I am impressed by the number of disciplines you cover, and the quality of your coverage. You not only know the solutions, and present them in a clear and understandable manner, but you also teach why the solutions are what they are. You have a pleasant voice on top of it.

I spent a full hour trying to solve one of these and was on the verge of losing my mind because my professor wanted me to get my diagonal ones by multiplying the rows by the inverse (fractions make everything so much harder). I was about to skip both problems because I was having no luck, but then stumbled upon your video and got both of them right! Thank you so much!

I have not studied math at the university, and I would say, it is material from my high school. I have had a difficult period in life, and thought, that I have to find something, which would give me some stability in its repetition. I have tried music, books, and everything, but remembered, that many years ago, matrices has been my beloved part of math in high school. After downloading the College Algebra, 11 Edition, I started the 8th chapter, and could not understand 70% of it. As a person, who, despite the formal methods at the university has not had any math for more than 10 years, I would say, it is a perfect explanation for beginners. I could follow EVERY lesson. This is amazing. I do understand, that the formulas and equations are elementary, but it somehow brings me joy to solve them. Thank you very much for the perfect and logical work done! Wish you good luck with this channel. However, with 5,41 Million subscribers you do have one!=) I will follow this and the next playlists as well.

i remain confused. whats the point of matricies? why not just do all those operations directly on the equations?? for example if we have 2x +3y = 11 x -y = -2 why put them into matrices? why not just apply the changes directly like this: R2 = R2 -(1/2)*R1 2x +3y = 11 x -y = -2 + -(1/2)(2x +3y = 11) 2x +3y = 11 x -y = -2 + (-x -(3/2)y = -(11/2)) 2x +3y = 11 -(5/2)y = -(15/2) which has same effect as [ 2 3 | 11 ] [ 0 -(5/2) | -(15/2) ] then R2 = R2/(-(5/2)) or R2 = -(2*R2)/5 2x +3y = 11 y = 3 which has same effect as [ 2 3 | 11 ] [ 0 1 | 3 ] then R1 = R1/2 x +(3/2)y = (11/2) y = 3 which has same effect as [ 1 (3/2) | (11/2) ] [ 0 1 | 3 ] and boom. same exact result except i saved time by not translating the equations into matricies and back. i just applied the changes directly on the equations. y = 3 so x +(3/2)(3) = (11/2) x +(9/2) = (11/2) x = (2/2) x = 1 x, y --> 1, 3 why do we need matricies for this???

@alexting8273 жыл бұрын
wayy too late but like if you have a system of infinite solutions then you only need 1 parameter...that's the point of the parametric curve, to generalize in terms of 1 variable
@fatimadaghmash16125 жыл бұрын
sooo how can we solve such systems if they’re only 3 equations but have 4 unknowns? which numbers do I convert to zeros?
@fatimadaghmash16125 жыл бұрын
there’s*
@TheSomeone771775 жыл бұрын
i think you would still start with getting your leading ones and reducing the numbers under them to 0. the column that doesn't have a leading one will be assigned a parameter like 's' or 't' and the value in that column acts as the coefficient of the parameter
