Fun fact... "Soto" In Japanese Translates to "Outside" in English. Simple and straight to the point. Gotta love it!

That's the system I use. The coffee cup I've been using every day in the house for my coffee or my tea for several years now no issues whatsoever. I love the fact that I don't have to build a cozy the perfect sized cozy comes with it.... who does that I mean it's awesome. My Soto stove fits into what I call the coffee cup. It is simply another Soto magic bit of wonderfulness 😀😃👍🏽👍🏽

Greetings Luke. after watching your review last week I ordered the Soto Amicus Stove with the new New River Pot Combo + Amicus stove w Igniter. It all came today. The New River Pot holds1000 ML /33.8 oz. weighs 118 g./4.16 oz. is made of Aluminum and comes with a clear lid w silicon top and mesh bag. The GOOD THING is that the Soto Thermostack Cook Set Combo WILL NEST RIGHT INSIDE THE NEW RIVER POT and I have the stove, fuel canister, microfiber towel, sponge for cleaning and a back up Mini Bic all nestled together. It arrived, I unboxed it, washed everything and went Out Back to make lunch! Perfect AS Perfect as can be. now I need to order the Navigator Cook Set! Thanks for a Honest review that I could rely. Respectfully, StrongBear

I have been using this cook set for my solo backpacking trips and I love it. But one thing, you need to be very careful using the lifter to lift the 750 ml pot. The lifter is a bit small to lift the large pot, and you need to use some extra force to grab it very tight, or the pot may fall. It happens to me a few times - with my cooked food in it... so be very careful.

He mentioned the handle wasn't great, and after this comment makes you really wonder about spending 70 buck's on this kit when I've bought several of the stanley cook pot with two coffee cups inside for 10 Buck's and the handle is built on the cup.

@@rowdybroomstick1216 Yeah as for budget it doesnt get any better than that kit. There's the classic bushcrafter 1L bottle +nestling 750 ml pot/cup. This is more than both, it's the ultimate 1P backpacking cookset. For a 290g kit, considering all that's included, the fact that it nestles perfectly with a stove and gas canister, plus Japanese quality - it is... Premium, but unrivaled

I bought my set after noticing it in your videos a couple of months back. By the way, I added Hot Lips silicone lip protectors to the kit. This way, I can drink soup/coffee without the lid on -- I like to see into the cup, and not have the lid hide a wave of hot angry magma. I like my lips just as they are, with no burns, thankyouverymuch. :)

I also have this set and I THINK the 750ml pot is actually made of aluminium. Which would explain why the larger and smaller pots have volume markings, whereas they left them out on the [harder and more difficult to work] titanium middle pot.

Also makes sense as Titanium doesn't transfer heat as effectively as aluminum, making it faster to cool down and better to hold in your hands.

Love my thermostack and windmaster combo. All nests very neatly and compact. You can also wrap several paper towels or a rag around the outside of the 400 ml pot before nesting it inside the 750. And, on top of having the towels, it'll keep it from rattling.
@DWRose-209

To make the Soto set better, I added two free neoprene cozies. A thin one to the stainless steel cup and a heavier one to the titanium cup. The thin one insulates the stainless and still nests into the titanium. The two cozies combined makes the nested cups super insulated and holds heats like crazy.

I own this kit. The outer pot is awesome and the cozy is definitely one of the better ones if you don't want to go the DIY route. Also, i love that the net extends to store the fuel canister on top of the pot. But the inner thermal mug is kind of gimmicky. 350ml is a little to small for a big cup of tea/coffee, and with 154g it is kinda heavy for the small volume. I suggest buying only the outer pot with the cozy (called the Soto ThermoLite) and add a GSI Infinity Backpacker Mug. The Mug is lighter while having a bigger Volume. It´s also much cheaper and it too nests inside the outer pot. The only downside is that you can´t cook in your GSI Mug. That the nice thing about the Soto. If your outer "big" pot is dirty or greasy from your food, you can use the outer small pot of the thermal mug to cook clean tea/Coffee water.

