The genius of the Forest Temple theme is that it's both mysterious yet memorable. A lot of these dungeons have atmospheric soundtracks; meaning they don't have a particular melody, they just set a tone that matches the temple. The Forest Temple theme, though, does that while having a recognizable melody and not compromising the atmosphere of the mysterious castle/mansion. For some reason, this theme feels like a maze, even. The melody goes somewhere, yet the beat is pulling you towards a very different direction. It's weird, it's creepy yet it's very satisfying. It's many themes in one. The only theme that is just as good in the Zelda franchise is BOTW's Hyrule Castle, since that version mixes Zelda's Lullaby, ALTTP's Hyrule Castle, the Ballad of the Wind Fish and TLOZ's original theme.

Great video! I will say in defense of Twilight Princess that although the dungeon themes weren't very epic in your face themes, they did do a magnificent job of providing a subtle eerie atmosphere imo

I'm so glad you guys put in at least one song from Spirit tracks! It's the only Zelda game I've been able to play so far and I hardly ever see it mentioned on other channels discussing legend of Zelda music. It truly has a great soundtrack even if the game itself has some flaws.

The moment the eerie wooden instruments start, the dominant Moss green makes itself visible and the ethereal melody follows, the letters "Forest Temple" appear and in that moment it struck me "I'm not a child anymore, this place is gonna kill me anytime". Ah, the nostalgia. My favorite Dungeon theme of all time, of all games.

Great video, love this channel 🙌 I personally think No 1 for me would have been the Stone Tower. I think it fits seamlessly and the subtle but unnatural change when you flip the dungeon adds to it's freshness - based on when you reach it in majora's mask since it's quite different from the other 3.

