For the camgirl theory, I was wondering how she could get away with talking to livestreams or making.....um.....questionable sounds for her audience. But then I realized that all of those packages, and the "cloth-like" smell, could indicate she was buying acoustic panels for soundproofing. Acoustic foam smells VERY strongly of chemicals when they're first opened, and that's what u/Howwwwww is confusing for the scent of "clean cloth" (clean cloth is basically just a mild chemical smell).

My theory is she is an extreme collector with a collection that requires 4 whole rooms. She may have an unhealthy fascination with collecting plushies (fabric smells?) or some obscure items and feel he would be upset about how much money she spent or the fact she needs to take up the entire floor for her obsession. Maybe she was not lying about the cameras being for her mom and explain why it was the only item she accidently bought off their Amazon. Another idea is based off her having 'trigger topics' which could mean possible childhood trauma it could be a little space/play rooms and she does not want him to see that side of her/ she would not feel safe in that space with him around.

Camgirl theory makes the most sense to me. It explains everything. The smell could be to mask the smell of foreign objects/clothes. As for having multiple rooms, I would like to bring to the stands Belle Delphine. We all know who she is, we all know she makes hella cash doing camgirl stuff and only fans stuff, so what if OP's wife is in the same boat? Multiple rooms = multiple different places to shoot, potentially different stages and backgrounds, hence some of the Amazon deliveries, which could be set pieces, "toys" for her shots, skimpy clothing, cameras for that 24 hour Livestream someone mentioned. It just makes the most sense to me. On the opposite side, she could also just be horrible at adapting to change, and feel the need to monitor her own comfort space within the house. Can't see that taking the whole floor. But a room or two just as her own private space would make sense. Though that doesn't explain nearly as much as the camgirl theory.

Something to consider with these hoarder, mlm, and collector theories is where was all of this stuff before the house? They dated for a while before buying the house, so I can only assume he went over to her place more than once. If she needs a whole floor for everything now, she would have needed a decent amount of space back then. So, he would have run into all of her junk before they bought the house. If it was hidden away in storage back then, why not keep it there? Also, how would she move all of it into the house and upstairs without him knowing or seeing it? If it is a new problem, then she wouldn't have planned it out right away. Her collection or hoarding would have started smaller and more out in the open. Then she would have started hiding the new items. And any mlm that requires you to keep and maintain your own inventory ships directly in their own boxes, not amazon boxes.

Anyone I've ever seen online or known irl when they first get into MLMs they are super stoked and tell lots of people about it, especially their family and friends, and it is anything but a secret, the people who rope them into MLMs pitch it as a life changing opportunity and super amazing and the secrecy and shame doesn't happen until months, sometimes years down the road when they've lost a lot of money. I think it's unlikely she would've hid it at first or anyone really, if you're presented with what's allegedly an amazing opportunity to make money easily one of the first people I (and many others) would tell is my partner

She may have experiences with several MLMs (even when some people lose money, they will still trust another one) and might have butted heads with loved ones about it, so she now knows to keep it under wraps. It can be like an addiction and addicts become very elaborate at hiding it. Maybe her own family does know but she made them promise not to tell her boyfriend. She could’ve realized from conversations they’ve had that he thinks MLMs are a scam or in general wouldn’t approve the venture. Or she could just have trust issues. Not everyone goes through that “I’m gonna tell everyone” phase. She would only need an online community where they share this ideology. Lots of these products are sold online on livestreams and such so you don’t need to push them to your family and friends. I see your point but I still find it a plausible theory. It’s obviously an extreme case so her behavior can’t be judged on what people typically do. She might just be thinking “You wouldn’t believe it now but one day we will be rich thanks to me. Just wait, it will all be worth this uncertainty”

The idea of someone using this as a way to test the waters and see how people would react in such a situation is interesting and plausible. The first thing people think of is probably abusive spouses, people with secrets they wanna make sure they could keep, or even a wannabe serial killer. BUT even more likely is that it’s a writer who is writing such a story and is using this to scope out all reasonable actions people would take and the questions the reader would have, so they can anticipate them and fix any plot holes. The more I think about it, the more it fits. Let’s all watch out for this premise in media in the next couple years, lol. The LulaRoe (or other MLM) theory is also surprisingly plausible. She may have put all her money into the inventory, she might be deep into it and believe it’s gonna make them rich eventually. She would need lots of space for inventory as well as a space to model them and do livestreams where she sells them directly. It’s very common. This would just be an extreme way of hiding it from your partner.