I just discovered the Thermostack and added it to my gear. It's form factor is excellent and even lets me take it in a haversack. I did add a Toaks lid for the large pot and of course my Pocket Rocket Deluxe. Super pleased with this set-up! 👍

Luke says it all and I agree. For the common food rehydrating backpacker, this is THE set to get. Only think missing is a coffee drip filter, but you could use a reusable tea bag with a coarse coffee grind. Full cookset, if paired with some chopsticks or a long spork. Can't get better for backpacking, especially if you're going with Gas stoves. Stanley adventure for budget, MSR windbreaker for mid budget and this set as THE holy grail of gas-stove-focused sets.

As always. A great review…That said. I prefer to use the Stanley Version. It features a fold down locking handle and two plastic cups. And there’s enough room on the inside for my Tiny-stove. This is enough for me. And I will carry only one 230g fuel canister. And for a whole lot less money.

Just had a look at the "Stanley Adventure Camp Cook Set" and that's what I'm talking about, good price and nice and simple. The Soto set looks great but it would cost me over $100 and the Stanley kit is only about $30 (I'm Canadian so that usually means price gouging) haha

Thank you, Luke! Your review resolved an issue I have with stove and pot/s issue. The light weight and design are awesome. Obviously, Soto's management and/or R&D department are backpackers and listen to their customers. Seventy bucks is well worth it. That pot grabber can be replaced by a spring loaded one as they are pretty much a universal size. The only other item I would add would be the "hot lips" gadget for protection from lip burn.

Thanks for the review, it's always good to see your take on things. I have the Thermostack set, and I think it's a good set, but like most things nothing is perfect. Having used the thermostack for a while I got fed up of the little pot grabber. As someone who has lot's of different pots and pans I tried out a different combo with the thermostack. It will sound extravagent but I've swapped out the outer pot for a Toaks 750ml Titanium and the Cup for a 400ml Alpkit Titanium mug, and kept the inner steel to create the twin wall mug, plus sip lids. It all fits together perfectly inside the Soto Cosy. This has the advantage of handles on both pots, plus the Toaks has a bail arm which gives you more options around camp. I would show this in action but I no longer post videos of my activities, I prefer to leave it to someone as good as yourself, and I just get on enjoying the outdoors. Please try out this combo if you get chance, it's a winner. And please keep doing what you do, without people like you we'd all be ripped off. All the best Mally

Luke👍👍 Great review, thanks. I have many SOTO products but not this kit, no failures of any kind so far. The only "iffy" item is their butane lighter w/pull out head. Works OK up to about 5800' elevation if kept warm, above that not so much. Can't be a con though account they tell you it may not work above 5000' or if it's cold. So yeah, good stuff. Enjoy!

I’ve had this set a while now, I dig it. The titanium smaller cup developed a crack at the bottom and Soto replaced it for free in warranty. I wouldn’t put the lid on tight to boil (I see you didn’t), it’s hard to get off and you’ll burn your hands trying to and I permanently deformed the lip of the lid while pulling it off when super hot. Otherwise I like it

Awesome video like always ... If you're counting every ounce I guess that's a good investment but since I've had a couple of bouts with Lyme disease I do most of my 🏕️ camping from a kayak and since I'm in a kayak I don't have to count ounces. So I use my Stanley set up and Stanley frying pan which is great but it's 32 oz waiting till it gets colder to hike in the woods I've been using too much 100% deet and that's not good in the long run.🤪🛶🐿️🦉🍽️✨🇺🇸✨

Have you checked out the GSI Halulite Minimalist II or the GSI Glacier Stainless Minimalist II cooksets? They're one 500ml pot with a thermal sleeve and lid and the fuel canister fits inside with compact stoves. So less than half the weight and overall packing dimensions considering the fuel has to stack on top of this one. Food for thought! Just have to have coffee before or after breakfast or pour into a silicone cup.
