Your story about your daughter is pretty moving for me. I'm only 18 but last year I left an abusive household, became homeless for a couple weeks, found and moved in with my dad, got therapy and am now planning to walk the perimeter of the UK in march. I've got a tent and everything. Before this year, I never pushed myself. I felt like I was sleepwalking through my life and had no personal autonomy. Now I know that I am a blank canvas and can do anything I put my mind to. The world needs more dads like mine and you. Kids need to learn to push themselves, walking consciously through life and making decisions for themselves. Thanks for that story of your daughter and I hope you enjoyed mine 🙂

at some level, you need to heal with out the persistence of the trauma that caused it. at another level, you will learn that monsters are made, they are not born. that will help you find the compassion to the those who hurt you. but you won't find that until you have found kindness for yourself first.

@@chrisruthford4492 How about if you live somewhere with more strict gun laws? For example it's nearly impossible to get a carry permit in Finland even if you are one of the few who shoot as a hobby... unless you want to carry a rifle or a shotgun around if you hunt, even then it could be trouble if you carry it in some national forest. Luckily we don't have any big predator animals here besides bears and wolves which really aren't a problem. I wonder what I should do if I ever wanted to travel to US and hike in cougar territory for example...
@chrisruthford4492
@chrisruthford4492 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheLazyFinn I built a walking stick that was a sword also. Used to carry it in National Parks here in the US. Better than nothing. In the wilderness I'm not really worried about the Animals it's more the two legged predators that are dangerous. A whole bunch of people go missing in US National Forests and Parks every year, with no answers. Be careful out there.

I'm with you brother. 10+ years of airborne infantry from the jungle to the desert to arctic "hiking and camping" my body these days can't handle it. Now at 62, if I were part of Luke's hike in this video, I would be operating the enclosed 8x8 tracked Argo with trailer or ahkio snow sled with the camp supplies a couple of miles behind him. Or on a separate route to link up when he got there.

Hey Luke. I'm living vicariously through your adventures so thanks for sharing them with us. A humble little tip for you and your followers if you want when heating water in cold weather... only fill your cup about a quarter of the water at first. That will come to a boil about 50+% faster than a full cup. Then, when it is really hot and you add the rest of the water, it will come to a boil a lot faster than if you had all cold water. :-)

My 22year old son is home with us this Christmas! He was deployed in the Middle East for over a year. My late husband and I raised him to know that if you want something then you need to work for it and not expect it to be handed to you. When he was 17 I had to sign paperwork to allow him to enlist. I tell you that was my most scared and most proud day! Thank your daughter for her service and God bless!

Your daughter’s positive comment of her military career is exactly what my grandson told his dad! He is in Security Forces in Air Force. Loved his job, his officers and all the good friends he’s made. He says they are a team and best friends. His uncle just retired after 26 years as a Special Agent in OSI. Our whole family is military. It’s not an easy life but certainly does build character and discipline. Wish more of today’s youth would serve. 🇺🇸✝️ Love your videos!

Great video using the tarp as many tarps normally might be configured: despite having plenty of tie outs and mounting options, the tarp was used in a way to simplistic hammock tarps with only a few tie outs. Dear Luke. I am a German (originally from Sweden) who now is living in Switzerland. I absolutely like your videos. I like you, and I like what and how you are doing the things. You are an honest, upright and very clear and stuctured man, and so are your videos. I myself and for me I do absolutely not like hiking, camping and other outdoor things, but I like watching you, and how you master so many things so well! 👍👍👍 But one little thing does absolutely not fit to neither you, nor what you are doing, or what your videos express. That is the music, you are using during the last weeks, resp. months. Your videos are clear, honest and positive. The music you are using is sad, negative and depressing. This music does fit to movies, in which a girl has cancer and dies at the end of the movie, or to a chinese movie, in which hundrets of Chinese soldiers have been killed and at the end of the movie the camera flies slowly over this battle field filled up with so many dead soldiers. Please, Luke, try to find back to the music, that fits to you, and what really good and positive things you are doing in your movies. Thank you very much... and Merry Christmas!

The ultimate compliment to a parent, "Thank you for pushing me, I love my life." Reminds me of my daughter. After graduating from high school, she had the opportunity to play basketball for a college under a scholarship. She said, "Dad, I want to go in the Marine Corps, like you. It's hard, but that's what I want to do. I know the pride you feel. She would not trade anything for the experience. Should have brought two Curry and Shrimp....after heating .....strap one on each foot. I don't know how y'all handle that kind of cold. I just came in from checking the charger on my boat. It is 37 degrees and I ran back in the house. :) Beautiful music by the way. Thank you for what you do.

No military experience here, a simple timber cruiser. The extra footwork for the path untrod footage is mind blowing!

1. The hike in the snow was worth all the effort. 2. What were the ponies doing on the mountain? They were "horsing around"! 3. You have a nice Christmas, too!😀

:: Gear List :: After receiving countless messages from viewers about supporting the channel through Amazon, I have begun using Amazon Affiliate links in the Adventure Videos and if you choose to purchase one of these products via these links I will receive a small commission which will help fund future honest reviews and adventures. The channel remains as it always was, 100% Agenda Free with no sponsored videos, no paid reviews, and I don't care if you purchase these products or not; you won't find affiliate links in review videos only in adventures. I'm going to do my best to put gear lists into all of my videos since everyone is asking for them all the time. For this trip, here are the big items that I used.