Way too many holes in it, like the idea that someone would have an entire floor dedicated to seemingly silent camgirling or that someone that paranoid of getting caught wouldn't consider the possibility of them being exposed to their partner online through memes or explicit searches or that a friend might recognise her. Not to mention that in most peoples eyes, camgirling isn't THAT taboo anymore. I never thought about it from the perspective of the person that is doing the sectioning off of the house, though. It does seem more plausible that someone might write that post to either fish for viability or to try and judge how their partner is going to go about trying to figure out what they are up to in their secret rooms where they do probably illegal shit. I think the Cam girl theory is the most interesting, especially with how well all the parts fit into place with all the loose ends But She's probably using the floor for marketing or smth for her MLM, and needs to keep up a certain aesthetic and u/how doesnt/wont fit into it. You need to portray Happiness and Success to get people to buy your stuff online, Keep your brand up like Youve said in other videos. To compound on Ashley AJ's theory... (Becase I agree U/Howww is definitely also a victim as well) I think that the wife's actions in the post are just her neurotic way of coping with trauma. This may just be me projecting, but virtually anyone who's been through any sort of trauma has triggers or banned topics of conversation at some point. From U/Howww's story, it seems like something deeply traumatic happened to her. Someone seemed to of had hurt her so deeply that she can never truly trust anyone ever again. Throughout his post we see themes of her issues with trust and needing space. No one had been in her childhood bedroom in years, not even OP was allowed inside. Her childhood bedroom seemed to be her "safe space" (for lack of a better term) and the control that she was able to have over that space by not allowing anyone in it for years brought her stability and comfort. Her room was a haven, no one could enter and harm her in any way. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the upstairs to their new home became an extension of her childhood bedroom. She likely has the capability to live up there and never need to come downstairs if she so chooses. This is what she believes will upset him - that she can live an entirely separate life and effectively cut him off and live as if they are roommates splitting the rent on a house together if she wants. The cameras are there to help assure her that her larger "safe space" is secure. When it was just a bedroom, she could easily lock the door to ensure that no one could enter. With an entire floor? In a new place? She had to expand her security measures. u/Howww probably hasn't posted again because she likely found the post. This likely triggered her trust issues, which likely caused a fight. He's probably been dealing with a long drown-out divorce due to COVID.

is there a possibility she’s selling drugs or other illicit merchandise? i don’t know why you’d need four rooms for that, but maybe she’s using the barrier of the extra rooms to hide certain smells and they’re not all being used. “old linen smell” could be large amounts of Lysol sprayed around to cover something with a more prominent scent. could also explain why she receives large packages but only the cameras were charged to the Amazon account. u/how might have assumed everything was from Amazon as a catch-all, when in fact the cameras were the only thing that came from there. and if she spends enough time up there to prevent entry, maybe she set up a kitchenette and a spare bedroom as well. she wouldn’t have to come downstairs as often to use other appliances and therefore take an eye off her stock.

She supposedly moved away from her parents' house or shared collage dorm straight to living with boyfriend. We have some hints about abuse in her household. Maybe this is the first time in her life she has some space for herself, where she can be alone and safe. She had her own room at parents house, but it doesn't mean there were locks in the door and she felt safe there. Or perhaps it's reverse, she had a lock in her bedroom and it was the only safe space in the house where she could hide from abuse. Amazon packages and smell might be just a red herring, it's not weird to buy a lot of stuff after moving in to a new house and different smells come can come from many different sources when you don't take perfect care of your house. She says he might be upset if he knew about upstairs and that sounds ominous, but it doesn't need to be - she wants to live alone and can't trust anyone, even her own future husband, isn't that upsetting as well? One thing that doesn't make sense to me in cam-girl theory is that she claimed an entire floor, not just a room. Yeah sure, she can have 4 different studios but when you think about it, it doesn't make much sense why would she do that. Maybe she is afraid he will hear her moaning, but then if she is this loud on cam, he would hear her through the floor as well. Αssuming he is right about there being no locks, wouldn't she try to protect her secret if she was hiding something like this from him? If she is streaming entire day in her studio without locks, he can go upstairs any time and catch her in the act, her secret is only protected by the trust she has in him, that he won't do it. That doesn't make sense to me. Bottom line is - if we are to believe OP, it's not even a question if she has some sort of PTSD and possibly some other mental illness. Just this fact can explain any weird and unusual behaviour. And as someone living with a spouse that is also very mentally ill, I can completely understand why he just got frustrated and left Reddit with a sense that everyone there is an unhelpful moron. "Just go upstairs" is a perfectly reasonable advice if she was perfectly healthy and for sure hiding something from him. But he knows her better than any random redditor and he knows he will cause a huge distress to her if he did that, perhaps even spoil that place to her in some way - if anyone can set foot on that floor, it no longer feels safe to her. The situation is very similar to a more common occurrence in PTSD, when someone locks themselves in a bathroom and the right response is to accept the reality that you no longer have a bathroom for a while. You sit by the door and try to help them calm down by talking with them, not tear out the doors and pull them by forces screaming in panic because you need to take a shit. He is putting her recovery before anything else and no one in that subreddit seems to understand that this is what you have to do, when you have a partner with mental illness. They think that access to the upstairs is the issue that OP is trying to solve, not the mental state of his soon-to-be wife. People didn't try to give advice on how to convince the girlfriend to allow him upstairs, they gave him advice on how fucking stairs work.

Today I learned that the term "brain washing" is a surprisingly misused word. I don't really understand why people lie about their professions in comments. Especially when they use terminology that nobody in that profession uses as part of their training.
