When you do another video on Rome, be sure to investigate La Chiesa di San Ignacio. This is the church that has a false duomo painted by the artist Andrea Pozzo. The perspective is astonishing! The nephew of the pope, Cardinale Ludovico Ludovisi, was in charge of this project--the first Jesuit church.

Rome has a special place in my heart. My wife and I spent 3 weeks touring Paris, Rome, Piza, Florence, and Venice ... after I proposed to her on the Eiffel Tower (yes, I did). That was 27 wonderful years ... and two kids ... ago.

I can say that Rome, from an artistic, historical, archaeological point of view, cannot be discussed, it has an infinite heritage of palaces, ruins, fountains, museums, squares, etc., it is no coincidence that unesco world heritage has put Rome in first place as a "city with more monuments in the world" But I can also recommend the modern side of rome,( if you don't interest the historic/artistic tourism) , which few people know, the city is not only the historic center, it has many things to offer in many impressive modern districts, nightlife, sea with night clubs (yes, Rome has the sea), cinecittà, various chinatowns, shopping malls, Japanese gardens, very large, the largest mosque in Europe (the mosque of Rome, to visit) and many other things, the city has a municipal extension of 1271 km2, about 10 times paris, so you can imagine what there is beyond the historic center if you are interested in the "nightlife" or in any case a tourism of another kind rather than an artistic / cultural one

I live in Rome, i ve traveled a lot, and i never seen a city as beautiful as rome, yes london, paris and florence are wonderful, but idk Rome is wonderful. There are a lot, and i mean REALLY A LOT of things to see. The center is really big, but Rome is sooo big and some zones are worth to see too as: pigneto, san lorenzo, Cinecittà, Ostia, EUR, Monteverde, appia antica, Testaccio, Coppedè, Fleming, Garbatella, San Giovanni, Ostia Antica, some sights in my zone (balduina) zodiaco, ciocci, socrate. Also brutalism for who likes it is present here, there are corviale, serpentara, porta maggiore, termini, laurentino 38, rome bronx. There are also a LOT of parks to see, like forest in the city (pineta sacchetti, martignano lake, parco di veio and parco dell'insugherata) or mainstream parks (parco degli acquedotti, villa pamphili, villa ada, villa borghese). Most of the times tourists only see the most famous places like colosseum, borgo pio, vatican, prati, parioli, ponte milvio, historic center (i always go there but there is also other too see). For the most curious there are also some "mountain zones" like montespaccato (there a lot of steep hills with the car passing, i mean like 30% steep), monte mario, castel giubileo, montesacro. And for see the other side of Rome: primavalle, tufello, centocelle, tuscolana, ponte marconi, rebibbia

People who say Rome is overrated or overcrowded are typically North American tourists who do Rome as a part of a "highlights" of Italy or Europe trip. They visit like Rome, Florence, Venice and the Amalfi coast all in about a week. This is NOT how to do it and you will ruin your trip if you try. More is not better. When you do Rome, do Rome. There is so much to see and do there, and I dont (only) mean the highlights like the Coloseum or the Vatican Musea. Its all about taking in the sights and sounds. Its about spending a few hours on a terrace drinking cocktails and just people watch. Its sipping an espresso while hanging on the bar of a local cafe amidst the buzz. Its about randomly wandering the streets and run in to all kind of beautiful things you werent even looking for. Its about buying nice stuff at a bakery and have a nice picnic in a park in the shade. Its about having an amazing plate of pasta and drink way to much of the cheap but good house wine. In my opinion, these are the REAL attractions of Rome. If you rush from place to place ticking boxes you will miss it all. Just spend the week in Rome, you wont regret it, and once you do, you have REALLY been there. Visit the hidden gems like the Protestant Cemetary, where Keats and Shelley are buried, and Ostia Antica and wonder through an ancient Roman city. No lines, no crowds and a great escape from the city noise and heat. Standing in line with other tourists is never fun, not even in Rome. Some things are worth it, sure, just dont make that experience what your trip is all about.
