Why did they design it with a proprietary battery?.... They should have made it compatible with any generic USB connector battery bank

MuvoTX Probably pulls more power than can be provided by the average USB battery bank (only about 5 watts).

A while ago i bought a Lenz Heated west. It also come with a proprietary battery of only 1200/1800 mAh. These batteries drained in only 1.5 hours on the "high" setting and maybe 2-3 hours on "medium" setting... I didnt like that at all and the batteries cost ALOT ($80 for 1200 mAh) BUT what i did was to just solder a USB cable into the jacket and now i can connect it via USB to powerbanks (i have different powerbanks with power outputs up to 18W!!) so now i use a simple 13000 mAh battery with approx 12 watt output ((2,4 amps on 5V)) and it is warmer than when using the original batteries that had an output of around 10 watts on high.
@turbosnorpen5 жыл бұрын
@@daqq most modern powerbanks can output 18w today! :) its way more than these heated clothes is built for, i think the bigger jackets and such usually draws around 18-20 watts on the HIGH setting
@daqq5 жыл бұрын
Adam Nilsson While true, this isn’t the standard. Most still only output a maximum of 5w. PD power banks would likely work, but a manufacturer isn’t going to rely on that rather than produce a battery that they know is compatible.

Hi, I bought a generic heated jacket from amazon for like $90 bucks a year ago, it worked and was warm for a few months... Then I found out that nearly all heated jackets come with no warranty on amazon and a lot of people complained about it on the reviews. Just wondering if your Ororo heated jackets still work and warm like before.

Long informative comment* I work on cellphone towers, year round in Utah. I know layers, for rain, snow, strong winds, day and night. With that said, shedding layers on the tower, is hard to do (safely). And climbing, with 10-30lbs of gear/tools. Well, you work up a sweat. And hanging in place for long period of time, gets very cold. So a jacket (one piece) that is “naturally” resistant to the elements, is ideal. Plus an on and off heating element👌🏼. I like the hood. Looks like it would fit over my hard hat. The battery is one of the slimmest I’ve seen, compared to Milwaukee, De Walt, Bosch, etc. For the price and what’s all included, it beats the competitors 👆🏼. With the storage location, in the front. Seem like it’d be out of my way. It’s a given, batteries and cold don’t mix. But I’m assuming, adding a hot hands next to the battery, would help. Looks like a good jacket for me. But I feel like the mobility, might not all be there. Thank you, for the cons, pros, and application for environments! Nicely done!

This video is the answer to my prayers! For years I've avoided the cinema due to the sub-zero conditions. Unfortunately because it's so cold I'm not sure the battery will last a full movie.

Thank you both for the honest review. Many seem like paid promotions, which had me weary of purchasing one. On the subject of TSA... I took my family to Florida two years ago. We put our items in the bins. They went through the xray machine. By the time we walk through the metal detector, my daughters phone was gone. I knew exactly where it was. There was no misplacement. I made a huge scene and thought I was going to get arrested. One of the head TSA agents found it for me. The TSA agent working the xray machine had stolen it. Thank you President Bush. War wasn't enough for the democrats. They had to control us to the point where we despise airports.

The one thing I couldn't live with is if the battery dies after a year or two, or if the heating elements break for some reason. Do you still have your jackets? Do they still work? #1- No manual voltage regulator to control the amount of heat? #2 Redesign of the heating elements is what I recommend. The elements should follow the artery lines of the human physique. #3 battery should be relocated to an exterior pocket for safety. If battery overloads or shorts or explodes shielding to protect the wearer should be implemented. How fire proof is this jacket?

This jacket works amazing if you’re somebody whose chest gets cold . If you’re not , you won’t like it . Also , that’s one of the slimmest battery’s on the market , you really can’t make a slimmer one than that when you’re powering a heat element . You can buy extra batteries on eBay or Amazon as well .
@damianramey56013 жыл бұрын
I've noticed that these companies seem to put a connector on the jacket that requires you to purchase their battery pack. If it had a standard USB connector for the battery, you could plug it up to your cigarette lighter in your car or your motorcycle's power source ultimately saving you more power on your battery when you leave the vehicle. Very frustrating.

Not only does the battery not last but it takes forever to charge
@nvd2ceb45 жыл бұрын
I have the vest and I will admit the battery is very uncomfortable. It has a little weight to it so it weighs down on one side. It doesn't stay charged long if it's on high. In the past few days where the weather was in the negatives I sat with this on in my home, lol and the battery drains quick on high. Low & medium still doesn't last as long either. I've had this since my birthday which was in January but I've charged this battery about five times within two and a half weeks. It also takes a long time for the battery to charge. I didn't buy this. It was given to me for my b-day. For what I've used it for I do like it. I'm not an outdoors type person so it's kept me warm when I needed it to.

