Great overnight adventure, definitely with the coyotes "laughing" all over the forest. If i was there in your place... i think my hearth would have pump up a lil bit at that point. been rocking your videos today , this one was a lot of fun . I love stealth camping , and the lay out you used is first class , I like using cheap sleeping bags and make the warmer by putting a water proof cover , and two bed sheets inside the bag they hold your body heat better . i do it this way because I have had to stealth camp before and i was always low on bucks and had to go with what ever i could get my hands on , using stuff like leaf bags to stay dry lol , so after that i started doing some very strange load outs in an old over night bag made into a back pack lol , some did not work out so well , but others worked out really good , fun stuff to play with and learn the important's of thinking on the fly . You just stirred a thought...I wonder if dog whistles would alert wildlife of your presence without humans detecting? There is an Ap, I believe, that generates a dog whistle from your phone. Bells are not a good idea for Stealth, but perhaps that would be a good alternative. Love the channel, bro.

Hey Luke, when I was a youngster I would do this exact thing, sneak around the woods and just explore. I use to run off into the wild every chance I got, the thing is I never once worried about ticks. That was in the early 2000’s so I guess something changed, because you may have heard about someone getting a tick, but that was very rare. Now I can take a leak near the tree line with out getting a tick on my clothes. I live north of WV about an hour from Morgan town in PA. It’s a real shame because I don’t like letting my daughter play in the woods, Lyme disease is a real threat, my wife got it and she’s a total house cat, be well my friend Jon

Another great vid Luke! It doesn't get much better than stealth camping. That's about the only way I can get out in the woods here in Eastern North Carolina. Unless I wanna go to a "campsite" which is not my idea of camping. My daughter and I usually go to Uwharrie when we wanna do an all weekend camp-out. That's prob close to where you're located. I have always been taught that you should NOT heat your food directly in the can. Unless the can is made out of steel. It have been proved that some brands of cans can leak metal into the food if heated. Just wanted to tell you. Love your videos and stay safe. :)

I own a Photography studio north of Chicago and contractual obligations often preclude my ability to get away for any meaningful back country excursions. Stealth camping in local forest preserves for a night or two is what I most frequently do for my sanity. I simply use satellite view on my smart phone to locate water sources and avoid housing & commercial development. While I dislike hiking when the temps are above 70...I'm heading out in about an hour for a one-nighter.

Love your videos bro. You know how to make the people watching your video feel like we are actually right there with you on your adventure. That is pretty hard to do, but you pull it off as natural as can be. I did want to just give you my personal opinion on the soup you heated up. Campbell's Chunky is awesome soup, but Progresso soups are just so much better. They are the same price, but have more actual meats, veggies, potatoes, etc. and are just more heartier meals for the money and the flavor is a lot more rich and full. Give one of your favorite soups a try with the Progresso brand and you be the judge. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised. Thanks again for the videos you make and post. I found your videos while cruising KZbin using Roku on my TV. At first I found your style kind of annoying and excessively "perky" but after looking at other videos it became clear that you are doing a first rate job of conveying both information and excitement about the outdoors and the adventures. I'm still not sure I'd like to hike & camp with you if you really are this chatty when the camera is off but - I'm hooked! Your enthusiasm has me thinking about getting back out there again. Haven't been able to for many reasons which have lasted years now but I sure have a lot to think about. BTW- I figured out where you passed thru on your way to this camp spot. I don't know where you camped but some of the views you shared are pretty unique. (Google Earth is not your friend!) I too have the question about whether you are concerned with being captured on a trail cam. And finally, walking out in the open in the cleared areas while hoping to remain undetected probably isn't the best technique. And your clothing choice appears to be more oriented toward detecting ticks than being undetected (white pants). But in the final analysis - you're out there DOING IT ! (while I'm sitting on my butt wishing I were out there doing it) Rock on!

I've got tablets, drops, steripen but no filters. In my area the water we have doesn't really call for that sort of care. Most that I know that carry the Katadyn end up selling them. I have one friend who threw his away. It takes too much work. It's heavy (especially when wet).

Awesome video. I've never tried stealth camping looks like fun and where you are a heck of a lot of exercise. Here where I live the biggest problem with coyote's is the have been known to take pet's and you need to be careful with small children. When we were kids we tried some heated dog food, not bad but when we looked at the ingredients well... Thanks for sharing your experience's.

For your pots to clean up really easily a day ahead of leaving for a trip, lightly coat the bottom and lowest sides of the pot with Dawn soap, and let it dry.. Just be careful handling the pot in case some soap gets on the fingers while cooking to avoid digestive problems from soap I'm the food. I take my Farberware out when camping that way. And use baking soda to clean it off. Also appreciate the videography and reviews. Make you a hobo pot out of a tin can with the inside of the can's plastic lining burnt out. Keep a part of the lid still attached, but curl the lid so a stick can be inserted to hand the soup over a fire.. Pour your soup into that and warm it up. Otherwise you are getting PFAS chemical into your gut. Not a good thing, though likely most of us already have some there. Can cause Parkinsons with some.

I love how the southern woods and mountains have such a different feel than their northern cousins. I wonder if those were red wolves instead of coyotes !? I sometimes watch a cam from a wolf center in NY. The red wolves have a very unique howl. ? In August they wood have busy yappy youngsters in tow. 🤔

Also wanted to say that the marpat field tarp looks awesome! Been shopping around for one, but can't find a brand new 1 at a decent price. Don't trust ordering a used one. Prob order one straight from ORC, Industries eventually. Just seems to be a more durable tarp than what I currently have. Also, that bivy is a great bit of kit. I have the woodland MSS and it's prob 1 of the best purchases I've made thus far. Can't go wrong with Military gear for the most part. Thanks again/great vids! Mike

if you have to have a fire while stealth camping use the dekoda fire hole. there is lots of videos on how to make one. you still have some smoke but you can have a fire that is not seen from far away and you can leave no trace that there was a fire there.

Hey Luke I know that you love your country style baked beans ( In Germany you only get the baked beans with tomato sauce :-( ), but it's not healthy to heat up the tin cans directly on a fire. The inner surface of most modern tin cans is lined with a plastic coating.

Hey there Dennis, how are you brother? Beans with Tomato Sauce.....how is that? In regards to heating up tin cans, this is how I look at it; In the United States most can are made of steel while beverage cans are usually made out of aluminum. Chromium and nickel can find their way out of steel, but the amounts will be almost nothing. Aluminum is completely different though as it has been linked to nervous system disorders and other health problems. Concerning the liner of the can; some companies are moving to baked-on, BPA-free enamel lining derived from plant oils and resins. Does that make it safer; well no one knows for sure. Heating food in the can is a common practice with campers, hikers and bushcrafters and I have never heard of any issues personally. Long term...who knows. When I do it, I heat it slowly and make sure not to burn the liner and the contents. For anyone that is concerned about this, use a pot. ;)

TheOutdoorGearReview Thanks for your reply Luke. I think the baked beans you can get here are british style baked beans. They taste ok but the next days I'll try to mix my beans here with some BBQ sauce finding out how your country style beans taste. Back to the tin cans. The food tin cans here in Germany have all coating (with or without bpa, I don't know) and so I think I'll take a pot to eat them. :-) You can try to heat them slowly on a fire but I don't want something of the coating in my food. When you take a look on the flame of a candle, there are temperatures of 600 to 1200 °C ( 1112 °F to 2192 °F). I think one good way to heat them up is to put the tin can in a water filled cook pot and then on the fire.
