Glad to hear you can put weight on your foot again. Hope you are able to get back making turnings. Been following your series on the software and thinking about purchasing it, but have to make sure my old laptop will run it. I also have been out of commission the last few. week. I was cutting. some small segments and accidentally caught my thumb with the saw blade. Only lost about a third of my thumb nail. It has mostly healed back when I tried to cut my index. finger with the band saw. 6 and half hours later and nine stitches got that fixed. Had the stitches out on Tuesday so it shouldn't be long before I am back in my shop. I have been using power tools for 60 years without any incidents and then twice in less than a month so my pride was hurt more than anything. Luckily there was no permanent damage.

Thanks Miles. It does feel good to stand and no pain is GREAT! This software will run on an older laptop or computer. You can try a 30 day free trial to make sure and to see if you like it. Sorry to hear about you accidents. Best wishes for it healing soon. Take care, Gary

Thanks so much Glen I appreciate it. So I saw the doctor Friday and they did x-ray the said it's looking like it healed quite well. I have permission to put weight on the bad ankle now. And I'm supposed to start out slowly walking with the boot using crutches or a walker. When I can do full pressure with the boot on I switch to a brace. I tried walking with the boot on and was very successful so I'm looking forward to getting to that place and getting to my lathe.

Well, at least now I understand how you can visualize your segmented turnings, Gary! I always thought you just had it in your head and I couldn't understand how you could take that visualization and apply it to a glue up. I would get so confused! I see by a couple of your comments you are good to go! Hooray! I'll bet that feels good. Looking forward to your first turning video in awhile. Still, take it easy and don't re-injure anything, my friend! 😊 Phil

Thank you Phil. For sure I use this software for making a turning like this one where you make a feature ring. All the others I do the old fashion way. I just guess LOL Yes they said to start with the boot and when I can stand up with it on and it does not hurt to go to the brace that goes over your sock. The good news is as soon as I tried standing there was no pain. I figured it would take a week. They did say I could get back turning as long as I have no issues getting to the lathe or standing their doing it. So maybe in a few days I may wander out there. Thanks for watching buddy! Gary

Thank you very much Douglas. It went real well. They did X-rays and said it looked good. Also said I could start putting weight on the ankle with the boot on and once I can do full weight I can move to the brace. I able to walk decently with a walker for balance pretty good. As a matter fact for the first time since it happened I walked over and looked at my lathe. Pretty sure heard say And Just Where Have You Been LOL Maybe towards the end of this week I just may be able to turn something small and easy, Thanks for asking, Gary

Hope that the Doc has some good news for you Gary. Great job again with the video. I have been playing around with the software too making lots of interesting looking laminations. Thanks for expanding on the initial simple generation laminations as even the further designs are quite easy as you note. I did note that you can get the cut instructions directly from Lamination Pro without having to import them into Woodturner pro. Once you have the generation of the lamination that you want just select file and print preview in LP and you can see the build instructions for the design you have made. Looking forward to seeing you back in the shop (as I am sure you are also) but really enjoyed this series of videos too! Take Care, Ted

Thank you Ted. It was good news. I can now start putting weight on it with a boot on. When I get full weight and it does not hurt I switch to a brace. The good news is when I stood on it after getting home there was no pain. You know I looked for a way to print that out from inside the program and missed it. Thanks for pointing that out. I will update that tomorrow in a short video updating my ankle issue. And I will give you the credit for letting me know. Take care, Gary

Thank you Ray. I find it very fun to play around with this software. Good news the doctors visit was what I was hoping for. X-ray's looked good and I am now able to put weight on that ankle. Starting with the air cast(boot) and when that does not hurt the brace. So I got home and tried standing on the boot. No pain at all. I will try the brace in a few days. I may work my way to the lathe in a few days but probably with the boot. Take care brother! Gary

That is great news about your ankle. I Know when I had my knees done I missed my lathe so bad that I bought a saddle stool with wheels. It was perfect. I was able to just roll around the shop and turn smaller projects. I do have a question for you though. How do you keep those holy strips from picking up dust or staining from the other woods like Padua or Blackwood? I have about 30 board feet of it that was a stor fall from hurricane Sally that I can’t wait to make good use of.
@ThePapa19478 ай бұрын
Thank you very much Cory. I have thought about a rolling chair of sorts. Looks like I can start putting weight on that ankle now. So if I have a wood that bleeds I like to use spray lacquer. I put 3 or 4 very slight overspray type coats and that seems to lock it in. Basically those coats are not wet. Thanks for watching, Gary

I'll be happy when you're back at the lathe and turning wood. This whole theory with some complicated programs, actually that's not the Papa1947 I knew and liked. I also sometimes ask myself where I should get all this wood. In Germany I pay 75€ for a piece of American walnut measuring 60x60x8cm, which is currently not quite 81 US dollars. For that you buy an entire forest from you. Get fit again soon and throw away the stupid PC. Schorschi from Germany
