Haven’t camped in about 10 years due to work, and depression. But stopped drinking almost a year ago and now I’m ready to camp again, spent A lot of money on new camping gear, and the first weekend Im going out, its gonna rain… Guess it will be a good test of the new stuff. I got the big Agnes black tail hotel 3 backpacking tent so lets hope it doesnt leak!

@Ian.. thanks, I just laugh at my luck sometimes. It’s gonna be 70 and sunny till Saturday, then on Sunday, the day I’m leaving, its gonna be 62 and raining. Riding 70 miles to get to the camp site on my bicycle. Would’ve been nice to catch some of this good weather we’re getting on the oregon coast.

Love that you go out in storms. Love to listen to them and watch the lightning. Idk what was making the noise on the way in, if you were doing an asmr thing re the gravel or if it was your backpack but gosh it was annoying. Really appreciated you mentioning the washes. I couldn’t pick one to save my life, so if you could go into really obvious detail that would be great. My father would just dig a big old ditch around the tent to direct the water away. Not sure if it’s a good or bad idea but he did it most every time (despite the fact we live where there’s not a whole lot of rain)

Spent a week on the Benton-MacKaye trail in the GSM back in 2019. It rained and thunderstormed the entire hike with plenty of close call lightning strikes and a lot of trails turning into class one rapids. My 20 year old very used Coleman dome tent had two very small, very manageable leaks the whole trip. My camp mates didn't fare as well with their newly bought mid-end tents. I had a great trip as long as I was dry at the end of the day....thanks to Coleman and an old poncho left over from my military days!

The audio did indeed picked up the sound of the wings and the bird sounded BIG! The heliport base my husband used to fly to the Gulf of Mexico for an oil company would often have eagles flying around it and sometimes, they would be on the ground on the heliport. Mike said they're huge birds! They got to see them up close. He would also see coyotes, who would be skulking around the helipads. Oh, and lots of rabbits. Both the Eagles and the coyotes, would hunt the rabbits. In the mornings the pilot would have to go out to the helipad and make sure it was clear of critters. Be careful, now, that could be a Pteradactyl! I went and watched some of Vee's videos. You were right--He's really cool.
