Thank you for taking us along on a private family event. Congrats to your daughter. The pics of them marching in the gym took me back to when my son graduated from the Coast Guard boot camp in Cape May, N.J. I was busting my bubbles with pride at that time. He spent 11 years active duty before he got out. I took buttons from his dress uniform and made myself a bracelet and earrings. I have them to this day - 20 years later.

Congrats Madison. I my self reported to RTC Great Lakes on June 19th, 1995 and spent 15+ years as a AME on NAS Whidbey Island, Washington. Best adventure of my life.

I do enjoy your videos. Watching your daughter graduate from basic training took me back to October of 1961 when I graduated basic training at Great Lakes. I enjoyed a six year adventure (sometimes scary) in the Navy and the life lessons learned in those six years have served me well my entire life. Your daughter is in for a great adventure that will serve her well in her life. Semper Fortis.

It was cool to see the two of you passing through my old stomping grounds. I grew up in Lexington, Ky. I lived for a while in Florence Ky, and commuted to work in the northern Cincinnati area, passing daily down Death Hill and over the Brent Spence (Bent Spent) bridge into Cinci. I also lived in Louisville, Ky, but never visited or even heard of Rose Island. I now live in the northern suburbs of Detroit, and miss the rolling hills and rural atmosphere of my youth. Much love and respect to Madison. Thank you your service.

Have you been to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan yet ? If you haven’t you should really camp up here es right on Lake Superior the views are magestic, beautiful and the camping is easy laid back. My favorite time to camp up here is in the winter. Yes I know you might think this would be the worst time but it’s absolutely peaceful. You make it fun by having the things you need warmth and shelter. And no you do not need a hot stove. You can make one yourself with a few coffee cans. Us yoopers know a lot of ways to make camp stoves. I usually make ones out of big cans and pile up a lot of hardwood for slow burning

Everyone coming to visit their son or daughter is happy as hell, but pretty much everyone in that formation is just hoping their RDCs did not notice that once thing they did wrong. That base looks waaaaay different than I remember it. I was plowing through a foot or two of snow and could barely see anything most of the time. I remember just being happy to sit down for a while after it was all over with.
