A bit lost noticing the difference between double contact and double push. 3:36 2-contact spends energy, but 2-push helps save it. 0:35 Isn’t there 2-contact in the 2-push. 3:06 Or is the intentional/more pressured second push what differences them? 3:48 I tried watching Felix and Jason’s attack and wondered if they were accelerating on 2-contact or 2-push. • Felix: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKS8k5R3i7h0fsU • Jason: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKS8k5R3i7h0fsU

Double contact is a little moment included in the double push… double push is the 2 push from one skate… double contzct happen at the transition between a skate to another
@valkijzer2 жыл бұрын
@@ThePascalbriand Thanks! Because I thought of them as two different techniques that one used more energy than the other I thought that in accelerations the double push wasn’t better than the double contact. But since one is in the other, then a skater CAN accelerate using the double push. 😅 Had to revisit your intro of the double push to correct that energy thought I had. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jXywhnSAodWIq7s

Hello Pascal, I've been watching this video very closely and I think I see a break in the movement to place the recovery leg more under the hip. If the recovery leg would follow the line, it has begun, it would end under the body weight. But I think you change for a small time the direction to the outside, so that the recovery leg ends under the hip. And then again you get the leg in the direction it would have had, with doing the inside push. Am I right?🤔 Greetings from Germany 😊
@ThePascalbriand4 жыл бұрын
hI Chalres, not sure i understood what you mean there... all in all in this video i exagerate a bit the movement to show a double contact... so like i probably say in the video the landing is a bit different... i remember also i say to have a long double contact but its not true ^^ i mean more you need to feel one moment of double contact but not as long as possible.... too long would slow us down too muchand kill the rythm....as an exercice its quite good to do it anyway but just as a little drill...
@charlesgismo144 жыл бұрын
@@ThePascalbriand Hello Pascal, thank you for your answer. I think it was very hard to understand, what I wrote😉. But what you wrote that you exaggerated the moves comes close to what I mean. I can confirm that you get slower when you try to expand the phases of doubles contact. I feel like I disturb my movements and don't really use the body weight for full. That feeling I have also when I feel the double contact not for so long. Maybe it's because I learn and I'm too concentrated 🤔🙄. But it's always a pleasure to follow your advices and with using some videoclips of my own, I get better. Baby step after baby step 😄

Hello from USA. Thanks for the excellent videos. I notice you do not lace the bottom two holes of your boot; may I ask why?
@taven21646 жыл бұрын
I would say to try out different patterns until you find what is amazing for you! His boot may fit perfect this way as he could have a slightly larger ball of his foot that, when laced, can cause discomfort. I, for example, in my cycling cleats have a different pattern lock pattern on each cleat due to having broken my foot back in the day and now having my cycling cleats and my skates fitting slightly differently and needing support and different tension placements on each foot to not cause numbness or injury.
@ThePascalbriand6 жыл бұрын
Matthew Santiago just my laces was too short :-) ... and i never lace really much the down part as my cast fit good and my foot don’t move there so ... all good

Very good video! Actually first time I hear about landing the right skate to the right of the bodymass (and same for left). When skating "normal" I guess you land the skates at about the centre of bodymass? Nice to see you have Mariani again! :-)
@ThePascalbriand6 жыл бұрын
scider2 yes in normal technique you can land about under body mass.... going to double push you need to land more outside to create pressure
@scider26 жыл бұрын
But can you also do double push with less double contact to save energy?
@ThePascalbriand6 жыл бұрын
scider2 yes you can also do this ... but with 125mm you can almost just glide instead of really double push then...I think
@scider26 жыл бұрын
Even though I have double contact I find it very difficult to have a good push with both legs at the same time. Think I need to have a longer double contact... and train more... :-)

@ThePascalbriand6 жыл бұрын

Pascal .. peut etre tu participe en Engadin-Marathon www.swiss-skate-tour.ch/en/engadin-inline-marathon/ - just wondering :) PS: you said something about.. where the pressure has to be in some video. (i.e. not too long). Somewhere other .. I was reading that you may want to try to dig the wheels into the ground. I personally were imagining that there is a scale below the foot - and I was trying to get as much pressure (maximum value counts) onto that scale as possible. It kinda were helpful seems to me (even so on roller-ski in my case hehe, but was still helpful). So thanks for you great tips :)