Alright boys, this comment has been a long time coming. Like 6 months long... :/ kinda slipped my mind. Anyway, even if I did perpetually forget to make my comment, I'm now deciding to actually write it. So here ya go. Sorry about the length as usual. This was an enjoyable list to watch (even if it was 6 months ago) because music is one of the most important aspects of Zelda to me, as well as the dungeons. So here's what I thought of the list: 20. Fire and Sand Temple- This is a pretty good theme. Reminds me of the songs used in the Earth Temple and Goron Mines in Skyward Sword. It uses similar instruments and has the echoey and mysterious sound to it. A pretty good theme that fits the dungeons it's in. 19. Palace Theme- A classic. Really fits the adventurous tone of early Zelda and makes the dungeons feel far more epic. Good choice, but I would personally put it a bit higher. 18. Turtle Rock- Ok this song kicks ass in my opinion. It takes the tune of the Lorule dungeons and uses awesome instruments to make it sound mysterious and cool. It kinda has the feel of a desert theme, but still really fits the dungeon, and is one of my favorites overall. 17. Earth Temple- Not much to say about this song other than the fact that it fits the gloomy atmosphere of the dungeon while still giving it that Wind Waker color and personality. Good dungeon theme. 16. Dark World Dungeon- Not gonna lie, I'm not a huge fan of this one. It's kind of basic, and it was disappointing to hear it in so many dungeons. At least the background noise is pretty cool. 15. Lakebed Temple- Solid choice. The song in this dungeon really fits it. It's really eerie and kinda gives off the sensation of being underwater. I personally love this song and how it works in the confusing place that is Lakebed Temple. 14. Fire Sanctuary- Really good song to fit a fire temple. Gives a lively feel to a bright and awesome dungeon. I love the percussion used in it, and it sounds really cool to fit skyward sword's atmosphere. Another one of my favorites. 13. Woodfall Temple- Really? I've heard a lot of people complain about this one. While the chants really do fit the feeling of the dungeon and the tribal shit is pretty cool, it gets kinda annoying after a little while. 12. Arbiter's Grounds- Another one I'm gonna have to disagree with. While I love the hell out of this dungeon, the theme was just kinda boring. It kind of fits the dungeon but it's not the kind of song I enjoy listening to. 11. Palace of Winds- This is a pretty good one. Makes the journey feel pretty badass and the main melody fits the kind of mysterious atmosphere in the dungeon. Good choice, but it doesn't quite crack my top 20. 10. Sanctuary Dungeons- Ah, here we go. This is the dungeon theme from ALTTP that I can get on board with. Really cool sounding instruments that fit the early dungeons of ALTTP to a tee. Good choice, you'll see it on my list. 9. Temple of Droplets- This is a good one. Takes the cave theme and makes it super badass and awesome to listen to in the dungeon. The echoes in the music makes it feel really cool while you go around the dungeon. 8. Palace of Twilight- I don't like the dungeon, but at least the theme fits well. Really creepy and atmospheric song to fit the dungeon. 7. Tower of the Gods- Yeah this song is pretty cool, but I never found myself liking it as much as everyone else. The opening part is really cool and seems to work well with the idea of being in a place for a test from the gods. 6. Desert Palace- This is another really good version of ALBW's dungeon theme. It's got an amazing combination of vocals and a flute-sounding instrument. Really sounds like a desert theme, and has an almost Arabic feel. Good choice. 5. Stone Tower Temple- It's surprising that I think number 5 is criminally low for something. But that's how much I love this god damn song. It's like it's composed of four parts. The wind blowing in the background, and then the percussion comes in, and then the vocals, and finally the ocarina or flute or whichever airy instrument. The way that all of these parts falls into place is amazing, and the song really makes it seem like you're in a completely different place from the rest of Termina. Not to mention that the tune is one of the best in the series. I'm glad it's at least this high on the list, but you can expect to see it higher on mine, I just love it so much! 4. Shadow Temple- While I do not like the tune of this song at all, I can not deny that it perfectly fits the dungeon. Really makes a creepy dungeon that much creepier. Anyway, the song is a little boring imo (just like the dungeon) but it works well for where it is. Pretty solid choice I'd say. 3. Forest Temple- This song is so GOOD. It fits so well in the abandoned temple atmosphere and it has a really good use of vocals in the background. The pulse of the tune as it gets louder and louder and then goes back down again really makes the song a lot cooler and better for the dungeon. Great choice for this high up. 2. Hyrule Castle- I. FUCKING. LOVE. THIS. ONE! Whether it's the beginning of ALTTP or when you're returning to fight Yuga in ALBW, or when you finally reach it at the end of TP, nothing beats the sense of grandeur when the opening tune comes in. The song fits a castle superbly and makes me pumped to go through it every time. The BOTW one fits really well with a castle invasion, but I kinda miss the tune of old Hyrule Castle. If Lorule Castle wasn't a final dungeon I'd put it up nearly as high as well, I love how the song adds new aspects as the dungeon progresses. 1. Spirit Temple- Of course. Almost a perfect example of a desert theme done right. The instruments used give it that desert feel, and it again sounds pretty Arabic. Nintendo seems to like making desert temple have an Arabic vibe, don't they. But hey, I'm not complaining. It works super well and sounds like what I would think of if I were in a desert temple. Great choice for number one. Now, onto my top 20. I'll only explain the ones that weren't on your list: 20. City in the Sky- The mysterious tunes of this song fit the dungeon super well and makes me feel like I'm actually in the sky, and I'm in an abandoned city. One of the most atmospheric songs in the series, but it can get kinda annoying. 19. Lanayru Mining Facility- Ok, this might get some hate. Yes, the opening to this song is ear-piercing and makes some people want to die. But the rest of the song is amazing and fits a factory and desert atmosphere really well. Not to mention that the Past Version is not nearly as annoying. 18. Great Bay Temple- The noises really just fit the factory vibe of the dungeon, and it feels cool to hear this song during the dungeon. 17. Earth Temple 16. Sanctuary Dungeons 15. Tower of Spirits- This song just plain kicks ass. It's got such a cool tune and never gets old on return trips. 14. Palace Theme 13. Snowpeak Ruins- Y'all know I love everything about this dungeon, and the music is no exception. It really fits the abandoned mansion and icy atmosphere. 12. Lakebed Temple 11. Temple of Droplets 10. Water Temple- This song is just beautiful and mysterious and works so well! 9. Desert Temple 8. Wind Temple- The string and woodwind instruments in this song sound really nice to me, and the song makes the dungeon a lot more fun to go through. Another beautiful one in my opinion. 7. Face Shrine- Here's my oddball one on the list. The song is really simplistic but it does what the forest temple does to make it very atmospheric. The volume of the tune gets louder and quieter in pulses and offers a really cool and mysterious feeling that I love. 6. Forest Temple 5. Fire Sanctuary 4. Turtle Rock 3. Spirit Temple 2. Hyrule Castle 1. Stone Tower Temple (I explained it thoroughly in your entry) Oh well, this list was WAY WAY overdue and I'm sorry it took so long to remember to make it. I agree on number one. The spirit temple is the only one of the five OoT temples that really feels like a place of worship and the music fits very well being so mystic. In addition, the boss are witches which makes the place even more magical. However I miss some dungeon themes on your list. Every theme of SS dungeons is really cool, Water temple theme is great too with the water drops sounds. And I missed the ice ruins theme of LbW too. I think the theme is really good.

