeal for years. Some things, you peel back the first layer and that's all there is.

What is LOS?
@TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom
@TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom Жыл бұрын
Its short for "Line of Sight". In BFM it refers to where you see the other aircraft on the canopy and more specifically how it is moving across the canopy. So when you have "aft LOS" it is moving toward the back of the canopy and "forward LOS" is moving towards the nose of the plane. This apparent movement is a good clue on how the fight is progressing.

Thanks Mike - another fantastic and well presented video. @Mike: - Have you considered Patreon? I for one would pay a monthly subscription for this content. - I have an ongoing project that i run and your videos are increasingly becoming a feature. I wonder if you are willing to speak directly, perhaps via email, discord or similar?

Thanks. Right now I'm not planning on anything paid like Patreon because this is a side project for me. I only work on it when I have time available. When people are paying monthly for access then I would feel obligated to provide something extra for them. Unfortunately, I don't have time now for anything beyond what I post here. As for chatting, I don't mind helping out if you're working on a project. However, I have a couple other content creators ahead of you that I promised to collaborate with. Again, I'm not sure when I would be available. But you can email me at the link under the channel's about tab if you have any specific questions.