Hope you contact ORORO about your jacket issues. I just received my Men's Jacket and my daughter's Women's Jacket. The Men's Jacket came with their 2019 Battery which is soft feel, rounded corners smaller in size. It also came with a short pigtail that locks into the battery tighter and the jacket tighter so it doesn't power down by bumping the battery. HOWEVER The hood is still oversized but not as bad, I think it's the material making it stand up.

That hood may be made to pull up over a climbing helmet. I bought a camo hunting jacket 8 years ago and she is still going strong. My heated parka has two battery packs and would say that both batteries combined would be smaller than one for your jacket. The battery storage compartments for the jacket are will up above your belt line. My jacket has three setting and will keep me very comfortable on the low setting for just over 6 hours. I use it for deer hunting in southern Ohio where the temps can range from the teens to 30's during deer season. I have worn it in below zero weather sitting in a ground blind as well so it has been put to the test. My jacket/parka is made by Columbia and it's called the Thermal-Electric Omni Heat model.

Men's Model is 6'2" and wearing a size Medium Women's Model is 5'10" and wearing a size Small. I'll stick with Columbia & Spyder since they come in much nicer BRIGHTER colors than just black and all the extra adjustments to keep out the wind/weather.

Heated jacket started with building site tool manufacturers targeting that market with Milwaukee and Bosch being the first to introduce them. The hoods are like that so it will go over a hard hat. I can only guess this manufacturer has taken parts of the design from them they may even be made in the same factory. But I think that's why the hood is like that on the males jacket.

I primarily use mine as a layer while riding my motorcycle during winter months. But it’s so comfortable that I do wear it casually as well. Mine has 2 much smaller batteries. A 6 hour and an 8 hour. I don’t get those hours either but at least I have a second battery.

I jumped at the opportunity to purchase an ORORO heated vest for use at winter outdoor sporting events. While I like the product, battery life was a huge disappointment. In low to mid 40 degree temps the battery lasted slightly over two hours. In order to maximize the use of this product I am considering acquiring an additional battery to carry with me.
@tatsumakisempyukaku2 жыл бұрын
1: who’s wearing a thin jacket like that in 20 degrees!? - I think you wear that under a larger sized jacket, that way, A: the battery isn’t dierectly exposed to cold, so it perhaps performs better, and B: you’re layering clothing for warmth, which is what people do anyways For example my wife puts on a jacket like that, which is like a fall jacket, then a thicker winter jacket over it. She’s better doing that than just the winter jacket alone. Now imagine the thinner jacket has a heating element. I think a winter jacket over that would also trap the heat being generated instead of it dissipating to the cold 20 degree winds. 2: can the hood be replaced by another hood? If it can be detached bc of a zipper, then maybe you can swap hoods? Idk. 3: can’t you buy a better battery and swap the battery. Say you get a battery that just stores more milli amps. 4: Which jacket has all the modifications I mentioned?
@steves2241 Жыл бұрын
I have the current version of this jacket in the mens 3xl. And I do not like it, at best I got 2 hours from the battery on high at 30 degrees. It does get warm, but not as warm as I would like. There are not enough heating coils, it has one in the back, and two in the upper right and left chest area. I feel the one in the back a little, but I barely feel the two in the front, it needs two more in the lower front behind the pockets, and two in the sides, and one more in the lower back. At 30 degrees you can barely feel the heat from the coils in the back, you can not feel the heat from the 2 in the front, unless you push them against your chest to feel the heat from them. The jacket just does not get hot enough, and it does not have nearly enough heating coils. And the hood is way too big. I also think the jacket is a little short, it needs to be about 4 inches longer. And there needs to be stretch material at the end of the sleeves so wind does not blow up your arms. I paid $140 for it on Ebay, so it was not $199, as they said in this video. Another problem I have is the cost to get a 2nd battery, they are $70, which is way too high, they should be $50, or less. I got the jacket, the battery, and the charger for $140, so $70 just for a 2nd battery is ridiculous. I would not tell my friends to get one, they do not work good enough. And this was advertised at the best one you can get. I would never buy another one, unless they change quite a few things, and add way more heating coils. If you wear it in 0 degree weather you can not even tell the heat is working, because it does not get hot enough. It's more like a jacket to wear when you need to go to Kroger when it is about 30 degrees out. In the real cold weather, it barely does anything, I had it on today when I went to Walmart in 30 degree weather, and I could barely feel the heat in the back, I could not feel any heat in the front.
@StrappedUpNick2 жыл бұрын
I knew the cold would be bad for the battery that’s why I got a hoodie so I could just throw on a coat over it and it also acts as a insulator
@cybrarian96 жыл бұрын
One thing you didn't mention is the weight of the battery and therefore the entire wait of the jacket. Since the battery is in your lower left hip area, if someone were to be running or jumping or some other athletic activity, my guess is that the battery will be giggling around and bouncing up and down making it even less comfortable for daily activities.
