I got soaked (everything got soaked) once when I was forced to switch campgrounds during a severe weather system that lasted for hours. I went to Walmart and bought a 12X24’ tarp. From then on I tarped my tent all the way around. I used long sticks and bungie cords. I was always bone dry. I mostly camped in state parks solo with my dog. My tent is a Coleman Instant Tent. I alway have a double high queen bed, a chair with a side table and a porta potty in there. I was always very comfortable.

Hi Luke, about a year ago we decided to invest in a newer up to date tent and bought out firsts DoD tent and retired the old one. After getting set up and later turning in radar indicated light rain and since we were in the new tent, we were not worried about waking up wet again. By 4:30am we woke up to all our blankets and clothes being soaked and couldn't for the life understand why. Later that same morning we took a closer look and found not 1. not 2. but 3 spots where it had leaked in. One by the door, the 2nd below the center of the dome. And the third closer to the lower lefthand side Basically, we were soaked and had to retreat to the comforts of the truck bed the following night since the tent didn't do its job. Since then, we went back to using the old tent from Colman with No problems after buying a can of rain guard. The place that we purchased the DoD tent refused to refund our money, so we decided to stay clear of their products ever since.

Hi Luke. I'm a hammock camper now, but I have slept in lots of leaky tents. My advice for anyone stuck in a wet tent is to protect your sleeping bag at any cost. Even if you have to pack it in its stuff sack and sit the weather out in your raincoat. Do not roll over and go back to sleep. When you get home, you can use the tent for backyard fun. It may sound crazy but if your bathtub tent floor is really a tub full of water, drive an extra tent stake into the ground right through that expensive floor. Wiggle it around a bit and the water will drain into the ground as long as you are not camped in a depression where water is pooling. Maybe it's just me, but I think tent floors are highly overrated except for discouraging bugs.
@keonisan Жыл бұрын
Just have a tarp over the tent and you're good to go. I understand why he does these videos but I would never trust a tent to be 100 percent waterproof. Hang a tarp over the tent and you'll never had to worry about it leaking.

Thanks again for a thorough review Luke, this tent is a definite ‘Do Not Buy’ in it’s current form. As for that woman who blamed her kids’ bad behavior on your video, these ‘Non-Parents’ are very common, blaming their children’s lack of discipline on anybody but themselves. You see them in WalMart letting their kids run around knocking stuff off shelves till they fall and hit their head on something, then they sue WalMart for not putting wild animal bumpers on everything. Keep the vids commin’!!

😂😂i discipline my son everyday they ain't gonna change overnight. he was a horror show today. Maybe it's time to grow up and stop thinking that people don't discipline their kids just because they act bad😂 just like you say about these non-parents... Don't speak on something you've never been through. 😂 Don't you think you should take your own advice? I discipline my son every single day. And he's just getting worse. Some kids are more stubborn be thankful that your kids weren't. By the way if you do discipline your kids or teach them a certain way it's up to the kids to keep that or change to what they want to do.

Not, not, not a walk of shame. It’s called a series of excellent decisions, to buy and place the “cabin”, on your own nice acreage, a place easy to get to in your truck, a place to enjoy whatever weather, waiting and watching in warm, dry comfort. Thanks for the twice done demonstration of the DoD tepee. Will look elsewhere for my tepee tent. I don’t need a leaky tent, period. Luke you talking about being out in a storm. About 15 years ago I had put my boat in the water the sky’s looked menacing. Big black and grey clouds rolling in the sky’s. I got just out of the river when the sky’s opened up! Lightning, thunder piles of rain. I had put all the storm canopies on just before the sky’s opened up. It rained so hard there was a sheet of water running off my boat an inch or more. I was just Idling. Driving by my GPS. The rain lasted about two hours. Rest of the day was fantastic.

I love that whirring sound of the wind. We don't get much of it here where I live in suburbia. But, on the occasions we do get any decent winter wind, I can set up some interesting harmonics as it blow through and around the meter pipe awning frame on the front of my house. And, if I don't have my windows clamped down tightly and locked, I can get some neat moans and whistles there too. But, my most favorite of wind sounds is the whirring sound at the beginning of the video. Simple pleasures.

Good morning from Montana. Are you going to be doing a review on the cooking pans you use in this video. I’ve seen them in your vids but haven’t found a review yet. Thanks for all you do!

With that introduction, IF this tent does it's job, huge win for the Company.. Great advertisement for Everything you use really Like, the Tundra, The Enclosed Trailer which is the " Nuts " ,, lol.

If your cabin trailer is to be semi permanent, I would either remove your wheels and store them ( a security measure against theft) and put the trailer on blocks. Alternatively, at least protect the tires from sun rot and cracking. Since you are located at the top of a mountain with little protection from wind, I would consider anchoring the trailer with cable. Use anchor posts or concrete blocks buried in the ground. You could anchor just the frame or go over the roof of the trailer with a 2x4 to protect it from the cable. I doubt the trailer body would survive hurricane strength winds in any case.

Just curious, Luke. What three things (coffees?) do you put in your coffee. I’m interested in trying the combination. Good video. You and Suzy always do a good honest job. Thanks 🙏.

Same here! I know the first packet was Nescafé but couldn’t catch the next two. 🤷🏻♀️

Why not put a couple cameras in the tent to see what's happening.
