I really enjoy Kent's videos. His explanation makes all the difference. Instead of making us wonder what is happening, he TELLS us. That makes a lot of sense and helps us understand the project much better than the videos with no explanations.

What a fantastic item to have on display. The grand children would love it. I should make one and place it on the table at my market booth. It might draw people in....maybe a way to make extra money on slow days...lol

In the Mall atrium between K-mart and JC Penney back in the day, the Red Cross had a monster coin funnel. So fun to watch this project and remember those days.

Hey Kent, thank for all of the videos. They've been immensely helpful in my journey to become a better wood turner. I do just want to point out one thing I've heard you mention a few times which doesn't seem strictly correct. You say that as you approach the center of the bowl, it's turning more slowly so you need to slow down the speed of your cut to compensate. While it's true that the wood is moving more slowly relative to the cutting tool, you are also cutting less wood. It is in fact exactly the same rpm no matter where you are on the bowl (as I'm sure everyone knows) but it seems like maintaining a consistent cutting speed whether you're out toward the edge of the bowl or toward the middle seems to make the most consistent cut. Actually, even when I watch your tool making the cut, you seem to have basically the exact same speed the entire way through, as when you're riding the bevel it just kind of dictates itself.

The vase is absolutely beautiful. I have never been able to justify to use of resin in my work. Wood is such an environmentally sound choice if harvested responsibly but plastic is its polar opposite. Watching your channel has convinced me to purchase a Record Power Regent. Taking my old Grizzly to my son-in-law and picking up the new machine in a couple weeks. Good luck on your move.

Now THIS was a Happy Turning! A truly nostalgic item from the not-so-long-ago past that brings back fun memories. You did a great job on this project, Kent, and your explanation of what you were doing and why you were doing it that way is always so very educational. As the Number 5 robot would say, "More Input"!😄😄😄😄😄🌳

Kent that turned out awesome thanks for sharing it with us…..Now you just have to put together a little shindig and we can all come and send $10-$20 in coins down it and it will pay for the whole project and probably have a little left over to get yourself a little something nice lol……can’t wait to see what you do next Brother

Very neat idea. If you ever want another large challenge/unique idea, I suggest a Battlefield Chessboard. It's a Chessboard with a non flat surface that you may or may not be able to find by googling in combination with "One of a Kime". It's something I developed and I normally powercarve the surface with an angle grinder to get the unique terrain but I think you could make a really cool one with a sort of raindrop on water terrain with a lathe. I'm not brave enough (and don't have a big enough lathe) to do it, but I think it would be a good one for you (I'd also just love to see my idea get out there some more).

I wish I could get the long "swept back" wings on my bowl gouge like you do. I have a Sorby Pro Edge. It only goes to 50 degrees, and the way it rotates, it only allows me wings half the length as yours.

Nice. Curious, why choose the bowl gouge v a scraper for the very light shavings toward the end? I’m trying to learn, not questioning the decision
