I agree, its a kids show. Theres no reason we cant have Goonies in space. Not everything Star Wars has to be about Luke or the Jedi or the fate of the universe. In fact, part of what i liked about the Mandolorian and Andor was seeing how the Star Wars universe works when the Jedi and the Sith arent around. If the writing is good, could be worth a watch. But of course as we know, asking for the writing to be good on a disney+ show is a big ask 😂

I agree that the trailer does nothing to make this show feel like Star Wars, but I feel like it will still be a fun show to watch. It’s definitely a fresh take on the Star Wars universe, and that’s what most of us want.

Could be fun, but it bothers me that the show doesn't have the proper Star Wars aesthetic. The world looks like retro-futuristic Earth, not Star Wars universe. Cars and buses driving on roads, American-style suburbs, Stranger Things kind of vibe. Everything feels a bit off. Like it doesn't belong in Star Wars. I like the idea of Star Wars exploring different genres - it can be a political drama, a comedy, an epic adventure, a kids show - that's fine. But IMO, every Star Wars project should at least keep the consistent aesthetic and feel like the part of the same universe. This feels more like Stranger Things or Guardians of the Galaxy.

I agree very much with our first paragraph, but not the second. Star Wars cannot be lots of different genres. It has it's own look and feel. A Star Wars comedy would be an absolute abomination. A Star Wars kids show like this looks lousy just from the trailer and isn't necessary. We all fell in love with Star Wars when we were kids!

@@jjc5407 Star Wars already proved it can work in different genres. A New Hope is an adventure movie about good and evil. Revenge of the Sith is an epic drama. Rogue One is an excellent war movie about rebellion. Rebels is a glight-hearted cartoon for children.

@@CinematicSeriesGaming the George Lucas Star Wars movies are all epic dramas/action movies. Rogue One is terribly overrated with a ridiculous central premise. Rebels was frankly shite. Just because it's been done doesn't make it good Star Wars. Every franchise has it's own look and feel and every time someone comes along and deviates from that core it loses a part of what makes it special and what makes it unique. Not understanding that is why much-loved franchises are losing their audience and why output is being mocked so badly.

@@jjc5407 these are your opinions though. i loved Rogue One and rebels, that is my opinion. i too also think SW can explore different genres, but i do think that the trailer doesn't feel like SW whereas Rogue One and Rebels did. either way we can all have different opinions, just because you didn't like something doesn't mean it is objectively bad (except for the acolyte- that was objectively bad due to so many factors and i don't feel like writing a novel and i really only enjoyed Quimir).

@@nah7656 sure we're all just expressing our opinions. I stand by mine that Star Wars, and other long-standing franchises, are failing and seeing audiences giving up on them because they are deviating from the core of what makes them what they are. Ultimately they all just become a homogenous mass with no distinctiveness. Every genre, every franchise has elements that make them recognisable and unique. Take those away or throw in a slew of new elements that don't belong and that is lost.

Surface level and first glance, this was a idea that came up in a “wouldn’t it be cool if …. Or what if we did this? “ conversation session… this is simply ET/goonies/Stranger Things set in the Star Wars universe. I feel like it’s almost like an else world story. Regardless it looks fun and as much as the 1980s theme and music, remove it from the Star Wars universe and ground it in ours, I still think it’ll be a fun romp…. as long as they don’t have any kind of agenda insertion that will become distracting… let’s see where this goes :-)

While I’m not majorly excited, I do feel this could be a step in the right direction. All admit it feels nothing like Star Wars and I have a major problem with the soundtrack using “actual songs” that being said, I’m glad Disney’s looking at the roots of what made the storytelling of Star Wars so successful. Like you mentioned Indiana Jones and goonies, these films managed to entertain a variety of ages. That’s something that always made Star Wars so magical, the problem Disney currently has is they’ve lost so much support and trust from the family demographic. If there’s no agendas being pushed in the show, it could help rebuild that trust!

I don't have a problem with them setting a story within the Star Wars universe, that isn't related to the galactic struggle. At least it is fleshing out the universe more in some way, and with a reported budget that is around $30-40million less than The Acolyte, the production quality looks way better. there were more ships here in one small shot, than we saw in the entire Coruscant skyline on that previous bomb. Will give it a go, and hope for entertaining show. Time will tell what it's actually like though.