Well, after 4 days of releasing your video, a big part of your subscribers have seen it already, it has got 240 likes and not even a single dislike. This is a very impressive statement you set there. To the video: I agree with you except one detail. I didn't expect the Hyrule Castle Theme on the 2nd place. It's an awesome theme, needless to say, but I wouldn't say that it is better or it fits more to a dungeon than the Forest Temple Theme from OoT. Maybe I'd just swap these ones. It's pretty amazing to see that :o Well, most of the reasoning is explained in the video. It's Hyrule Castle, it's a very known castle in the Zelda universe. We feel the music fits the place so well. Great list! I expected to see at least one of the tunes from the Gameboy era (Awakening/Oracles) at least. I think they did a great job with those themes as a whole, they're all so catchy and bring a lot of identity to each dungeon back in a time when graphics only allowed you to do so much. Explorer's Crypt, anyone? What about Skull Dungeon or JabuJabu's belly? I might be biased since Seasons was my first ever Zelda game and my love of chiptunes in general, but still...

omg the Woodfall Temple's theme is actually amazing (to me for this particular reason) it has a tabla-like instrument in it along with the fact that the instrument is playing one of the most common taals (which is what we call them) and that is known as the Keherwa (or Kherwa) taal. It has 8 beats in it and it's played in multiple different tempos, so I was really shocked to hear it here, playing really quickly. You can hear it from 15:21 sdjifshkjd

Mina The Vampire I quite liked the list, but I must say, why the hate for Dragon Roost Cavern? I found it very relaxing, soothing, atmospheric, like the heartbeat of a volcano. My personal favorite music in Zelda is the boss music. I like how most of the themes add stress to a boss if it's easy to fight, like Goht or Moldova in Links Awakening, or his they make me feel invincible while fighting like the boss themes in.Swordigo, Majoras Mask, and Minish Cap.

Great video guys what I loved about it is that you had lots of both desert and fire dungeons which I like especially fire dungeons as they are my best ones to play in this game series but just one big problem I had you put spirit temple at number one and not the shadow temple I was quite disappointed with that I know that these are just your opinions and I will admit I did perfer the spirit temple lots more just because the music was not as freaking scary as the shadow temple but overall I have to say that the shadow temple I thought had the better theme just because of the boat you ride when you get to the end and of course bongo bongo as I think he suited that temple better than any other boss in any of the other dungeons and that is saying something because my favourite temple is the forest temple yet I hate the shadow temple but I do blooming love bongo bongo as a boss fight and I loved it when I had to face him he is just so great but apart from that I really did like your video and I watched all 41 minutes and 07 seconds of it so must of really liked it to watch all of it. XXX

I personally would've thrown the Fire Santuary and Water Temple themes in there somewhere along with some themes from the Oracle Games. I thought Hyrule Castle would've beat out the Spirit Temple, but then I remembered you guys had a thing for Desert/Sand dungeons. It caught me by surprise!

I agree with most but IMO, MY favorite is definitely Stone Tower. I never even liked majora's mask as much as the others but the music for stone tower is just super catchy. Edit: Sandship from skyward sword was also one of my favs.

This list is pretty spot-on for the most part. A lot of these themes certainly were great! I personally can recall a few other good ones not on the list, like the Wind Temple (WW), Great Bay Temple (MM), Water Temple (OoT), Swamp Palace (ALBW), Ancient Cistern (SS), and Skyview Temple (SS), but I do understand that you only wanted to choose 20. I disagree on your #10. I found the theme irritating and repetative. Love your #8. It's so eerie and perfect for the twilight realm. I loved this part of the game because, when I first played it, though the twilight got a little boring in the first part of the game, towards the end, I felt I started to miss it. And the Twilight dungeon came at the perfect time. I never played A Link Between worlds, but that game certainly has some cool themes! I thought every one you put on here was amazing! Love that Stone Tower Temple theme. I sweat a little bit towards the end of this dungeon because it is so long, you can start to run out of time! #4 certainly is creepy! Hey, uh... I wouldn't mind if Breath of the Wild left out redeads and wall/floor masters... How did I know you were going to put the Forest temple theme so high on this list? Not my favorite, but I know you guys like it. The ALttP castle theme at #2 certainly is epic, but this game doesn't have the same nostalgic feeling for me. I only recently played this game for the first time and I found it.. shall we say challenging/frustrating. Your number 1 is perfect. This has to be still my favorite dungeon and theme of all time!
